Knob Noster State Park Campground allows pets at all campsites with well-maintained trails for dog walking and spacious, shaded areas for tent and RV camping. Electric hookups are available at designated sites, while primitive camping options provide more seclusion. The campground features recently renovated bathhouses, picnic tables, and fire rings at each site. Dogs must be kept on leashes no longer than 10 feet throughout the park, including on hiking trails and near the lake areas. Several campsites offer level concrete pads suitable for RVs, with the handicapped sites fully paved for easier access. Raccoons are prevalent in the park, especially at night, requiring campers to secure food and trash properly to protect pets and prevent wildlife encounters.

Several miles of hiking trails throughout the park provide excellent exercise opportunities for dogs and their owners, with the trail system divided into three separate networks that don't connect. The nearby lakes offer additional recreation, with kayak rentals available at Lake Buteo for those wanting water activities. Weekends typically see the campground fill to capacity while weekdays remain quieter and less crowded. Most sites have good shade coverage from mature trees, making summer camping more comfortable for pets. The park's proximity to Whiteman Air Force Base occasionally results in aircraft noise, including B-2 Spirit bombers flying overhead. Overnight temperatures can drop significantly even in summer months, so pet owners should bring appropriate bedding for dogs sleeping outdoors.

Great Escape RV Park & Campground

      Nice for overnight

Just stopped for one night on our way east. Friendly host checked us in. Nice dog park with bench and shade. All sites are FHU. They offered to move us to a pull thru, but I picked our site based on proximity to the dog park, so I declined the move. We were in site 38, back-in 30 amp. Sites are a bit tight but no one next door so ok. I recommend for a stopover. Less fancy but nicer for dogs imo than Owl Creek which is one exit away. There is a pond for fishing (no license required) and a swimming pool.

      Kansas City East-Oak Grove KOA

      Great overnight

Easy access to Interstate and pull through sites were long enough for our truck and 32’ trailer without having to unhitch. Stayed just one night as we passed through. Looked like it would be a good place to stay for multiple nights.

Clean campground. Nice grounds. Two good fenced dog parks.

Only negatives were our hookups were literally in the next site next to their table, and their fire ring was very close to our trailer.

      Kansas City East-Oak Grove KOA

      Ok for a stopover

Stayed one night at the KOA in Oak Grove, just east of Kansas City. The sites were all sunny and since it was 100 degrees, it was hot. But the pool was nice and they had a nice dog park which was ok in the evening after it cooled off. Close to KC so we could drive in for BBQ.

Owl Creek Market and RV Park

      Great Spot

This campground has immaculate ground. All sites are pretty much gravel, but 'new' gravel & level. Pool very clean. Laundry 24/7 CLEAN!! SHOWERS EVEN CLEANER!! They have a Dutch Mkt here as well in front at ck-in that's awesome!! Everything you could imagine. 100 different cheeses even! I'd stay here again for sure. Dog Park; Trash P/U too!

Owl Creek Market and RV Park

      Nice for overnight

Stayed one night while traveling back to the east coast. It is a decent campground. The bath house was clean and showers were hot. Sites are close together. Mine had shade. There is a small dog park at the top of the hill.

I came late and left early, so didn't get to browse the cheese shop, but it looked nice. I would stay here again.

The Great Escape RV and Camp Resort

      Ok, not great

Stopped here for an overnight on our way home to Georgia from Yellowstone. It’s ok for a 1-night stop. I wouldn’t stay more. The sites are level, with long pull-throughs, with full hookups. But there is no shade. Also no store. There is a grill/bar that serves dinner, drinks and appetizers. Pool, playground, dog park, stocked fishing pond, laundry. Bathroom/shower facilities were ok. Several text sites did have shade.

Owl Creek Market and RV Park

      Nice campground

Nice campground, we stayed in spot 11. It was closest to the highway, so that might bother people but we barely noticed the cars this weekend. The dog park, kid park, and dumpster are next door, so if you are social you will meet plenty of people in this spot. There is a pool, bathrooms, laundry, and a cute little country store here. It appears they are expanding or at least have recently added camping spots, so that's good, but there are plenty We arrived late at night, 9 pm on a Friday, and there was still room for us without a reservation. There was plenty of room to back in the rig, they also have pull through spots if needed. I'd camp here again for sure.

      Turkey Creek RV Park

      Nice Campground! Nice and Quiet!

Turkey Creek was a very nice campground for our month long stay.  The park is well maintained and clean.  It is very quiet!  There is a train track nearby, but we only heard it a few times during our stay.

Amenities included full hook up, laundry room, bathrooms, showers and a fenced dog park where you 4 legged friends can enjoy some off-leash time.  We had 4 bars with AT&T and waffled between 1-3 bars with Verizon.

The location is great for visiting local attractions such as Branson Landing, Silver Dollar City and Top of the Rock.

Really appreciate the park manager, she was friendly and brought an overpayment to our attention and quickly issued a refund.

      Great experience overall!

Montrose Missouri Conservation Area Dispersed Camping

      Decent spot

It was quiet. We enjoyed our stay. I read about the black cat that was found there in the other review. It was still there when we camped in late December and quite hungry. Very friendly and needing love. We brought him home with us and he is the most amazing cat. Took a while to get litter trained but I’m glad we opened up our home to him before the bad weather got here. Thanks to this site, we found our new family member! Thanks to whoever posted.

    Guide to Warrensburg

Knob Noster State Park Campground accommodates pets at all camping sites with spacious, shaded grounds and level gravel pads. The park offers electric hookups for RV campers with pets and allows tent camping, cabin rentals, and glamping options for visitors traveling with dogs. Leashed pets must be supervised at all times while enjoying the campground's amenities, which include picnic tables, fire rings, and access to recently renovated shower facilities. Several hiking trails throughout the park welcome dogs on leashes, providing exercise opportunities for pets and owners alike. Located just minutes from Whiteman Air Force Base, the campground requires proper pet waste disposal and provides trash receptacles throughout the grounds. Raccoons are abundant in the area, so securing pet food in vehicles overnight is essential to prevent wildlife encounters.

The park's trail system includes multiple pet-friendly hiking paths circling two small lakes where dogs can cool off at designated access points. Lake Buteo offers kayak rentals for campers who wish to explore the water while their pets remain at camp. Green Acres at Red Brick Farmhouse and Lake Paradise Resort also welcome pets with designated cabin accommodations for travelers with dogs. The campground area remains quiet despite occasional aircraft sounds from the nearby air base, creating a peaceful environment for noise-sensitive pets. Weekend campers should reserve sites in advance as the pet-friendly electric sites fill quickly, especially during summer months. Primitive tent sites typically remain available for last-minute visitors with pets even during peak season. The bathhouses are well-maintained and clean, an important consideration for longer stays with animals.
