River access draws campers to this dispersed camping area along Forest Road 25 in Green Mountain National Forest. The sites sit directly beside a flowing stream, where the sound of moving water provides a natural soundtrack throughout the night. With approximately six to eight established spots featuring fire rings, this location fills up quickly on weekends while remaining quieter during weekdays.
The gravel access road can be challenging for some vehicles, and campers should prepare for limited turnaround space once committed to the route. Most sites accommodate both RVs and tent camping, though the uneven terrain favors smaller rigs. Cell service reaches the area, allowing campers to stay connected while enjoying the riverside setting.
Forest Service officials have posted signs addressing cleanliness concerns, as some visitors have left behind debris and improperly disposed of waste. "Gorgeous stream/river…love the river sounds," notes Sigrid O., though she also observed discarded materials left by previous campers. Security remains a consideration, with at least one reported theft of camping equipment.
The day-use picnic area along Vermont Route 100 at the FR-25 intersection prohibits overnight camping, despite its proximity to the legitimate dispersed sites. Campers seeking developed facilities can find Austin Brook a short drive north.
