Crocker's Boatyard

Just over a mile south of downtown New London, Crocker's Boatyard operates as an active marina that welcomes RVs and campers alongside boats and marine traffic. The facility sits directly on the harbor with open terrain and no trees, giving campers unobstructed water views. Sites back up close to the water's edge, and the property includes a swimming pool, clean restrooms with showers, and both electric and water hookups for RVs.

The boatyard atmosphere means campers can watch boats being moved and launched throughout the day. Traffic from the nearby street creates noise during daytime hours but quiets down in the evening. The facility operates with security gates after hours and maintains clean facilities. GARY V. notes "It was great to have electric and water hookups" during hot weather, adding that while there are "no trees but its a boat yard," the marine activity makes it "very interesting to watch the goings on."

Downtown New London sits within walking distance, putting theaters, restaurants, and attractions like Fort Trumbull within reach on foot. The Cross Sound Ferry to Block Island operates nearby. Campers can find additional campgrounds near New London for those preferring wooded settings over waterfront marina camping.

Not what we expected

We were told when we called to inquire about the boat yard that there were facilities to dump out our black tank and gray tank. What they failed to mention was that it was at the water filtration center. To get to the filtration center you had to drive under two over passes that were only 10’ and 12’ tall. Our RV is over 13’ tall. Needless to say we had to book an at a park a few miles down the road that did have full hookup for our four days in the area. We asked at the office about getting a refund, but have yet to hear back on that matter. Not happy campers.

Thank you for your feedback. We would like to clarify that while Crocker’s Boatyard does not have an RV dump station on the property, a nearby municipal facility is available for waste disposal. The nearby municipal facility is operated independently from the boatyard, and access to that facility, including roadway and height restrictions, is outside of our control.

The 10' and 12' overpasses mentioned in your review are located on certain routes to the facility; however, there are alternate routes that can accommodate taller vehicles and RVs.

We understand that your RV’s height prevented you from accessing that location and that you chose to stay at another campground with full hookups. However, because your reservation was for your stay at Crocker’s Boatyard and we do not offer RV dump or full-hookup services, we are unable to provide a refund.

We appreciate your feedback and will work to provide clearer directions to the municipal facility for future RV guests.

Awesome

This place is fantastic and I would definitely stay again. It is a working shipyard and marina. Excellent showers. Very nice pool and pool deck with umbrella right on the water. One mile from block island ferry.

Great spot and great hosts

Crocker’s is a nice relaxing scenic place to stay in the New London area.
Walking distance to restaurants and to Fort Trumbull.
So much fun watching the boats and boating activities.
Electric and water included. There is a free dump station about a mile away (during regular business hours). *Can be found on The Dyrt.
Hosts were super friendly and had nice recommendations for places to see around town. Thank you !!!! We will definitely be visiting again.

Perfect place

We stayed there with our RV for 2 nights.  We had a spot right next to the pool and the docks. Very convenient.  The staff does a great job.

Amazing place!

The host were very responsive to questions and communication. We had a day delay due to a mechanical problem. They completely understood and made our funds available for another date of our choice based on availability. We were able to stay there the next evening.

Very concise directions on how to get into the property after the office is closed. We backed right up to the waters edge practically. The people that dock here were so friendly and welcoming. The pool is very clean as are the bathrooms and showers.
We feel very safe & secure staying here. Ice is available; cash only.

We stayed one night on the way to Cape Cod, but we will definitely be back in the near future.

I look forward to seeing what’s in the marina store before we leave.

Great central location

Loved watching the boats being moved into the water.  Close to everything we wanted to see in New London.  Heavy traffic on the street but quieted down at night.

Needed a place to stay for 2 nights , My wife and I were going to show at the Garde Theater. Which was walking distance from the boat yard.

Had a bite to eat at the Blue Duck, it was fine. Saw the show and walk back to the boat yard.

The next day we took the ferry to Block Island which was also walking distance from the boat yard. Block Island a must see. Took the 5 pm ferry back.

Had dinner at a Thai restaurant which was 5 minutes walking and it was great.

Sunday we went and visited Fort Trumbull which is also walking distance away. Very nice place to visit and learn.

Also took a tour of the Coast Guard Ship at Fort Trumbull.

Head home around 12 pm stopped a Logee's Greenhouse on the way home.

All and All it was a great get away weekend.

boat yard camping!!!

We were here on an extremely hot and humid couple days.  It was great to have electric and water hookups.  Also being able to use their pool with our grandchildren was great.  They were very accommodating with all our questions and needs.  No trees but its a boat yeard.  And very interesting to watch the goings on at a boat yard
