FISHING

Camping at Lake Marion, \*\*the largest lake in South Carolina, \*\*comes with a lot of perks, such as a phenomenal fishing opportunity. Since angling is not just about catching the biggest fish, take the chance to teach your budding fishermen the virtue of patience by the shores of Lake Marion. Some of the fish you’ll likely encounter include striped bass, channel catfish, and black crappie.

BOATING

Should fishing sound interesting, wait until you hear about the boating opportunities. Lake Marion and the neighboring Lake Moultrie are part of a navigable inland channel leading to [Charleston](<https://www.outdoorsy.com/rv-rental/south-carolina/charleston>) from Columbia. If you’re feeling eager to boat down to Charleston, you’ll get to pass through the Pinopolis Dam and Lock, which at 75-foot in height, is the largest single-step lock in North America.

HIKING

While camping in a rental motorhome at Lake Marion, fun isn’t only limited to the water. The low country in South Carolina is relatively flat, so hiking through the countryside is fairly easy. The massive Santee National Wildlife Refuge has a healthy wildlife population consisting of alligators, waterfowl, and the Springflyer Dragonfly. It is also one of the largest wetlands supporting migratory birds in Eastern USA.

HIKING & EATING IN HISTORIC CHARLESTON

The great Historic City of Charleston is very close. Hike the Arthur Ravenel Jr. Bridge - one of Charleston’s most iconic landmarks. After trekking the bridge, head over to downtown Charleston for a culinary delight tour of world-renown restaurants known only to Charleston. After eating to your heart’s content, walk and tour the largest historic district in the country. Tour beautiful historic architecture, gardens and mansions - only in Charleston!

BEACH FUN & MORE

Tucked in between two of South Carolina’s largest cities, you’ll be spoilt for choice over the number of attractions found around the lake. Since Charleston is just a short drive away, be sure to drop by for a chance to sample the town’s best beaches - Isle of Palm or Folly Beach. When packing your RV rental, don’t forget to throw in some sunscreen lotion.

If Folly Beach is your beach of choice, indulge in a self-guided tour to the edge of the island, which is locally referred to as “The Edge of America." Don’t forget a camera as the Morris Island Lighthouse is insta-worthy. If time allows it, make your way to the end of East Ashley Avenue for some snaps of the striking street graffiti.



Cedar Cross RV Campground (Lake Marion Southside)

CrossRoads Coach Resort at the ROB is a quaint little RV park located in the Heart of Art! We offer paved streets and level concrete pads with ample room for slides. All sites have 30/50 amp service, fresh water and sewer hookups. In addition there is free citywide wifi. Our bathhouse and laundry facility is under construction and we expect it to be operational shortly.

We are just a short walk or bike ride away from boutique shopping, museums, a library, fresh fruit stand, art galleries, murals, fantastic restaurants, meat and fish markets.

We are located on the grounds of Festival Park at the ROB which boasts the largest art venue in the city during ArtFields!

For families with younger children, there is a brand new playground just down the street. A boardwalk surrounds the lake providing a serene setting for a quiet walk.

Area closed to visitors during scheduled hunts. The area is open for other allowable activities during daylight hours.

The Cape Trail is closed annually from November 1st through February 8th due to hunting related activities.




Santee Coastal Reserve

Each site, excluding the designated tent sites, has water and electrical hookups and is convenient to hot showers and restrooms. Some sites have sewer hookups. All sites have complimentary wi-fi access. Several sites accommodate RVs up to 40 feet, others up to 30 feet.

While tent campers may use the sites with water and electricity, the park also offers a designated walk-in tent site area which includes tent pads and central water.

Huntington Beach State Park

## Overview

Buck Hall Recreation Area offers a premier location to enjoy the outdoors. It is situated along the Intracoastal Waterway and provides great access to Cape Romain National Wildlife Refuge, 65,000 acres of marsh, tidal creeks and beaches; and Bulls Bay, the coast's best shrimp baiting area.

## Recreation

The area is primarily used for shrimp baiting and fishing. Anglers can expect a huge variety of fish, including bass, flounder, sea trout, snapper, mackerel, swordfish, crab, shrimp, clams, oysters and more.   
  
The campground provides access to boating and ocean sailing. Fishing boats and often very large pleasure boats can be seen as they travel the popular Intracoastal Waterway.   
  
A long portion of the Palmetto Trail, which leads from the marshes of the ocean to the mountains of South Carolina, is accessible from the recreation area. Most of the trail is unpaved and can be used for hiking, biking or horseback riding, although a few sections are restricted to foot traffic only.

## Facilities

The recreation area boasts a large picnic area and multiple campsites for tent and RV camping. Full hookups are available. Each site is equipped with a table, lantern post and campfire ring with grill.   
  
Accessible flush toilets, showers and drinking water are provided. The picnic area is equipped with tables, grills, an accessible walkway and fish cleaning stations. A lighted parking area and boat ramp are on-site.

## Natural Features

The popular campground sits at sea level, alongside the Intracoastal Waterway. It is part of the Francis Marion National Forest in South Carolina. The campground itself is grassy and open, with very few trees and limited shade.

Charleston, South Carolina is about 30 miles southwest of the campground.

## Charges & Cancellations

**Reservation Fees**

In addition to camping fees a **non-refundable** reservation fee of $8.00 for telephone bookings and $6.00 for website bookings applies. 

**Cancellation Fees**

Cancellations up to 2 days before a reservation start date incur a $10.00 cancellation fee in addition to the non-refundable reservation fee.

**Late Cancellations**

A cancellation the day before or on the day of arrival incurs a $10.00 cancellation fee and will also forfeit the first night's use fee (not to exceed the total paid for the original reservation). Cancellations for single night's reservation will forfeit the entire use fee but no cancellation will apply. Non-refundable reservation fees still apply.
