Perfect spot close to Valley of Fire state park

Numerous spots although quite busy. Lots of cars driving around. Our Class B van had no problems but we did not venture out too far. Very spotty cell signal. Great view of lake Mead and mountains. The sunset was incredible!

Beautiful Area!

Nice, quiet, flat areas that are perfect for big rigs. 14 day limit. Road coming in a tad bumpy but not horrible if you take your time. Beautiful view of the Lake! Will come back here for sure.

Dispersed Camping Right on Lake Mead

Road in is a little bumpy but there were rigs from a massive 5th wheel pulled by an HDT, class a, down to car campers and everything in between. Numerous places to camp spread out over a very large area. Pit toilets. Free water and dump station 12 miles away at Echo Cove. Pretty peacefull and decent night sky except for the lights of Las Vegas coming over the mountains. Lots of services in Overton (grocery, hardware, laundry, gas station, couple of restaurants, post office). There are burros, cows, and could hear coyotes in the distance but never saw one

SiteWe chose a site overlooking the lake next to a fire ring.

Large free dispersed area

Large area FREE dispersed in Lake Lead NRA. Access road is lumpy paved .6 mile and washboard gravel 1.2 miles. One vault toilet at top but otherwise no other amenities. No dumpsters (free dumpsters at blue point sprs), no water, no RV dump (water and RV dump at upper Echo Bay CG for free). The vault toilet is very clean, NPS maint cleans often. Cell signal was fair to good on T-Mobile. Closest groceries is Lins in Overton 15 miles away. If the camping area is wet or rain forecast, suggest staying up higher on the stoney graveled areas. Landscape views are huge but vegetation is gray and dead looking which is my reason for 3 stars.

Quiet, convenient dry camping

This is dispersed camping, some of which was former lakebed. There’s several NPS designated dirt roads that are passable at various distances from the lake shore, many are nicely level. There is a free dump station and water nearby at Echo Bay. Propane is available at the small gas station at Echo Bay. Overton is a short drive (though possibly inaccessible if raining, several parts of the route are at flash flooding risk) for groceries, laundry, hardware store, automotive stores The local wild burros will serenade you at 3 AM. And the coyotes are vocal as well - be extremely careful to keep pets, especially smaller ones, close.

Dispersed large area, great viwes of Lake

Road in is nice to a point. The further in (Closer to shoreline) the rougher the road. 4x4 will get down to shore but higher up affords great views also. Donkies, Bighorn, and wildlife. Can be windy, great hiking, I visited in april so temp was great but summer ?

Not crowded, close to Valley of Fire and the rest of Lake Mead Rec area.

Quiet, peaceful area, very widely spaced sites

We have a 36’ Class A with a Cherokee Trailhawk tow and parked and dropped at the beginning of the camping area and went to scout for a site that would accommodate us. The two forest roads, NPS-108& 108A, and the other less formal“roads/tracks” can get pretty rough in places. We found a site with beautiful views of the lake and surrounding mountains.

AT&T coverage was pretty good, with 2 Bars of 5GE service and speeds up to 8 MB/s. There are no trees in the area, so we were able to receive all 3 SW Dish satellites and Starlink had speeds up to about 7 MB/s. We didn’t try to load any OTA channels.

Where's the water

Lots of camping sites I stayed right by the bathrooms I loved the donkeys the wild donkeys were awesome but I recommend walking to the water but still in watch out then because there is really soft mud and it will sink you but if you don't mind straining your eyes it's a pretty view lake what's left of it

Dispersed & Free

There are so many spots here that would work for any size rig. And if you want to go down further closer to the water you'll need a 4x4. The ground going to the water is rutted and steep and soft sand in parts. We saw several trucks drive down there without any problems.

The two miles off the highway is paved, but in poor condition. You pass some houses and then a pit toilet and then you can choose your spot. There's plenty of room to spread out, and there are even some flat areas.

Lots of trash around. We stayed just one night in early October on a Sunday night and it was too hot for us (low 90s). Other van and car campers came and set up camp while we were there, but it's just wide open spaces so you don't feel like you're intruding on someone's spot. There were some mosquitoes but not too bad. Lots of wild donkeys!

Decent cell service, att was better than Verizon but both had coverage.

No services other than the pit toilet at the entrance, so please pack out your trash and then some.

Make sure to be prepared!

There are plenty of space for camping, although most campers had RV. The “road” is rough and wouldn’t recommend small vehicles go past the first open area due to uneven terrain. I tried to get right next to the water in my 4Runner but got stuck in sand about 200ft from shore. Luckily with my recovery boards and shovel I was able to get out with no issues. I didn’t stay the night, but it looks like a safe place to stay if needed. If you have 4x4 or AWD you can get down lower just be aware of the sand although it looked compact with visible tire tracks I still got stuck. I assume due to water levels dropping so much in Lake Mead that area was probably under water a year ago as the sand is moist to the touch.

Easy Access

About 2 miles off the highway, 1/2 pavement 1/2 gravel, very flat road. We had a great site. Lots of campers because of Spring Break but plenty of space. We got a great site overlooking Lake Mead. Wind started blowing about 11pm and blew ALL night. Other then that it was very nice.

This was my first time camping as a grown up…haha. I had such an amazing bonding time with my daughter. The spot we picked to set up camp, was nice. We had no service on our phones…definitely taking a radio or downloading music next time. Can’t wait till it cools down a bit more so I can go back.

NOT BOAT LAUNCH

This is my second try to write review. Stuart’s Point is no longer a valid Dispersed camp site. We ended up stopping in a spot across from someone’s home. In the morning we saw it was near the outhouse. Man came out from the home and let us know we were on private property and camping nor boat launch had been available since the 80’s. We saw lots of people walking down with kayaks and paddle boards but have no idea where they came from. He said we could stay for the night. Lots of moths and didn’t even set up camp, just slept in the back of the SUV’s because we weren’t sure if we’d be told by rangers to leave at any point.

CAUTION

Folks. PACK IT IN PACK IT OUT. INCLUDING THE NAILS from the pallets or other wood that you burn. Now the drive in is a little rough but so worth the drive. After you turn off the road you will pass several houses just keep going till you see the water. You will pass one pit toilet. No trash service or water. We had cell service with Verizon and boosted with wee boost. Find your site but once you do check for glass and nails. It does get rather hot. We were there in April and it got up 100.

Cant wait to go back

This spot was so beautiful, lots of spots to choose from and many opportunities to be far from other people (I went during the week so the weekend is probably busier).

The drive in could be accessible for all vehicles. Cars could most likely access the top, but most spots deeper into the spot need a truck or 4 wheel drive. Be careful for loose sand and rocks the further you go from the beginning. We witnessed a truck get stuck and they couldn't get out.

Every drive in is super scenic, be aware if you enter through the south or west side of the park you pay to get into the Lake Mead National Recriation Area. If you drive through the north side of the park you will drive through the valley of fire state park which has it's own entry fee.

Dispersed camping on Lake Mead

One of many dispersed camping spots on Lake Mead. Stewart’s Point is midway on the west coast of the Overton arm of the lake, easily accessible from 167/Northshore Dr by turning onto Stewarts’s Point Rd. This is a dirt road that leads to the lake and many offshoots for plentiful dispersed spots right on or near the water.

GPS: (36.3740104, -114.3978818)

Upper sites are more level and packed, the roads and sites get sketchy and soft further down you go to the water.

There is a pit toilet here but no other amenities. There is free water, trash and dump station further south at one of several NRA campsites.

Good cell service, beautiful lake and scenery, amazing night sky and lots of donkeys braying day and night.
