Clean site

We had a nice private site, close to amenities and the lake, the beach area was nice,  kind of rocky, but had sand for the beach. The play area has a nice set up, overall a nice camping area.

Nice campground

The campground is very friendly... a lot of seasonal folks. We had a nice corner site which fit our 34’ rig just fine. The sandy beach is nice but the swimming area is quite weedy. Our biggest issue though was the over-abundance of gypsy moth worms. Crawling over everything and the concern of…

Great Primative Location

I didn't get the chance to camp here, it was full when I drove through looking for a place. So I came back later in the weekend for pictures. Great location, easy access, on a nice brook. Fire ring only, no facilities and minimal parking.

Small hike into a great and private site

I recently stayed at site 1A over the Memorial day weekend(Late May/Early June). After a very quick checkin at the Park office, I headed out to my site. The site features a 200ft(60yd) hike in on a rustic trail. At the end of the trail you are greeted with a nice private site, and an equally…

Peaceful and Relaxing

We spent one night at Site 11. Check in was simple and quick, Ranger was friendly and helpful. We were able to purchase firewood on site. Our site was waterfront and shared a small beach/kayak launch with the neighboring site. Sites are a little bit close, but feel much more private thanks to the…

Get ready to walk!

Okay so. My friend and I were desperately looking for a place to spend the weekend, and with Covid making it a little more difficult to rely on walking in and finding a campsite, we made a blind reservation for site 8 on Grout pond. Here's what we wish we knew before hand:

Although BEAUTIFUL,…

A Family Tradition

I’ve been visiting Ricker Pond for nearly 20 years (except for the years that I don’t book enough in advance and aren’t able to secure a spot for my desired length of stay). My favorite lean to site is directly on the water, private, and fills up fast. My favorite cabin site, is set back from the…

Nice Lean-To Sites but...

This is one of many state parks all clustered around a few bodies of water in Vermont. The campground has a mix of standard tent/rv(no hook ups) sites and lean-to shelters. Sites are relatively close to one another but have a decent amount of vegetation between them to create a little more…

secluded spot on a great little pond

I have yet to stay here, but I have explored and walked the camp and ate lunch at the beach.

What I saw was nice, it is a rustic campground with NFS rangers checking in once in a while.  The sites are well dispersed and private.

I'm excited to camp here next season.

One of the best NY State campgrounds

The campground is located on the shores of Northern Lake George (Huage NY). It's worth noting that the campground is located about 30 miles North of the village of Lake George. You are a few miles from Ticonderoga NY (which has a super convenient Walmart). Before the pandemic, the…

Our favorite Park in the whole Vt. State Park system

Quiet little park on Ricker Pond. I have been camping at this park for 50 years. 3 generations of our family get together when we can. The pond is great for swimming, kayaking, fishing and exploring. Plenty of things to do in the Groton State Forest as well. Plenty of prime lean-to and tent sites…

  • This marsh is popular with kids and adults alike for discovering nature
  • The pavilion is a great place for group activities. There is a beautiful stone fireplace that was built by the CCC

Beaver, geese and loons

We paddled into the campground because it was officially closed. Vermont state parks allow camping in the off season, but gates are locked and bathrooms are closed so camping is primitive. We had a beautiful leanto on the water with a good place to beach the kayaks. Beavers swam by our site and…

Small and quiet. Beautiful area!

This is a pretty small State Park, so it fills up quickly. The sites on the pond are beautiful if you can get one! The campground has a small beach, boat launch and it's right on the Cross Vermont Trail. I stayed in October and it was really quiet and relaxing. There is absolutely no cell service…

Northern Forest Canoe Trail

This is only accessible by paddling the Missisquoi River. It is a very scenic spot and I have always found wood readily available. A small trail from the river leads to a bluff where there is a picnic table, fire ring and compsting toilet. There is plenty of room for several tents and hammock.
