Great for the price and location

Stayed here to be close to the NP and it is a great little campground for a reasonable price. Big dog park with pond on the other side of the park. Sites are uneven but my favorite part was the wooded path.

      Nice campground near Cuyahoga

We were in the area exploring Cuyahoga Nat Park and found Silver Springs. It was 18$ for a site with electric hook ups (15$ if you are a Stow resident) No option for no paying less for no hook-up camping. Water close by and port a pottie style bathrooms close to the camp sites. There are flush toilets a walk away but we didn’t use them. Sites are big and grassy but not super level. Wasn’t a big issue for us but could be for a bigger camper. The campground was calm and quiet. Lots of trails close by. Dog park down the street as well as a play ground and fishing pond! We had a great few days staying here and will be back if we are even passing thru Stow again.

      Lots of options!

We really loved this little spot! It appealed to all of what we were looking for, our camp host was awesome. There was even a dog park within walking distance- a lot of trails to explore too. No showers and the Porto potties weren't the cleanest... But they were functional. Very hospitable locals- we were invited to a square dancing party that evening in the park! Very comfy and safe.

      Silver Springs Campground

      Great parking

The bathrooms are portojons and there are no showers, however there is THE best dog park I have ever seen in this area. So my dogs loved this campground more than me and that was worth it. It was dark enough to see a space station cross the sky at night. The camping spaces are rather close, but so many people want to camp there, because of its proximity to everything amazing.

    Guide to Rocky River

Campgrounds near Rocky River, Ohio offer diverse camping experiences for outdoor enthusiasts throughout most of the year. Sites range from tent camping to full-service RV hookups across several different terrain types within a 30-mile radius. Several locations feature a mix of wooded and open sites with varying degrees of privacy between campsites.

    What to do

Kayaking at Findley State Park: Launch from the park's lake access points for paddling through calm waters. "Took the kayaks out on the lake and had a great time," writes Linda R. from Findley State Park Campground.

Disc golf course: Punderson State Park maintains an 18-hole course through wooded areas. "Opportunities for disc golf, archery range, canoeing/kayaking/row boats, swimming and golf," notes Rebecca G., highlighting the variety of activities available beyond standard camping.

Fish in separate lakes: Willow Lake Park features designated fishing and swimming areas to avoid conflicts. "Fishing lake and swimming lake are separate. Multiple bathroom/shower locations. Game room, snack pavilion and general store," explains Jack K., describing the Willow Lake Park Inc layout.

Christmas tree farm exploration: Heritage Farms offers unique camping within an active tree farm. "It's hard to not give it any lower than 5 stars when you literally camp within a Christmas tree farm. It's a dream," shares Brady R., describing the unusual setting that creates a distinctive camping atmosphere.

    What campers like

Family activities and entertainment: Weekend events create social opportunities at many campgrounds. "Stay here for the holiday weekend, they offer plenty of activities for everyone. Had a band each night!" notes ivory L. about Willow Lake Park Inc.

Dog-friendly facilities: Silver Springs Campground features an exceptional off-leash area. "Fantastic dog park with a swimming beach for dogs only. Fun to watch them play even if you don't have a dog," writes Judy F., highlighting a unique amenity not common at all campgrounds.

Seasonal camping community: Many locations have permanent seasonal campers who return regularly. "We camp here seasonal and love it," mentions Cassie V., explaining the community atmosphere at American Wilderness Campground.

Proximity to national park: Several campgrounds provide convenient access to Cuyahoga Valley National Park. "Been here a few times for day trips first time camping will definitively come back," shares Joe I. about the location advantages of Punderson State Park.

    What you should know

Site terrain varies significantly: Many campgrounds feature unlevel sites requiring preparation. "The lots are not even close to level. You will need a lot of blocks to get close to level. Saw one RV with auto levelers with his tire about foot off the ground," cautions Coy at Punderson State Park Campground.

Water quality considerations: Some locations have noticeable mineral content in water. "The water, while I'm sure was fine, had an odor to it so I didn't partake," notes Wilson W., describing conditions at Willow Lake Park.

Tent site access challenges: Some tent sites require carrying gear from parking areas. "You park near the front of the campgrounds to check in, and then you are provided wagons to carry your gear to your site," explains Abbey E. about Heritage Farms.

Bathroom facilities vary widely: Maintenance and amenities differ between locations. "Cold showers free, $0.50 for 5 minutes of hot water. I chose the latter. Bath house was clean but dated," reports Wilson W., describing practical details for shower users.

    Tips for camping with families

Beach and swimming options: Multiple locations offer water recreation specifically designed for children. "We loved the beach and the fun we have had this is our favorite place to camp," shares Mallory N. about American Wilderness Campground.

Playgrounds and recreation areas: Look for campgrounds with dedicated play spaces. "The playground was good for the kids. The grounds are well maintained. There's a good-sized fishing pond and a separate swimming pond," notes Derek N., describing facilities that keep children entertained.

Evening entertainment: Some campgrounds schedule regular activities. "Bad Juju was definitely a favorite of mine. During the band and the day they have a concession stand open with really good food," explains ivory L., detailing evening activities at Willow Lake Park.

Space between sites: Family groups often need more room to spread out. "We had a nice fire roasting s'mores the atmosphere is so clean and nice," notes Cassie V., highlighting the importance of adequate campsite space for family activities.

    Tips from RVers

Overnight turnpike parking: Ohio Turnpike service plazas offer convenient RV parking with limited amenities. "Electric hookups. Dump station with potable water and if you want to take a shower (which I didn't) they have free showers!" explains Candy C. about Service Plaza - Middle Ridge Overnight Parking, which provides a secure option for travelers.

Level site selection: Check campground maps carefully before booking. "The sites greatly vary on size and flatness so make sure you look at the pictures of the site before you book some are basically the parking pad and a fire ring," advises Joe I., providing practical guidance for RV setup.

Hookup limitations: Not all campgrounds advertised for RVs have full hookups. "No full hookups as indicated on some search sites," warns Tina R., noting that some facilities may have limited utility connections despite allowing RV camping.

Electric service capacity: Check amperage availability when planning your stay. "Very few full hookups. Rest of the sites only have 15-20 amp service," cautions Coy, highlighting potential power limitations for larger RVs requiring more electrical capacity.
