    SUMMARY PRESENTED BYT-Mobile

Waters Edge Family Campground accommodates campers with pets across 271 Leonard Bridge Road in Lebanon. The campground provides tent, RV, and cabin options for pet owners, with full hookup sites featuring water and electric connections. Several guests note the campground's spacious sites surrounded by tall trees offer adequate space for dogs to relax at camp. The salt water pool remains clean and well-maintained, while the small lake allows for fishing, kayaking, and swimming opportunities where many dogs enjoy cooling off. Pets must remain leashed throughout the common areas, and owners are responsible for proper waste disposal.

Nearby Odetah Camping Resort in Bozrah features extensive recreational options for visitors with dogs. The resort maintains dedicated pet exercise areas where dogs can socialize safely. Trails surrounding the campgrounds provide opportunities for daily walks, with most requiring dogs to remain on standard 6-foot leashes. Local wildlife considerations necessitate keeping pets secured at all times, particularly during early morning and evening hours when wildlife activity increases. Many seasonal campers bring dogs for extended stays, as the campgrounds enforce quiet hours to minimize disturbance from barking. Both campgrounds maintain clean facilities and offer weekend activities, though some review feedback indicates Waters Edge provides more secluded, wooded sites that many pet owners prefer for additional privacy.

      Newport RV Park

Clean sites and easy hiking trails

The campground is close to relatively easy hiking trails and Portsmouth Dog Park. Clean site areas, but many are on a slight slop so leveling blocks are needed. We Took one of the nearby Trails get to the Portsmouth Publick House restaurant, which is dog friendly, for lunch. The waterfall along the blue trail is picture worthy.

      Waters Edge Family Campground

      Incredible campground

Most amazing weekend with tons of woods (privacy is huge for us). Very friendly guests and staff! Amazing weekend with lots of fun for the kids and even the dogs! We’ve been to campgrounds with playgrounds worse than the waters edge dog park. Every one of us had a great time with the perfect campsite deep in the woods (still able to park my 26’ camper trailer). Swimming pool, great playground, among lots of trails and wooded area surrounding almost every site. Best camping weekends we’ve ever had have been at Waters Edge.

      Newport RV Park

      Best dog park

We got a great pull through full hookup with a 5 minute walk to a huge dog park. There are also a bunch of beautiful trails right from the park

      Fort Getty Campground

      Tent campers

Perfect location for a summer / beach camp. Mostly for RVs but tent site #6 was great. Views of the ocean to wake up too and tucked away from main area.

Worst part is you can’t bring your car on the site. Do not understand this, especially since it was over 95° and we have dogs that need AC, one if which is 14. We did sneak the car up by asking an RV camper to use his land because they block off the entrance with giant tree trunks.

More good stuff, the private pet friendly beaches were great! Small but perfect to relax. No problems with the pets at all and old but clean bathrooms.

      Wilderness Lake Park

      Really enjoyed our time here

Quaint little campground. Not many tenting sites but along a beautiful lake. Pets allowed. Bathrooms close by 10, something to keep in mind. And they’re cash or check only! Taylor Pond is not far and a great hike to bring both kids and pets. This campground was perfect for us and our dog. Bring your own kayaks or use the campgrounds free of charge.

      Ashaway RV Resort

      Rude Staff

Standard crabgrass parking lot with drunks driving around on golf carts and RV's stacked on top of each other. The woman who runs the office is a very angry person and it made the entire visit unpleasant, which is no surprise as she has been hostile and unwelcoming the several times I've visited. Pool looks nice though I guess, I've never dared to use it for fear of breaking one of the many unwritten and unspoken rules. A great place for people who enjoy eating dinner next to your neighbor's septic pipe. I called to ask if they allowed dogs and was told "NO" just to arrive and be asked to park next to the dog park.

      Newport RV Park

Nice, but further out than we thought

This park was very nice, but they advertise being 5 miles away from historic Newport, and it’s more like 8. There are zero bike paths that are immediately accessible and Newport drivers are not walker/biker friendly. No sidewalks on the Main Street to get you here. Ubers and Lyfts can be scarce and very expensive depending on the time of day. Between $16 to $78 rides…so, if you’re not towing, just something to be aware of. Neighbors were super nice and there is a great dog park (we think it’s city owned) with super nice doggo humans. Was good for a short stay - we just wish we had known how far out it really was because we really would have loved to spend more time downtown.

      Whispering Pines Campground

      Great family campground

We stayed for 3 nights, the sites and camp were very clean and well maintained. Everyone was very friendly, lots of things to do - pool, bocce, volleyball, horseshoes, arcade, a small field to play frisbee or ball, mini-golf (mini-golf landscape needs to be refreshed a bit) there is even a very small fenced in dog park which was nice if you want to let your dog off leash to play. We did not experience any screaming kids all night.

    Guide to Lebanon

Lebanon camping areas provide diverse options for outdoor recreation within Connecticut's Quiet Corner. The region features rolling hills with elevations ranging from 300-600 feet and predominantly deciduous forest cover. Summer temperatures typically range from 60-85°F with moderate humidity, while spring and fall camping seasons experience temperature variations between 40-70°F.

    What to do

Fishing opportunities: Salt Rock Campground offers access to river fishing with convenient kayaking options. "We took our kayaks up to the dam and fished our way back," notes a visitor who enjoyed the combination of paddling and fishing.

Beach swimming: Rocky Neck State Park Campground provides beach access a short walk from campsites. "Sites are nice, there is a dumping station and some great sites for group camping. Reasonable rates since it is a State Park!" explains a camper who appreciated the coastal amenities.

Hiking trails: Devil's Hopyard State Park Campground features waterfall views accessible via short trails. "Across the street from the campground is a trail to Chapman Falls, which will take less than 10 minutes to hike to, but it's a pretty waterfall," reports one visitor describing the natural attractions.

Paddling routes: Hopeville Pond offers paddling experiences beyond the immediate shoreline. "From here, we paddled south to the end of the pond and up the Pachaug River, eventually reaching the dam at Pachaug Pond. It's an 8 mile paddle with some tricky spots to navigate, but very pretty!" shares an experienced kayaker.

    What campers like

Pool facilities: Brialee Family Campground maintains both swimming pools and water features for visitors. "Along with a pool, they also have a beach and a separate beach for dogs. They provide a store with all the essentials, a game room, laundry room, Rec hall, and multiple bathhouses throughout the Campground," notes a reviewer who appreciated the extensive amenities.

Group camping areas: Sunfox Campground offers settings conducive to family gatherings. "Campground is situated in a beautiful valley with a little pond, hiking trails, playground, jumping pillow, swimming pool and hot tub. Owner is very involved, energetic, and friendly," explains a camper highlighting the social atmosphere.

Natural privacy: Salem Farms Campground provides wooded sites with adequate spacing. "Fire pits are nice and big made with large rocks. A lot of it is seasonal, but it didn't feel like it like others we've stayed in. People were friendly," notes a camper describing the setting.

Seasonal activities: Strawberry Park schedules events throughout the camping season. "We went two years in a row each on Halloween! They had great amenities and activities for the kids. Plus a costume contest and tricker treating. Very enjoyable time," reports a family who visited during themed weekends.

    What you should know

Campground sizes: Campgrounds near Lebanon vary significantly in capacity and layout. Strawberry Park reports 550 sites, while smaller options like Devil's Hopyard maintain fewer than 25 sites.

Pet policies: Dog friendly campgrounds near Lebanon have specific restrictions. While Waters Edge and Salem Farms welcome pets, Hopeville Pond restricts them entirely. "Pets are not allowed at this campground!" warns a recent visitor to Hopeville Pond.

Seasonal timing: Hopeville Pond State Park Campground operates with specific season dates. "It opens for the season earlier than many of the others, in early April," notes a camper who appreciated the extended camping season compared to other state parks.

Reservation requirements: During peak season, advance planning becomes crucial. "On a Wednesday afternoon in July there were still 5 site available for the upcoming weekend, so it may be a reasonable option for last-minute plans," observes a camper at Devil's Hopyard, highlighting potential flexibility.

    Tips for camping with families

Activity scheduling: Strawberry Park organizes regular entertainment for younger campers. "There is lots to do at the campground especially for kids. Each weekend has a big schedule of events- farmers' market, themed activities and a band," explains a family describing the organized recreation.

Swimming options: Multiple water features appeal to different age groups. "Amenities Amenities Amenities!!!! This Campground earns the name resort campground! The lake is great!! The pool area is a little small, but the attraction is the lake. The splash area at the pool is great for little kids," notes an enthusiastic visitor to Odetah Camping Resort.

Playgrounds: Family-friendly campgrounds provide dedicated play areas. "They have a beautiful pool, playground and a large jumping pillow like a huge trampoline you can't fall off of," describes a visitor to Sunfox Campground, highlighting features specifically designed for children.

Quiet locations: Some families prefer secluded settings. "Very friendly guests and staff! Amazing weekend with lots of fun for the kids and even the dogs! We've been to campgrounds with playgrounds worse than the waters edge dog park," notes a camper about their experience at pet-friendly accommodations.

    Tips from RVers

Site leveling: Prepared camping pads simplify setup for larger vehicles. "Site was wide and allowed me to easily back in. Near perfect level. New fence poles show renovations were consistently done," explains an RVer at Strawberry Park describing the practical aspects of their site.

Hookup availability: Odetah Camping Resort provides full-service connections for RVs. "Sites in loops A-E tend to back up to one another and are wooded, but not a lot of low brush providing privacy. A few of the E loop sites are right on the water," notes a camper at Hopeville Pond explaining site characteristics.

Dump station access: Proper sanitation facilities remain important for extended stays. "Two easy dump stations with nice clean area," reports an RVer from Strawberry Park who appreciated the well-maintained waste disposal options.

Site spacing: Proximity between campsites varies significantly between locations. "The sites are close together and marked with posts. The sites are so close that the posts are marked with the site number on both sides which tells me that there has been confusion in the past," warns a visitor to Devil's Hopyard describing the compact arrangement.
