Flagstaff is so gorgeous

Our site was directly on flagstaff so we had an excellent view! Great swimming and playground. Clean bathrooms which is also a plus. Extremely friendly staff. And as a bonus you're maybe 20 miles from Canada! We go every year!

My Favorite Maine Campground

I always make an effort to stay here at least one weekend a year. Peaks-Kenney is my favorite State Park to stay at. The sites are clean and quiet, the beach is humble but nice, and the lake is beautiful. I would recommend this spot to absolutely anyone.

One of My Favorite Spots

Lily Bay is a well-maintained state park that sees a lot of traffic through the year, but has sites that can make you feel isolated. I love to go in the summer when Moosehead is at its warmest. If you're into adventuring, it's a short drive up to Kokadjo and the Golden Road, where you can look for…

Beautiful Spot (beware the trash)

Located along the far west end of Attean Pond, this campsite is a lovely place to spend the evening or even a few evenings. There is a large beach with beautiful views of the pond that makes launching and landing boats easy. It can get rather windy here and depending on the direction, can also make…

2 out of 5 because of human impact

This is a large site that sits on the eastern side of Holeb Pond, at one end of the canoe portage between Attean and Holeb Ponds on the Moose Bow Loop. This is a conveniently located spot, however, it is very impacted and often full of trash(human and otherwise). It really is an amazing location…

Another Moose Bow Loop Camping Option

Another small site at one of the rapids on the Moose River. Depending on the water level and your skill, you can paddle the rapid or line your boat. We chose to line given we were traveling with our dogs. Depending on your plans, this site may be a good stopping point for the day. The site is small…

Nice Spot Along the Moose Bow Loop

Located at the Camel Rips rapid on the Moose Bow Loop, this is a sweet small site that allows you the ability to fall asleep to the sounds of gently flowing water. Large enough for two smaller tents, this is a great spot for solo travelers or a smaller group. Depending on the water level and your…

Beautiful Spots Along the Northern Forest Canoe Trail

There are two large sites here that are absolutely beautiful along the Moose Bow Loop. There is also one campsite at the start of the portage (the two ends are less than a 10 minute walk apart, a little longer if portaging). The photos are from the end with two larger sites. There are also two…

Remote Camping Along the Northern Forest Canoe Trail

There are two sites available here (North and South) and both are beautiful! The site is also a portage area for a section of the Northern Forest Canoe Trail. We spent our second night on a short multi day trip here. The site sits at the mouth of the Moose River as it flows into Attean Pond. If you…

Phenomenal Fall Conditions

Amazing clear water lake. 3 to 1 moose to human ratio, and abundant nearly tame birds and furry creatures. Haunting loon calls in the evening. Simple yet well maintained sites and facilities with responsive staff and relaxed, respectful neighbor campers. Sweet kayaking.

A little loud.

If you want to ride ATV trails, fish and swim in the Kennebec River, ride mountain bikes on the Kennebec rail trail this is a great place to stay. The down side is the truck traffic on the nearby roads. The campground is near an intersection so logging trucks slow and accelerate nearby starting…

What an incredible campground! Very quiet, at least in Sept. Very, very clean. Our huge site on the water was raked clean before we arrived. I said "huge", other campgrounds would have made 3 sites from the one we had. Access to Flagstaff lake is part of the campground with a boat launch/beach.…
