“Camp”grounds that discriminates against tent campers

Odetah Camping Resort called us today 24 hours prior to our arrival- after 4 years of camping there- to cancel our site unless we rented an RV and didn’t use tents. We were allowed to book and had the booking for 4 months. I was on the phone with them while I booked for assistance since it’s a group booking for 16. I called later to book a cabana too. They never once said anything. Then they called 24 hours in advance because our reservation said tent and that’s not allowed. Then they charged us a cancellation fee. Even tho they cancelled ON US.

But my favorite part is them saying that the camping industry is moving to no longer allow tents. They think they are*kind* to still allow tents-a handful of sites on a rocky hill that don’t have electricity or water. So those with medical needs cannot use those sites. Those with mobility limitations cannot either.

WHAT?!

Camping= tents. Change your name if you are going to discriminate. Don’t worry tho, you can put on a tent NEXT TO an rv on the sites. You just cant put only a tent.

Their customer service was horrendous. The experience was horrendous. What a shame.

Lots of activities and clean

Has a nice beach on a pond, a very cool splash pad next to the pool which all looked very clean. There is a snack shack next to the pond with a play scape and horseshoes. Some of the non seasonal sites are very tight, I felt like I was parking in my neighbors camp site. Overall good short stay, clean with plenty to do.

Great time, Great Campground

Amenities Amenities Amenities!!!! This Campground earns the name resort campground! We had so much fun & we were never short on something to do.

The lake is great!! The pool area is a little small, but the attraction is the lake. The splash area at the pool is great for little kids.

From a massage at the Spa to a fun band by the lake, to Bingo night, mini- golf and awesome ice cream Sundaes... tennis & basketball games, immaculate bathrooms....every night we went to bed tired and looking forward to doing it all again the next day!! The sites are a little close, but with so much to do you don't spend that much time at your site.

Can't wait to go back next summer for a long weekend.

Lots to do but not very private

Resort is the right word! We went in cooler September during Covid, so we couldn’t take advantage of all the amenities, but we’ve already decided we need to book a trip for peak season next summer. We had two sites side by side for our group of 7 and two dogs. The staff will deliver wood right to your site. The only con is the sites are not very private...at all.

Fun Halloween Camping

We went two years in a row each on Halloween! They had great amenities and activities for the kids. Plus a costume contest and tricker treating. Very enjoyable time. Hope to go back again.

Great until this year

Was going there for 8 years, everyone there was nice and respectful. First time this year a security guard named Collin Smith (Probably not his real name) was driving around with his dog in his cart harrassing anyone that wasn’t white. It’s a shame because I‘M someone that not into drama. They told us if we want to make a complaint, go on the website. Having heard anything since I filled 1 out on the website. Another person said the same guy was harrassing them when we were making a complaint at the front desk. It’s a shame, I guess it’s time to find a new favorite place.....

Great campground for the family

There is lots to do at the campground especially for kids. Each weekend has a big schedule of events- farmers’ market, themed activities and a band. In addition there is good fishing on the pond, mini- golf, pool and splash pad, etc. Kids are not bored here! Most sites are even and good sized.

Had no idea it was there!

Stayed in October 2018. Tucked away in the woods I never knew this was there! Beautiful pond and a good mix of seasonal and overnight sites as well as cabins. Plenty of areas to walk our dogs and have them swim. Playgrounds, bath houses throughout and fully stocked camp store with anything you could ever need. Organized events, cafe on site and quick drive (or Uber ride) to Mohegan Sun.
