    First Outing

Classic woods car/trailer camping. This is our families "home" park since it is so close. There needs to be a lot of cleanup, the woods inbetween sites and overrun with dead and falling trees. Overall it is just as I expect from year to year ever since I was a little kid.

    Scenic Large Camping Area

This park is fantastic because not only does it offer a large amount of more spread out RV hookups and campsites but also miles of hiking, mountain biking and horse trails as well as a canoe livery down the road. There are a couple waterfalls, a scenic overlook, fire tower, dam, pavilions, playgrounds and lots more.

    Caskey's Campground

One of the few places within driving distance of Cuyahoga Valley NP

There are very few campgrounds near Cuyahoga Valley NP. Caskey's campground in Orrville is about 30 minutes away.  Most of the campsites are occupied by long-term residents - only a few sites are used by people like us staying just a few nights.  We were there for 3 nights.  People were friendly enough.  Sites have water and electric, and there's a dump station.  The bathroom facilities are a little rough but functional.  The road in is really bumpy so take it slow.

    Incorrect pricing

The price advertised on The Dyrt is incorrect. It is not $38.50/day. We paid $50.29 with full hook ups. Very clean, staff very nice, but guests are not allowed without registering at the office. Many seasonal/full time residents which made for quite a bit of early morning traffic. Beautiful fishing pond with well groomed trails. Dogs are allowed off leash on the trails. Staff very pet friendly and courteous. Well appointed camp store. Water pressure excellent. Electric well within standard. Gravel pads, our site was off 2”.

    Beautiful surroundings

This is a beautiful location. Lots of long term campers. Beautiful trees and the fishing lakes had lovely benches. We were just passing through and the staff made an after hours check in simple and effortless. The fact that we could book and reserve our exact spot online also made it great. Sites had a bit of space so that was nice. We would definitely return for vacation.

    Pleasant Hill is Pleasant!

I recently stayed 2 nights on site 304 which was electric only by choice and when we return we will opt for full hook up since those sites look brand new.

    Positives:

    • Lots are spacious
    • Lots of activities: WhoaZone, boating, fishing, horseback riding, near Mohican Adventures for rafting, hiking
    • Quiet and with friendly staff and seasonal campers
    • Large beautiful cabins to accommodate any type of getaways

    Less desirable items:

    • Low energy because of the amount of seasonal campers at this campground. They stay to themselves and do not get too social. The transient sites were much less occupied so socializing isn't much of an option.
    • Really large property so having a golf cart is almost a necessity

    Friendly and quiet

My wife and I visited in early May 2023, they were just starting to open things up after drying out. The camp hosts were super friendly about helping get us arranged and everything we needed. Many long-term residents here and they seemed friendly and kept the place looking nice. Many of the sites are grassy and I could see the potential to get stuck if you ended up in heavy rains. Mobile service was decent in most parts of the park although our spot F30 was on the fringe for usable video.

    Quiet Wilderness Getaway

Dillon Lake State Park is located about 10 miles west of Zanesville, OH in a heavily forested area. There is no road noise from the local route 146 used to access the campground. There is reasonable space between the sites to allow for some privacy and to allow you to spread out. Area C is the most secluded area. All RV sites have 50A/30A electric. Limited sites have full hook-up. There is a dump station near the entrance. There is also a small camp store at the entrance. Overall, a nice place to spend a weekend.

    Outstanding!

We have been camping at Whispering Hills Jellystone for 15 years on holiday weekends. They have so many activities for kids and families. They have crafts, swimming, a lake for fishing, newly chip and sealed roads, jump pads x2, hiking trails, a creek to explore and play in, an outdoor theater, and so so much more. This place will keep you busy if that’s what you’re looking for. It’s also very relaxing if you want it to be. The best of both worlds. Very clean and well maintained sites and bathhouses! Laundry facility available as well. They also have the best fireworks displays on holiday weekends in the area! They have sites that fit everyone’s needs, full hook up sites close to the pool, electric back in sites (where we normally camp) also close to the pool, we like the electric sites better than the full hookup sites but if you like having a concrete pad then full hookup sites are for you! They also have more secluded electric back in sites on the other side of the park away from the hustle and bustle of the campground. They also offer primitive camp sites as well as a variety of cabin choices. This place only grows and gets better with every passing year. I highly recommend giving Whispering Hills Jellystone a shot.

    Wolfie's Campground

    Clean and very well maintained

A clean park with about 45 sites total. Some are long term while others for shorter stays. They also have cabins and tent sites.

Nice pool, 1/2 court basketball court, playground, laundry and store.

They only challenge is you don’t want to meet a rig going out while you’re coming in. We are a 38 foot class A and met a 36’ 5th wheel on the curve at the entrance. We literally passed with less than an inch between us and I am pretty sure the 5th wheel went partially of the road.

But nice campground; quiet and clean.

    Favorite Park in Ohio

We love this park! Lots of hiking! Even saw a bald eagle this trip.

Another Thanksgiving spent in our camper and it was so nice and relaxing. There were more campers than a expected this weekend. I guess everyone likes to social distance in there campers too.

Camping in the off season is our favorite time of year. This particular park has potable water on by the dump station and the dump station is open. The water at the full hook up sites are turned off.

No cell service with Verizon at this park.

    Not full hook up

We only had a brief stay but it was a very nice park. The only downfall I saw is that it is not full hook up in most spots. It looked like there was a lot to do and it was a nice family place. Everyone was out and about.

    Lots to do!

Private campground with lots to do. Full hook-ups, indoor pool, volleyball sand area, lake for catch and release, good wifi, kayaking/tubing opportunities in the Mohican River that runs through the area. The price includes 2 campers per site and anyone extra is $10 a night. We’be never encountered that and seems excessive. Amish Country is miles away.

    Perfect Weekend Getaway

Camped a long weekend for the fall festival. Campground was nice, quiet and people were friendly. Spots are roomy, with nice yard/fire space. Not all spots are full hook up, but some are. Shower houses are nice and clean. Had a lot of activities for the kids. Over all it was nice place, I would camp here again.

The right side of the fork

Dog park!! and right on the lake!! Found this by mistake on our way out, and the dogs loved it. Access to lake, a beach, well fenced. I would give Salt Fork SP extra stars for this one, especially if there were campsites co-located.

Camp ground is easily accessible being just 6 miles from I70, leaving the convenience of Cambridge and city amenities close by while allowing for great trails and solitude. Stayed in campground A, and the front end has little shade, but being here in autumn was perfect for lots of sunshine on site. Sites with trees for tree tents is minimal. Drinking fountains are dispersed fairly frequently throughout campground, but RV hookups with water were limited during my stay. Shower houses and comfort houses all have flushers and sinks.

TICK WARNING!!!! After a morning hike down wooded Trail, we spent A LONG TIME pulling ticks from dogs...even though the temps were in the 30's overnight and everyone was treated with flea & tick protection.

    Awesome campground!

We stayed the weekend of September 17-19, 2021 and camped in the H area.  The sites in this area were all level concrete with full hook-up.  There was a large building with restrooms, showers, and laundry.  We were able to enjoy a local band perform on the camp site.  Plenty of hiking/walking/biking and Atwood Lake for Kayaking and boating.  The site had enough room to park a second vehicle if needed.  We truly enjoyed the stay and would return.  Sites fill-up fast at Atwood Lake.  Plus the historic Zoar Village, was near-by to visit.

    New Bridge

This is our 4th trip to this park and it’s one of our favorites. Lots of hiking with large pine trees , cliffs and the river.

New this trip is the addition of WiFi and a new suspension bridge.

We also visited the fire tower this trip and drove over to a local market and the Ugly Bunny Winery.

Our campsite was off 2 inches side to side but level front to back. The sites are all 50 amp and they do have several full hook up sites but this time of your they have the water shut off at the sites. They do have potable water available at the dump station and the water is of for the black tank flush at the dump.

The camp store is still open but with limited supplies and the rangers do still patrol that park in the off season.

There are a lot of great full hook up sites here. Great for families and couples alike. It is a state park so if you are looking for a full blown activities schedule that is not going to happen. Winter Time But No Snow

We stayed on a full hook up site (turned off for the season) that had a nice concrete level pad. There was also a nice side pad that kept our chairs clean. A little further back in the campground to be close to the shower house that was open. Then found out that comfort station next to us was open - nice! Also close the water which was full and rushing all weekend.

The camp store was open on the weekend and the staff was nice to chat with. They had wood, but it was slab cut which doesn’t burn very well. We decided against it. Lots of snacks and other items still available.

Some sites were really close to the water, almost too close as the water flooded a few spots. The campground is nice to walk if you like to get in a little workout. They also have small camper cabins and them much bigger cabins which a few are pet friendly.

We went on a hike by the covered bridge to one of the waterfalls. Lots of trials to choose from.

    Small and grand....

Site 32 is a big site in a small campground. We've been in this site before and like it because we can have out kitchen set up by the camper, the fire ring is below and out of the way and we have a lot of space to walk our dogs or hang hammocks. There is plenty of space for tents.

The pads are almost 90 degrees to the main road which can make it tough backing in a big camper. The full hookup sites are much smaller and closer together. The electric sites (where we stayed) are bigger and a little more spread out. There is a terrific shower house where the flush toilets are separate from the shower rooms. There are drop toilets at the end of the electric loop. There are also two cabins available for rent.

The tall trees provide good shade, hammock hanging and entertainment with birds and squirrels. There is a very short hiking trail that will take you from the electric side to the full hook-up side. They just added new trellis's on either end and animal boards along the walk. The camp store is nice and has a lot to offer. There's a large playground and a couple of different shelters. You can throw horse shoes, play cornhole, partake in disc golf, kayak or go for a nice hike at this park.

We chose to go hiking and saw a little bit of color on the trees and a lot of mushrooms! We like the campground because it's small, kept clean and offers a variety of thinks to do.

    Fall is here!

Site 29 - this was a nice site in tall pine trees and colors all around. The pad was gravel and pretty level. We had trees in our site that could be used for hammocks as well. We were able to set up our ez-up and still have room to walk our dogs. It wasn’t the biggest site, but definitely not the smallest. We had electric for our camper. We had a good storm one night that caused a small pool of water out front and around the fire ring, but both areas drained very well the next day. There are vault toilets at the end of the road and a very nice shower house as you drive in that were clean all weekend. The park had a couple of playgrounds for kids, disc golf course and lots of hiking trails. The camp store is now open with limited hours. Wood is available but it’s all slab cut. There are also permanent cornhole boards. There are full hook up sites as well but are right next to one another and not a lot of trees. You can drive down to the lake and kayak and fish. It’s a very small campground with a very big park.

    Needs some TLC

This campground used to be amazing. Now it is only so so. Roads are in desperate need of a load of gravel at the least, replaced at the most. Sites are vet close, like we felt bad hooking into all of our full hook up because the sewer hose was right in the middle of the next campsite. The girl at check in was very helpful. But note everything shuts down at 6. Store, pool, laundry room…everything. The lake is ok at best. Back in the day you could swim in it, now it is full of growth and the docks are falling apart. It is like the owners do not care if they update or not. Four showers in the shower house and 2 didn’t have curtains. Walmart is literally 5 min down the road. Buy some curtains. Would more than likely not come back to this one

Big Site - Great for Camper & Tents

Our 3rd time to this park with a new site. We really enjoy this smaller campground with the tall trees. It has pit toilets at the end of the electric and a great showerhouse set between the electric and full hook up. Our site was really big and shaded. We have dogs so this site gave us a little more room in between our neighbor. We had trees we used to set up a small dog run and plenty more if you like to hammock. We have a small camper, but there was plenty of space for tents as well on this site. There is a slight downhill grade, but definitely not a turn off. Not all the sites have shade and not all are level. Some do gather water if you get a lot of rain. The pads are at a 90 degree angle to the road, so it can be a little more of a challenge to back in a big camper. The camp store is open on the weekends and are getting back up and running. There are a couple of playgrounds for kids, volleyball, cornhole, shelterhouses, disc golf and trails. There is a small lake as well that you can kayak, but will have to drive down the road to get to it. We found a ton of wildflowers on our hike (see our pictures). There is very small trail that connects one end of the campground to the other and then there is a bigger trail down by the lake.
