Now well managed

I see there were problems before, but this campground is pretty nice now. The location is great to visit the Mystic Seaport museum site. The grounds are clean and well maintained, the bathrooms and showers are spotless and newly painted. Our site didn't have sewer, but the electric and water were working fine. We saw maintenance people making repairs while we were there. The kids areas looked great. Check in was easy. We have AT&T service and streamed via our hotspot with no problems. We enjoyed our stay in our little RV. It was quiet and pleasant at our site which was level and towards the back. So far, all the Sun Outdoors campgrounds we've visited have been good. They seem to buy older places and renovate/upgrade them.

Disappointed in Ray the manager

So as my husband and I were leaving the campground we went the wrong way and we ended up where you come in so instead of going all the way back I said well I’ll just hop out the car and let the gate up there was nobody coming in Ray was there with his truck and started screaming his head off at me saying that we were the one that were responsible for breaking it it wasn’t broken so I’m not sure what he was talking about and just kept screaming at me for no reason so I went inside to find out what the problem was and told him he needed to take it down a notch but this was just not acceptable so I left  and the next day when we were checking out I went in and Ray was behind the desk and I said oh what is your name and he said Ray is no you’re the one that likes to yell at me and again he started yelling at me then saying that we could’ve caused an accident while there was no cars coming if there was a car or trailer coming in of course we would not have gone through we were in the wrong and I told him that but he could’ve handled this much better  I was just very disappointed that a grown man thinks that he can scream at a woman that way

Poorly run and taken care of

While the buddy site was an okay size it is still a buddy site and best when traveling with another party. Fire ring was filled with the previous person’s garbage. Bathrooms were dirty and only cleaned after our 4th day there. Dog area had not been mowed in weeks and there were no bags in the dispenser. Instead it was filled with a bird’s next. Which had no birds in it. It was the only bag dispenser in the entire campground! Had several campers warn us about the unfriendly management. And even the rental trailers had not been mowed under probably for the entire season. They could have been mistaken for abandoned trailers. Seriously hope Sun RV Resorts addresses these issues since it could be a really nice park.

Great campground near a favorite town!

This park is in a great location for exploring Mystic. You are close to downtown, the aquarium, Mystic Seaport and other attractions. We camped here with friends and got one of the“buddy sites” so our patios faced each other. I like this configuration when camping with friends but would not like this site if we did not know our neighbors. The campground was very clean and well taken care of.

Our stay was in the spring before their busy season started so some things like the pool and water features were closed but the appearance was that it was well cared for and was a very popular attraction for families. The main office is like a fancy clubhouse and check-in was super smooth and quick. The office has a billiards table, theater chairs with a large screen tv, a small book exchange, racks with information about the area, and a camp store. Outside is a nice community fire pit with Adirondack chairs. The bathrooms in the campground were newer and immaculate. This“resort” has lots of amenities that would occupy kids time but we were more interested in sight-seeing and didn’t spend much time around the campground. The mini golf course was actually really nice and not the run-down homemade ones that you usually see at campgrounds. They had an arcade, theater area, Our site was a nice long, level pull-thru. Hook-ups were placed in ideal locations for the pad which was gravel. The cable tv worked well and many sites would accommodate satellite users. The park appears to have a fair number of seasonals tucked back in other areas of the park and their sites were nice and tidy. There is a nice tent section that has a number of nice sites but do not have hookups but are located near a bathhouse. Just like RV sites, these have picnic tables and fire rings at each site. If you want the RV camping experience but don’t have an RV, they have one and two-bedroom units for rent.

We really love the Mystic/Stonington area. Downtown has some great eateries. Sift bakery has the most delicious pastries and Mystic Pizza is famous. We love sitting outside at Ford’s Lobster in Noank. One day we launched our kayaks north of the drawbridge in town at the public launch and paddled down to Mystic Seaport which was fun to see the historic boats from the water. If you are looking for a beach to sit on head to a short distance southeast to Watch Hill, Rhode Island. Our biggest complaint was the price but camping in New England can be very pricy so you just have to shell out the cash if you want to be in a popular tourist destination.

Nice campground with many facilities

Seaport RV is a great, spacious campground with many amenities and a location close to Mystic. My husband and I were able to ride our bikes into town and also took advantage of the camp store and laundry facilities.
