Aging park with good and bad

Park is pretty overall but badly aging. Renovated bathrooms are marginal with tons of maintenance issues and not terribly clean. For instance hot water is a challenge and many broken latches on showers and toilet stalls left you exposed. We had one of the ancient spots with shared power pole that we had to use converter to use the remaining 50amp (we only needed 30). Feel sorry if you were a class A rig and needed the 50 and only had 40 left. Site was large but horrible cable connection, and could not use sewer connection as our “stuff” dies not flow uphill. Avoid the back in regular spots. Pay more for newer albeit very clean together patio spots. And sadly a rustic spot like ours was $87/night. The good is you are in walking distance of Myrtle beach, shops, and restaurants. But we were very disappointed in the area either 1-3 star hotels, lousy food, and cheap trinket shops. Beach is ok but there are much better in Florida, Georgia, and Alabama. Like this KOA, maintenance is not a priority for the town or merchants as commercial properties were run down, littered, and many were out of business. Our advice is go someplace else. This area is sad.

Save your hard earned dollars!

Very overpriced! $100 for a dirt site covered in pine needles and roots making it impossible to level and no sewer. Cold showers, so far to all to everything and the pics for the dog park weren’t accurate at all.. so small I couldn’t even throw the ball for my dog. Check out is 10am so you don’t have much time to enjoy any of the amenities that morning. $140 a night for an RV pad! You can stay at an rv park in the area for half the price with hot showers and all the same amenities right on the beach. I do not recommend

Good for Families

If you’re traveling with kids, great place. Lots of activities for them. You can find a spot with shade or they have very nice pull through ones that include grills. Not all have grills so if that’s important to you, make sure you double check. Staff is wonderful. Refer to attached photo so you can avoid being placed right next door to the bathrooms. We rolled up and our assigned site backed up to the bathroom building. The staff was super kind and moved us since that’s not our jam. Very close to town and you can walk or bike. They also have golf cart rentals. Internet was horrible. Couldn’t get on. Quiet spot. Bathrooms are typical for a park - clean. Did not use showers but pics posted here.

Decent place to stay for a few nights

We arrived on a Wednesday night after the office had closed but there was a person available at the gate to check us in. Went right to our campsite and set up for the night, campsite was flat and located right near the jump pad which was great for us. The next few days were nice as well, we had a few hot days to get in the pool and sprinkler area which were all clean and easy to access at the campsite. We walked up to where the playground and Gaga pit were and they seemed nice enough but didn’t stay there long because our children were more interested in the jump pad anyway. It was easy to bike around the campsite and you can rent a golf cart as well. This campsite was close (walking distance) to the main strip (business 17) of Myrtle beach. A close drive to all the Myrtle beach attractions and the beach as well. We visited in April and were very lucky to have hot and sunny weather. The day we left was raining and very cold. Check out was fine, no issues. Compared to some of the other RV resorts in the area, the price was better but they had less amenities for children. I also prefer more dispersed sites and more privacy which I doubt is offered here but was good for a few days. Thank you, we’d return.

Great campground and people in a bad neighborhood 😔

Very nice campground with super nice people. Walking distance to beach. Facilities clean, trash pickup, super friendly staff.

It was like the campground had a protective dome that kept the issues going on around us, out of the campground (great security staffing). Sirens, shootings daily...especially at night. We didn't realize this until we started taking walks to the beach and we're late walking back to campground. Then having our suspicions confirmed by a business just off the strip, I couldn't get back to the campground fast enough before it got dark.

Sad, loved the campground and beach not the area.

Great KOA!

We are more than pleased with our stay at MB KOA! The sites are bigger than most places we've been to, and the entire place is very shaded! We had a ton of open space since we were there late August and it was maybe 1/3 full. I imagine during busy times and holidays it's super packed.

Location is good. You CAN walk to the beach but we didn't as some of the streets between the grounds and ocean Blvd were questionable plus there was plenty of parking available.

The staff and workers are nice, responsive and do a great job. Also, they keep up with the property very well. The pool area and splash pad was nice too. Definitely keep your trash locked up overnight, the racoons and squirrels are relentless 😀

Rustic Cabin Check in delay

We just visited the Myrtle Beach KOA and stayed in one of their rustic camping cabins. First the good — The staff we dealt with were pleasant and helpful. The campground was generally clean and there was a reasonable amount of space between the sites. Now the bad — we arrived at 4:30pm to check in and found that the camp store closed at 4:00pm - everyday. For those who forgot something or needed to pick up some ice or other necessity, you would have to leave the campground to get it. Second; upon arrival (4:30) we were told that none of the rustic cabins were ready and to come back in an hour. Not a great way to be welcomed. Next, the shower/bath house appeared clean but there was a distinct smell that made it feel like it might not have been that clean. Finally, the KOA is right downtown, so there is a good deal of noise from outside the campground. Lots of sirens, fireworks, and engine noise from US 17(Business). Final analysis: We really don’t like Myrtle Beach (too much of a tourist trap) and we probably wouldn’t come back. We were only there because I had some work to do in the area and needed a less expensive place to stay.

Nice stopover

We only stayed here one night as we were traveling to points south. It was February, so not packed full, but a fair amount of “winter camping” enthusiasts in the park. Typical of a KOA, sites are rather closely packed. It’s very nicely wooded for the most part and there are a variety of options to be had, including camping cabins. There are also luxury rv sites that have cement pads with patios, grills and patio furniture along with full hookups. We happened to be there after a period of heavy rain and there were large puddles and some sites partially flooded, so there might be some drainage issues. The bathhouse was acceptable, not really new, basic but clean with lots of hot water. A few blocks from the beach, but they have a shuttle (in-season) and golf carts to rent. I imagine it’s a very busy place during peak season. Friendly check-in with a helpful escort to the site. Camp store, laundry, games and play areas for kids also available.

An oasis

As we got closer to the KOA our expectations began to drop since we were driving through residential and commercial areas. But we were very pleasantly surprised at how quiet and relaxing the campground is! The campsites are nicely shaded, spacious and range from tent sites to deluxe pull-throughs to very nice cabins right on the water - some even have a deck that extends to the water’s edge. The staff is super friendly and helpful! You’re literally a block away from the beach and the campground runs a shuttle to the beach throughout the day, all the amenities you could need are just minutes away. An amazing place for families or if you’re looking to get away for a beach vacation.

Nice Holiday Weekend

Surely Labor Day weekend is one of their busiest weekends for multiple reasons. Even with that we had a great time. The kids enjoyed the amenities and we enjoyed our wooded pull-thru spot. If anything, IMHO, can be improved it would be a more relaxed check-out time. On the busiest weekend it’s difficult for everyone to exit at 10AM. Great time. The family and I will definitely return.

Great location and amenities!

This campground is in a great location. Just 3 blocks from the beach. They have a shuttle that runs every hour. We chose to rent a golf cart while we were there which you are allowed to take outside of the campground. You just have to stay on roads that are 35mph and under. We really enjoyed cruising around and to the beach on it.

All of the other popular attractions are super close by. The longest drive we had to get to anything was 10 mins.

They also have a great pool, splash pad, jumping pillow, playground, and other scheduled kids activites. In addition there is a amphitheater where they have live music on certain nights. Another fun surprise was that they have free pancakes every morning from 9am-10am in the seating area by their small restaurant.

We stayed in a deluxe patio site which was great. Especially with the rain storms that are inevitable at the beach. Someone else in our party was at a full hookup back in site, and it got pretty swampy with the rain in those sites. The deluxe patio site came with a fire ring with two chairs, a small table with 2 chairs, and a Weber grill to use, which was nice so we didn’t have to dirty ours.

The ground were well maintained, and even during the rain storms you would always see groundskeepers hard at work.

They are currently working on updating some of the cabins, and freshening up paint and such around the campground. I am excited to see how it looks the next we go.

I would highly recommend staying here for your Myrtle Beach vacation.

Great location for downtown Myrtle Beach

If you want to be near the happenings of downtown Myrtle Beach, this is the best campground to stay at. The first downside is that it is a block offset from the beach, although they run a free shuttle to the beach. Fortunately you can bring your own golf cart or rent one, and even rental ones are allowed outside of the campground within a 2 mile radius, making it very convenient to get around.

The second downside is that a majority of the sites use lava rock for the campsite pads. While that makes it easy for them to maintain, it is not beach friendly and barefoot friendly even with numerous carpets out.

They are conveniently located right across the street from Family Kingdom Amusement park so it is easy to take the family over there when you are looking for a way to spend your evening.

We have stayed here in a travel trailer, a Class C motor home, and a Class A motor home. Staff is very friendly and helpful.
