Knob Noster State Park Campground allows pets at all campsites with well-maintained trails for dog walking and spacious, shaded areas for tent and RV camping. Electric hookups are available at designated sites, while primitive camping options provide more seclusion. The campground features recently renovated bathhouses, picnic tables, and fire rings at each site. Dogs must be kept on leashes no longer than 10 feet throughout the park, including on hiking trails and near the lake areas. Several campsites offer level concrete pads suitable for RVs, with the handicapped sites fully paved for easier access. Raccoons are prevalent in the park, especially at night, requiring campers to secure food and trash properly to protect pets and prevent wildlife encounters.
Several miles of hiking trails throughout the park provide excellent exercise opportunities for dogs and their owners, with the trail system divided into three separate networks that don't connect. The nearby lakes offer additional recreation, with kayak rentals available at Lake Buteo for those wanting water activities. Weekends typically see the campground fill to capacity while weekdays remain quieter and less crowded. Most sites have good shade coverage from mature trees, making summer camping more comfortable for pets. The park's proximity to Whiteman Air Force Base occasionally results in aircraft noise, including B-2 Spirit bombers flying overhead. Overnight temperatures can drop significantly even in summer months, so pet owners should bring appropriate bedding for dogs sleeping outdoors.
