TravelerWe are loving this place. Everyone has been super friendly. We did check our personal weapons at the armory upon arrival, and the process did take about an hour, but it was painless. Check-in was very quick. Our camp site (37) is nice. we have some trees at the site that do help with this sweltering heat.. Our site is pull through with full hookups. All work well. Easy access. The dog park is nice. There are several on the grounds. Also, walking trails. I would caution about the Cacti with your animals. Watch those paws. Nellis has a great location. I mean if the daily, all day fly overs are not amazing enough, the beautiful views of the Vegas skyline nearby is also wonderful. You are close enough to everything Vegas if you want to partake, but yet if you dont want to , you can ignore it all together. Commissary and base exchange are nice. The base seems to have all you need. Many restraints and box stores right down Craig Road less than a 10 minute drive. Highly recommend! For 30 bucks a night for premium spot. Can't beat it.
LegendStarted staying here when KOA decided to only cater to peeps with a lot of $. Overall a very nice place with choices of very tight spots to very spacious sites depending on what you want to pay. Pool was being rebuilt when I was there so tough to give a 5 star in the desert w/o a pool.
LegendRough road in but larger rigs can make it without getting stuck if carful. Only issue is with the water so low the level stuff is way back.
GuidePerfect place to get into the water to cool off on a hot summer day. Tranquil, expansive and unique. Until that one group who shows up... with the jetboat, the generator, and the spotlight. So, maybe avoid weekends, holidays and other days that might encourage people to gather together... if you want to enjoy the water, quiet, and the stars. Definitely worth it if you want to cool off... much nicer than the other side.
RangerThis place for sure needs a high clearance vehicle. We came in at night and was hard to tell what were spots and which ones were occupied. Road is very rough so ended up staying near the beginning of this road. No amenities here.
ScoutStayed here for a few days before heading to Zion. Great location with all the hook-up’s. We stayed near the laundry and shower/bathroom station and initially concerned about foot traffic but had very little. The place is kept clean and the pool was great, especially to cool down to beat the Las Vegas heat. I would definitely recommend.
GuideBeautiful spot with a great view of the lake (we arrived at sunset) and we were greeted by a very friendly but shy donkey! The access road was 3 miles long on very rough gravel with a lot of sharp rocks so it took us about 30 mins in our car to get there. We have hammocks that can be used as one person tents, and obviously there are no trees here. The ground is a little uncomfortable as it slopes down towards the water. Otherwise it’s a great spot and wish we could have stayed longer! PS it is VERY hot at night!
GuideJust make sure the locks on your rig are working and don’t leave anything out that you want to hang onto. Price is reasonable for Vegas and the proximity to Fremont is nice but it is definitely sketchy. Check in is at the Main Street Hotel and the staff and security are all super friendly and helpful but downtown Vegas is downtown Vegas so just be aware.
