Several RV parks near Blue Bell provide full-hookup options for motorhomes and travel trailers. Spring Gulch Resort Campground in New Holland operates from March through December with 50-amp electric, water, and sewer connections on sites that accommodate larger rigs. Village Scene Park in Hatfield remains open year-round with big-rig friendly spaces, though fires are not permitted. Sun Valley Campground in Narvon features spacious pull-through sites with full hookups, operating April through November. Little Red Barn Campground in Quakertown offers both back-in and pull-through options with 50-amp service. "The sites are mostly back-in sites. All the sites at the top were just as awesome," noted one visitor about their experience parking a 31-foot travel trailer.

Navigating to some campgrounds requires careful planning due to narrow, winding roads in the Pennsylvania countryside. A bridge washout near Philadelphia West Chester KOA required some travelers to take a 30-minute detour, highlighting the importance of checking current directions before arrival. Most parks provide sanitary dump stations, though French Creek State Park visitors mentioned "pitiful low water pressure" and high sewer connections that complicated drainage. Cell service varies significantly between locations, with Verizon showing just one bar at French Creek while other parks offer functional Wi-Fi for streaming. Pet-friendly options exist at most parks, though some restrict dogs to specific loops or areas. Propane refill stations are available at several locations, including Spring Gulch and Little Red Barn, eliminating the need to disconnect and drive elsewhere for refueling.

      Lowe's - W Windsor

Upscale Parking Paradise at This Home Fixer-Upper

Located just off US Route 1 in the upscale Princeton area, this spacious Lowe's serves up a surprisingly pleasant patch of pavement for weary road warriors looking to catch some shut-eye. Set back roughly 80 yards from the highway, this big blue home improvement retailer offers a generously sized parking lot with relatively manageable traffic, good maneuverability and a quieter atmosphere than you might expect from such a busy suburban retail corridor. The western and southern edges of the lot are particularly appealing for an overnight stay, and with Trader Joe's, Starbucks and several other retailers nearby, convenience certainly isn't in short supply. Better yet, the store management was friendly and accommodating when we called ahead to arrange our overnight visit.

HIGHLIGHTS: (1) Spacious, paved parking lot with plenty of room to maneuver larger rigs; (2) Convenient access to US Route 1 and nearby I-95; (3) Western and southern parking areas offer quieter spots away from the busiest customer traffic; (4) Excellent nearby conveniences, including Trader Joe's, Starbucks and several dining options; and (5) Friendly store management that welcomed our overnight stay, plus surprisingly good opportunities for outdoor recreation nearby.

LOWLIGHTS: (1) Some daytime retail traffic and occasional road noise, although nothing terribly disruptive; (2) No RV hookups, dump station or dedicated overnight camping facilities; (3) Parking areas closest to the store can become crowded during business hours; (4) Limited greenery and little of the scenery you'd expect from a traditional campground; and (5) While the overnight experience was excellent, this is still a commercial parking lot rather than a destination for an extended stay.

      Happy Overnighting!

      Country Acres Campground

      Lovely campground!

Country Acres is a lovely, well maintained campground. Sites are level and bath house facilities clean and modern. Friendly staff in the office. Dog friendly. Local to all the Lancaster attractions. A complimentary farmland tour is offered by bus and it was great. They take you out into an area of Amish farms and shops and make a stop at 2 of these. The fresh Amish pretzels are amazing!

Atsion Family Camp — Wharton State Forest

      Pine Barrens New Jersey

This campground is part of the Wharton State Forest and has several campgrounds in the area. Great wooded sites right on a lake. Pretty good separation between sites with good tree separation between sites. Some road noise not overly affecting site.

      Just ok

Restrooms are filthy with mold and mildew.

Water puddled on the restroom floor.really gross.

Cabin was mostly clean. The windows were full of dirt and bugs on the tracks.mattresses were terrible. The fireplace was nice. Kitchen was clean.

Can t wait to move on to a cleaner park.

      Beacon Hill Camping

      Great location

We stayed here to go to the Hershey RV show—about 55 min drive. Right in the center of Amish country. Campground is adults only. It was very clean. The bathrooms were very clean with great water pressure. The roads are tight for getting into sites. Site 5 was not level side to side. We met great people there.

      Tohickon Family Campground

      Simple, peaceful FHU

We stayed just a couple nights here on our way north. The camp host was helpful before our stay and during check-in. Our site was pretty isolated from the others, so it was very quiet (no complaints here). There is a decent mix of sunny sites by the river and shady sites under the trees. The weather was perfect mid September. There wasn't anything spectacular for me, but it was a good experience and it was a nice taste of fall PA scenery. Beware that the roads are tight for a big rig. Side note, it did seem like most campers lived there.

      Country Acres Campground

      Excellent But.

The campground is in excellent condition. The facilities are top notch. The excellence and care of the campground is evident. The 4 stars is only due to the road noise and many of the sites are on top of each other. You feel like your neighbor is at your camp fire.

      Beautiful campground, loud campers

Beautiful campground but made the mistake of going on a holiday weekend, the campgrounds next to us were screaming and blasting music all day and throughout the night so we ended up leaving early. A beautiful campground when there aren’t noisy capers ruining it.

      Tohickon Valley County Park

      First time camping

As far as experience it was good. The main issue was the campsite where we were was uneven and caused many of the sleeping arrangements that we had to be not level. This seems to be a specific issue to the group campsite number two as when we went inwards it seemed like everything else was much better.

    Guide to Blue Bell

Pennsylvania campgrounds near Blue Bell provide convenient options for outdoor recreation within 30-45 minutes of the city. Most sites in this region sit between 500-800 feet elevation with a typical camping season running April through November. Several campgrounds feature field sites on grass alongside traditional gravel pads with varying degrees of shade and privacy.

    What to do

Fishing opportunities: Lake-In-Wood Campground has a fishing pond stocked seasonally, though some campers note limitations. "Fishing pond is a joke and near by Gun Range can be annoying and tough on pets. But, over all, this place is pretty nice," explains one visitor.

Disc golf courses: Green Lane Park combines camping with recreational activities including an 18-hole disc golf course. A camper mentioned, "Phenomenal disc golf course, hiking, and fishing" are available at this Montgomery County park.

Local history exploration: Several campgrounds provide access to historic sites within a short drive. At Village Scene Park, a camper suggested, "For history buffs, check out nearby Morgan Log House, which has some nice historical significance and is super close to VSP."

    What campers like

Pool facilities: Most campers appreciate the swimming options at Little Red Barn Campground, with one reviewer noting, "The pool was awesome. The rest was just OK." Another visitor highlighted that "children under the age of 14 must be accompanied by an adult. There is also a separate kiddie pool."

Weekend entertainment: Spring Gulch Resort Campground offers scheduled activities, particularly on weekends. "They had a live band one evening. Activities through the day were fun," reported one camper. Another mentioned, "This resort is a lot bigger than you would anticipate from the road/entryway. Tons of amenities for families including mini golf, an arcade, pools, fishing ponds, etc. Not to mention live music on the weekends!"

Privacy in tent areas: Several campers noted that primitive tent sites offer more seclusion than RV areas. "The Tent sites are The Best Thing about this Place, They are a lot more Private and spacious," observed a Little Red Barn camper, while another added "primitive sites are very private, friendly staff, clean grounds."

    What you should know

Bathroom access: Campground bathhouses vary considerably in quality and proximity to sites. At Little Red Barn, a camper warned about "only one bathroom and it's very far from the primitive sites."

Weather preparedness: The Pennsylvania countryside can experience significant storms. At Robin Hill Campground, "Sites are swampy if they've had rain! Took us over two hours to disconnect because of mushy, muddy site!" warned one RVer.

Seasonal vs. transient mix: Several campgrounds have high percentages of seasonal residents. A visitor to Stonybrook RV Resort commented, "Mostly seasonal campers, we were one of the few transient campers for our visit. Also, no real good area to walk the dogs."

    Tips for camping with families

Supervised pool areas: Stonybrook RV Resort maintains well-kept pool facilities. "Their pool looked very nice although we did not use it. Same with their patio set up around the store," noted one visitor, while another mentioned "The pool was warm, clean and enjoyable. There's a nice playground and a GaGa pit."

Recreation equipment loans: Some campgrounds offer complimentary sports equipment. At Spring Gulch, "Lots of sports gear available for free to use within park, has to be returned by 5 when main office closes."

Pet-friendly considerations: Not all areas welcome dogs equally. Green Lane Park allows pets but with limited space, as one visitor noted: "The sites are large but there is NO privacy. The sites are lined up next to each other along the campground driveway and there are absolutely no trees or shrubs between them."

    Tips from RVers

Site selection challenges: At Sun Valley Campground, sites vary considerably in quality and size. One RVer reported, "Very large park. Showed up on Wednesday, and was assigned a spot in loop 700 up on a hill in the center of a ring of trailers, past a lot of full-timers. Cable does not work. No internet. 2 bars LTE on T-Mobile."

Leveling requirements: Many RV sites in this region require attention to leveling. "Our site was almost level but in order to reach the electric connection, we were sloped slightly downhill side-to-side," reported one camper at Little Red Barn.

Stay length options: Village Scene Park offers various stay durations with corresponding pricing. "Prices were standard at $46/night; $274/week and $595/month – not great, but not too terribly bad considering you are so near a major metro," noted a visitor staying at this rv campground near Blue Bell, Pennsylvania.
