    Timber Ridge Campgrounds

    Great Experience

We stayed at Timber Ridge for a month and found this to be a very nice campground. Stores are very level, full hookups, fishing pond, amazing indoor swimming pool. Staff was extremely nice. Many if the campers are long term but have several overnight doors as well.

We stayed in a 29ft Travel Trailer, but sites could handle the largest of rigs.

    Easy, nice stop

This campground is right off of interstate 80, and a very easy stop! Clean bathrooms/showers, mostly level sites, full hook ups available, tent area available, nice pool and play area. Sites are good size in length, but pretty close to your neighbor. Enough space to sit, but not much room. Only about 15 minutes to Cedar Point which is a nice, easy drive. Not much in the camp store and not many opportunities to shop nearby.

    First Outing

Classic woods car/trailer camping. This is our families "home" park since it is so close. There needs to be a lot of cleanup, the woods inbetween sites and overrun with dead and falling trees. Overall it is just as I expect from year to year ever since I was a little kid.

    You pay for the experience

Very much the quintessential RV park. Overpriced, but you are really paying to be close to the amusement park.

Full hookups. Nice pool, close to the beach. Clean bathrooms and showers. Fully stocked store. Close to neighbors, but some well-placed shrubbery makes it feel private.
Camping here allows an hour early into the park.

    Woodside Lake Park

Primarily a Seasonal and Day Use Campground

This is a really nice family campground and day use area. There are lots of activities centered around the lake and beach area. It has a store and other recreational areas. There is a lot of day use activity around the lake. The majority of RV’s I say were seasonal with full long-term hookups. There were just a few short-term travelers. The area I was camped in was called Lower Meadow, and they had apparently received a lot of rain because they had recently added large stones to define the RV site area. It was not ideal but seemed to work ok. The spacing between sites is not great. I was right next to the maintenance area which included buildings, tractors, lawn mowers and other equipment. A lot of the better campgrounds have those things set apart. There is convenient access to Cuyahoga NP and shopping in Akron for major resupply needs

    Caskey's Campground

One of the few places within driving distance of Cuyahoga Valley NP

There are very few campgrounds near Cuyahoga Valley NP. Caskey's campground in Orrville is about 30 minutes away.  Most of the campsites are occupied by long-term residents - only a few sites are used by people like us staying just a few nights.  We were there for 3 nights.  People were friendly enough.  Sites have water and electric, and there's a dump station.  The bathroom facilities are a little rough but functional.  The road in is really bumpy so take it slow.

State park with site for everything from tents to 5th wheel campers

A variety of sites from primitive to full hook up. Flush toilets and clean showers. The lake is small and limited to electric motors only, but nice for kayaks and SUP. And for those of you looking for a little more comfort check out the lodge for a little less rugged stay.

    Beautiful surroundings

This is a beautiful location. Lots of long term campers. Beautiful trees and the fishing lakes had lovely benches. We were just passing through and the staff made an after hours check in simple and effortless. The fact that we could book and reserve our exact spot online also made it great. Sites had a bit of space so that was nice. We would definitely return for vacation.

    Love the Lake!

This state park has a lot to offer with the highlight being a large 2,650-lake that appeals to fishermen, boaters, and swimmers. The park is over 5,000 acres and not only has camping but hiking, volleyball, fishing, playgrounds, picnicking, hunting, horseback riding, and more.

The campground is divided into three loops with nearly 200 sites. Campsites include those with full hook-up (50 amp), electric only (50 amp), and some with no electric. This campground is suitable for everything from large RVs to tents. Sites and roads are paved and each site has a picnic table and fire pit. In loops where there is no water directly at the site, water spigots are scattered throughout. The restroom/bathhouses in our loop were really nice, modern, clean, and had laundry facilities which is a real plus at a state park campground. Campsites can be reserved online up to six months in advance. Since we were here in April, the campground was practically empty and getting a site was no problem. But, if you want one of the 29 full hook-up sites in the summer, you better book early.

We really enjoyed the hiking trails and being able to leave our campsite and be right on the trails. There are approximately 12 miles of hiking trails and an additional 20 miles that are open to horses and snowmobiles. (Be aware that hunting is permitted in certain areas.)

The park is about 15 miles from Cuyahoga Valley National Park which is a fantastic place to explore with a lot going on for the whole family! If you are interested in football, the National Football Hall of Fame is just down the road in Canton. The town of Hudson has a pretty, historic downtown with a fun old soda fountain.

We would definitely stay at this campground again. It was a perfect place to stay while visiting family in the nearby town of Hudson. Loved having a paved site with full hook-ups especially since there was a lot of rain while we were there. The lake was perfect for kayaking and had we been able to stay longer we would have spent more time on the water.

    Friendly and quiet

My wife and I visited in early May 2023, they were just starting to open things up after drying out. The camp hosts were super friendly about helping get us arranged and everything we needed. Many long-term residents here and they seemed friendly and kept the place looking nice. Many of the sites are grassy and I could see the potential to get stuck if you ended up in heavy rains. Mobile service was decent in most parts of the park although our spot F30 was on the fringe for usable video.

    Not full hook up

We only had a brief stay but it was a very nice park. The only downfall I saw is that it is not full hook up in most spots. It looked like there was a lot to do and it was a nice family place. Everyone was out and about.

great except weather, but the park is a favorite of mine. came lots of times when I was a child, brought my 2 boys every year when they were young, now enjoying same park in retirement. lots of walking trails, beach not so perfect, only 15 spots with full hook up, but is a great place to get back with nature. shut off the social media, and enjoy.

    Punderson State Park Campground....Beautiful location!!!

We recently spend the weekend at Punderson State Park Campground to visit family.  There is a ton of stuff to do at this park and it is spread out so you do not feel on top of each other.  We stayed at Site 11, this site is on the road with full hook-ups only.  The rest of the part is water and electric.  We enjoyed hiking, biking, kayaking and sharing stories.  There is a beautiful lodge across from the campground that has cabins to rent.  Although we didn't play, there is a 27 hole disc golf course, a regular golf course, archery range and several hiking trails.  This place will be on our list to return.  The only downside was the lake had alot of algae, but this is expected in the heat of summer.

    Equine Camping

I loved to camp in the Horse camping area but this year they are allowing tent campers to camp there and it is just not safe.  There are multiple tents, sometimes in between horse campers.  There are children running around and since this in the back of the campground with no supervision, the campers are leaving garbage at the sites and in the fire pits.

There are two camp hosts in that area and they do the best they can to educate people on horses but most do not understand they were even booked in the horse camp nor do they understand that horses can spook.

The hosts are trying to clean up after these bad campers and reporting them but there does not seem to be anything they can do. They would never allow this kind of thing to happen in the main campground.

If the campers are allowed to camp in the horse camp then the horse campers should be allowed in the main camp.  I sure would  like a full hook up with electricity and water for my horse trailer.

Whats fair is fair.  Why even designate a section just for Horse campers if you are going to allow primitive campers to camp there.

Last year there may have been one or two tents here and there through out the season but this year the tent campers outnumber the horse campers.

    Outstanding site in great campground

Stayed on a premium patio site and loved it. The campground and staff were awesome. Level site, great hook ups, awesome WiFi and cable. Clean facilities, 3 lakes (one with a fishing pier), 2 dog parks, and super friendly staff. 30 min to Cleveland. Walmart, gas stations and restaurants within 5 miles. Just off Ohio Turnpike, but can't hear it. Definitely recommend this KOA

    Convenient to Cuyahoga NP

Gave it an extra star for proximity to Cuyahoga Valley NP, bargain price for a site with electric hookups, quiet setting and helpful hosts. No road noise, other campers very considerate. Sites are grass or overgrown gravel. Semi-level. Site #1 was very difficult to level a 24 ft trailer and full sun. Site #4 was much better and full shade. There is also a wooded walking trail network on the east and North sides of the campground.

    Happy Camping

Relax, breath, and camp. Perfect spot.

This Campground is quiet, full of fun, for families or older people. Beautiful area.
Many pull through lots, with patios. 50. 30. Full hookup, (sewer and Electric) back in, pull through, tent sites, cabins, teepees. Swimming pool, private bathrooms and showers. Fishing lake, swimming lake, trails. Children play areas. Basketball, bad mitten/volleyball, Dog wash, dog parks (2), private fenced dog sites. (2)- pull through site. Golf cart rentals, and seasonal sites that are being updated, but all are decorated nicely, and kept up.
KOA is revamping some of this campground. Work in progress, but awesome stay.

    Camping on the Hills

The park is very nice. Great Lodge. Nice lakes and cabins to rent. The camp grounds for RV's is not the best. Very few full hookups. Rest of the sites only have 15-20 amp service. The lots are not even close the level. You will need a lot of blocks to get close to level. Saw one RV with auto levelers with his tire about foot off the ground. If they leveled the lots and added water and at least 30 amp electric it would help a lot.

Clean, Cheap and Safe place to stop for the night

Pulled in to the RV parking area around 9:45 pm, there was one other vehicle there. 3 more came and parked before midnight. Felt completely safe and not crowded by the campers on either side. The actual service station across the way was incredibly clean and comfortable. 3 or 4 restaurants, Starbucks, maps and guidebooks available. Best $20 nights sleep I ever got.

    Findley State Park Campground

    Very charming park

This park had a few cool things we haven't seen at the other state parks yet. Cute things like a bike repair station that holds your bike and has tethered tools to use, an outdoor "take a book, leave a book" library with a "take a stick, leave a stick" area for the dogs, dog tie ups and dog pick up bags around the entire park and a Storybook trail that has storybook characters throughout the hike. There is a very small but interactive nature center with a live bee hive and a small store, many picnic areas, tons of parking to access the various lake and trails, including a medium size beach with restrooms and a seasonal concession stand.

We stayed at site 210 and absolutely loved it. It is one of the larger sites, separated by trees and plenty of spots to hang some hammocks. One site over was one of the MANY paths to the MANY trails throughout the entire park. I'm not sure I've ever seen so many hiking and biking trails in a single location and is clearly one of the parks biggest attractions. The trail behind our site went along the lake that you could just see through the woods from our site and branched off in many directions. We stayed "out of season" and during the week so it was extremely peaceful and vacant. The shower houses were very modern and well kept. My only issue was the showerheads being under 6' high on the walls was a bit awkward. Also, cell service was surprisingly good at our actual site but extremely spotty anywhere else in the park. I have Mint (T-mobile/Sprint) and my wife has Verizon.

Now for the neutrals and negatives. All sites, except for the few full hook-ups and handicap sites, are gravel and not the most level. The park only has flush toilets in the couple shower houses. The latrines' throughout the park are a mix from very new style latrines' with LED lights, to rental porta-potties. Maybe due to it being so late in the season but the latrine in the center of our cul-de-sac was extremely full, smelled at our site quite often and was more full of sewer flies then I have ever seen.

The majority of the campsites are non-electric. These areas are much more tree covered and seem to have much larger sites. Unfortunately, these are also the majority of the areas with the rental porta-potties.

Seems like a good deal, but with extra charges

This was a nice spot with lots of family activities. Lots were pretty large and well maintained. But this is more of a local hangout with a ton of permanent spots. There aren’t any signs to follow to lead you to the campground. I prepaid in full with no refund because it was a holiday weekend. They don’t have the technology to email you a confirmation or receipt, so you either have to hope they have your reservation or call ahead to confirm. Never did get a copy of my receipt. They have a bunch of rules about visitors, and charge you for every single person (yes, there is a person at the gate checking passes!). Permanent residents were racing through the campground on their golf carts and blaring music. I was disappointed we didn’t get a full hook-up site, only to find out they don’t have any (and this is a large campground!). But, for a prepaid fee, you can schedule an appointment to have someone come by and dump you out. I overheard our neighbors say they would never stay there again, so I asked what their experience had been. They complained about the loud neighbors, charges for visitors (had to pay $70 for one day!), and they paid for a dump but the person never showed up. For such a large campground they only have two bathroom spots. Bathrooms by the pool were full of sand and flies, and could have been better stocked.

    Great for the kids.

Went to this nice little spot with 4 kids , the hound and my wife. The 9 tent sites are very large and spacious . It is mostly an established Rv Park . The community was very kind. Showers were clean and spacious. Pool was closed since went before Memorial Day but it was a nice medium sized pool. The camp store had plenty of odds and ends in case you forget something small. There is a local butcher shop right around the corner and they have an incredible selection to choose from . The Buckeye ebail connects to the footpath down to the reservoir . All and all it was a fun spot to enjoy some car camping with the family. I wish I would of brought my yak so we could have explored the reservoir a bit more . Would of been a short carry from the site and there is a dock just outside of the campground if carrying is not your thing.

    Spotless

Concrete pads. Level! Full hookups were simple to use. The pool area was super clean. One of the thinks I liked best was there was a garbage can on every site! If you can, get a super patio site. Really cool and fun. Not sure if it was just me, but seemed to be lots of spider cob webs.
