    RV Community not a resort

This is the only RV park in the Frederick area not at a state park. It's part mobile home part RV. It's not a vacation RV resort in any sense, it's definitely got more long term stays. Everyone had their own private lots which are nice but it is very tightly packed in. Every site has full hookups, cable, and trash service which is great. You are in Frederick so you are close to basically everything. You can walk to Aldi, Panera, amazing local restaurants. You're near Walmart, Target, Sheetz and Wawa. The location cannot be beaten for Frederick. Making reservations was a little nerve-wracking since it's was just said that there was a site available and to call a half-hour before arriving. We arrived with no issues though. It's a little rednecky but everyone is super nice and offers to help.

Not the best RV park, not the worst.

All sites are 50amp too so if you have a 30amp rig, you'll need a converter.

Large park, great lake, marginal RV sites

My wife and I stayed for two nights at this campground and enjoyed it greatly.  We happened to be assigned what I believe was the best of the RV sites, a pull through that had full hook up.  We have a 32 foot trailer.  The site we were assigned was easily accessed and had a nice view of the campground.  However, as we drove through the rest of the RV park area we noted that many of the sites had very awkward back-in approaches that did not provide sufficient area to maneuver a large rig into them.  The lake is gorgeous and has a large, sandy beach.  Would love to spend more time there to explore the park further.  There are numerous tent sites, some with electric, that appear to be large and fairly level.

    Great Site, Great Staff

Took our new Fifth Wheel for a shakedown trip and decided to try Twin Bridges Campground. Staff was polite, amenities are great and clean, and everyone was friendly and polite. Big spacious sites, and a honeywagon to make things easier (there weren't any full hookup sites the I saw besides the long term spaces). Would definatley stay here again.

    Not what you expect

Our stay was great. Our site was gravel, clean and pretty flat and level. Now, this place has the amenities of a resort, but the feeling of a campground. With that being said, it does cater to many seasonal, long term sites where the campers do not ever move their RV. All of the people were super friendly, both the staff and the long-term campers. We were here during the week and it was super quite. I can see the weekend being a bit louder, but that is every campground. You are about a mile hike from the Western Maryland Rail Trail.or short 5min or sondrive to the C&O Canal Towpath. Both are very pleasant ways to spend your time if you're not using the amenities at the campground (pool, volleyball, basketball, mini-golf). There is a store that is pretty fairly priced for many items and a food service area that is only open on weekends (seems to not be busy during the week). The only negative would be that because most of the campers are seasonal/long-term, they all have golf carts or 4-wheelers that they ride around on and that can get old quick. I would say that it is well worth the cost and if you needed a place to stay, worth giving them a shot.

    Drummer Boy Camping Resort

    Busy, run-down campground

This park is a huge Thousand Trails owned resort with lots of campsites and tons of amenities. In fact, the park is so large (over 95 acres) that if you are camping with friends make sure you get sites nearby them or else you will need to drive to their site. This is a typical corporate-owned campground where they don’t seem to put a lot of money back into the campground and facilities tend to be rundown. We stayed here because we wanted to visit Gettysburg National Military Park which is about ten minutes away and definitely worth visiting.

There are lots of seasonals in the campground with “stuff” spread out everywhere around their campsites. We were in a transient section in the back of the park with long pull-thrus (about 100-feet long) that comfortably fit our RV and car. Trees lined the sides of our site which was nice for privacy and shade but the site was really narrow which didn’t leave much room for a patio to sit outside with our friends. The biggest complaint about our site was that the sewer hookup was inconveniently placed about six inches above the ground which meant that it would not drain properly (even with a slinky placed under it). There is Wi-Fi throughout the campground but you have to pay for it so we opted just to use our mobile data and Hotspot on our Verizon phone (which worked well and was 5G). Roads through the park are fairly narrow with potholes. Some roads are one-way but people don’t pay much attention to that and went whichever way they wanted, especially those in golf carts. The roads and sites are gravel and very dusty when we were there as there were lots of golf cars whipping around and trucks exceeding the 5-mph speed limit.

If you want activities and things to do in the campground, this is your place. There is a swimming pool, ball courts, fishing pond, mini golf (which was in pretty sad shape), and more. They have themed weekend events, live music, bingo, golf cart parades, and potluck. We felt the nightly price of$80 for a full hook-up site was pretty steep. We don’t use the amenities or participate in any activities so we were paying for stuff we didn’t use but if you did it may be worth it. Next time we are in the area, we will stay somewhere else.

Hodgepodge mix of tent sites and long term motor homes on a creek which is nice . Owner is strange and will yell at clients blaming them of chopping down trees when they haven’t or other false claims.

    Hidden Gem!

What a hidden gem Camp Capapon, is. This is exactly my idea of camping. Beautiful place, tucked in the woods, right next to the river. The RV campsite is spacious, private, shaded, and with full hook-ups. The RV spot is perfect, so leveled all you have to do is shock your wheels. We brought our kayaks and got them on the river for some time. The scenery will take your breath away. I just fell in love with the place and will be back. Mr. Sullivan was very accommodating, helpful and responsive. Pet friendly, Wifi is provided, and the facilities are in pristine conditions. What else could you ask for???? I'm having mixed feelings about reviewing the place, because I want it all to myself, lol, no but seriously, do yourself a favor and take a trip here, you will not regret it.

Tight spots, but great location near Gettysburg!

The best thing about this Thousand Trails campground is it’s proximity to Gettysburg and all attractions! The Campground is old and a bit rundown. Sites are small and tight and some are at strange angles. They do have FHU and 30/50 amp. There are many amenities and a large swimming pool which is great for families. The staff is friendly and welcoming. We would stay here again if visiting the area.

    Decent stay

Sites look to be semi private in alot of pictures but that isnt the case. We had a full hook up with our 15ft travel trailer. Pretty tight even with my Tacoma. Playground was nice.

Site did not have a fire ring/ cooking grate. Just a pile of rocks. This is a bare minimum IMO but the office said you need a premium site for that lol.

Had a great time with the family in Gettysburg. Definitely going back just not sure if we will be staying at the KOA or not…

    Very convenient to National Park

This place is right outside the gate of Harpers Ferry NP. We walked to the shuttle bus stop. It is a very large KOA, and was almost empty when we visited in September. The original site the gave us had a large rut and washed out spot, so we could not get level. I checked in the office and the reassigned another space that was much better. Full hook ups, nice clean shower and bathrooms, playground, pool, large dog park.

A great spot for water lovers

The William Houck Campground offers plenty of on-site resources and spots for weekend visitors or for long-term campers. More than 100 spots available, this place is as popular as ever in the summer, as it is located a short walk from the Cunningham Falls and Lake. Loads of great trails nearby, along with the water and the flowing rapids make for an amazing stay. Weekends can be pretty hectic with crowds, so keep that in mind while planning your stay.

    Gettysburg Campground

Family campground that's great for base camp.

Stayed here in October while family stayed in hotels. This is a family campground and is mostly occupied by RV's who stay long term. Tent sites are spacious and fits 2 cars, sites fit 2-3 tents. The tent sites have numerous walnut trees, so there's a bit of a hazard there when walking around trying to dodge the falling nuts (cars are targets too!). The campground is pretty close to downtown Gettysburg if you're looking for restaurants/shops. It's in the heart of the battlefield access points and trails. The campground usually puts on various activities, parties, etc, mainly kid oriented. This is a nice site/area for base camping in the fall.

Greenbrier State Park Campground - TEMPORARILY CLOSED

Family & dog friendly - great time

Greenbrier is working on a long term dam project so the water level at the lake is down 4 ft. For boating, kayaking, etc, it is no mater. For swimming though, it means no swimming, just wading. But it is just so relaxing and peaceful, it didn't matter at all.

Quite park. Some spots are fairly private but these sites are not far from each other. We found a great spot and had some privacy. Showers & bathroom facilities were as clean as you would expect for camping.

These sites are big enough for a bigger tent, a pavilion and maybe a pup tent. Not real big. But adequate.

We hiked around the lake, spent time at the beach, and simply enjoyed ourself!!

    Camping Gem Near the Battlefields

We had a great stay at Gettysburg/ Battlefield KOA Holiday in Gettysburg, PA.

We stayed in a level pull-thru site(#14) with deluxe picnic table, swinging Adirondack glider, and fire pit. The site was big enough for our motor home and Jeep. Full hook-ups with 50-amp service.

Lots of mature shade trees made the site more comfortable given the July heat. The paver patio with seating and natural landscaping with well-placed boulders made it quite comfortable.

Wow, what a great place to stay when visiting the town of Gettysburg and nearby battlefields.

From the escort to our site and friendly interactions with the staff, we immediately felt at home. The site was covered with clean gravel(which I like to keep sand and dirt outside), the camp store was well-stocked, the pool was inviting, the utilities all worked great, daily trash collection was convenient, immaculate landscaping, and a 2:00 PM check-out make this place a gem when visiting the Gettysburg area.

Just 15-minutes to historic sites, restaurants, and breweries.

    Everything seemed clean and well-maintained.

Bottom Line: This is a great campground in a great location and we can’t wait to go back!

    THINGS I ESPECIALLY LIKED:

    1. Beautifully landscaped site

    2. Well maintained and clean campground

    3. Close to town of Gettysburg and battlefields

    Nice relaxing camping experience

This is a very nice converted single family residence turned into a tent and cabin camping area with one RV spot. The RV spot overlooks the camping area and has full hookups. Campground is located on 8 acres with excellent upkeep and grounds maintenance. The site is obviously a labor of love for the owner. It has nice water access to a creek that is wide and inviting. Mixes tall trees with well manicured grass areas. Check out the abundant chainsaw art. It’s a bit out of the way, but road access is good for all but large rigs. All in all, we had a very laid back enjoyable stay. Would recommend to a camper looking for something different.

    Quiet and pretty

It is a monday so I imagine this place would be much busier on the weekend but it's nice and quiet. Sites are very close together with a couple trees in between, overall lots of trees. There was only one other active camper in our section maybe 3 or 4 sites down so it was a very peaceful stay and felt like we mostly had the section to ourselves. Our site P1 is a full hook up pull through but it's really unlevel. We ran out of blocks trying to level on this site and were still off a bit. If we were staying more than a night we may have asked for a different site. Sites and roads are gravel, nice newer fire pit and picnic table at each. There is a pool, basketball hoops, and a fully stocked camp store with campground merch, blankets, snacks, toiletries, a lot of rv parts, refrigerated food necessities, pantry items, alcohol, cigarettes, games, fishing gear....really a lot of stuff! Really cute duck/goose pond you can even fish in (catch and release) and a nice gazebo to relax in. Really a nice campground with great hosts. Only complaint is the closeness of other sites, luckily no one else was around.

    Gettysburg Campground

    Very close to Gettysburg

If you’re looking for a backwoods, off-the-beaten-path type of campground, this isn’t it. If you are looking for a campground that is very close to an historical National Park not to mention shopping and restaurants, this is for you.

The amenities of Gettysburg Campground are quite good: full hookups with cable, all working as expected. Level sites, friendly and efficient staff, decently sized sites long enough for my 32’ coach and a toad. The two drawbacks are that the sites are quite packed together and the noise of traffic– at least in the frontmost sites– can get rather loud at night. However, the proximity to Gettysburg National Park can’t be beat.

    Perfect Serene Riverfront Stay!!

We loved our stay at Sullivan’s. We stayed for a full week at their RV site with our 32ft camper trailer. Coming mid-week we enjoyed most of the campground to ourselves. A great place to unwind & enjoy nature. Host was great and made sure to send all the details, checked in with us mid week to see how things were going and ensures we enjoyed our stay after we left. 5 star service!

(Be sure to download checkin instructions prior to arrival as there is wifi, but no cell service … bonus for relaxation!)

    Artillery Ridge Campground

    Great Location to Battlefield

This park is a perfect location if you want to explore Gettysburg National Historical Site as you can literally walk across the street and be in the park or venture½ mile up the road and you come to the park’s main visitor center. The campground has a bunch of different sites whether you want to spend more money for a premium full hook-up or save a few bucks and just get water and electric. There are lots of tent sites, cabins, and horse stalls with a corral for those traveling with horses. The park is also very close to the historic downtown so you don’t have to drive too far for the attractions.

We were able to do contactless check-in by making the reservation and paying over the phone. When we arrived, they had a packet out on a picnic table for us with directions to our site and information about the park and the surrounding area. But, the best part of the check-in was that we got a free bundle of wood and the cutest little s’mores packet which had just enough fixings for the two of us. Such a great touch that we really appreciated. We had a gravel pull thru site which was easy to navigate in and out of with our tow car attached and was plenty long enough. The roads are gravel but were not dusty. The site and patio were gravel and a mix of grass. The campground was very clean and well-cared for.

Some of the sites are in the open without much shade but some other areas have some nice shade.  Most of the tent section is pretty open with a few trees scattered about.  Some of the sites (i.e., 82) is very close to the playground and the fishing pond which get quite a bit of action so be aware of the nearby amenities when you choose a site.

This park is well-suited for people traveling with horses. There are multiple pens and a fenced riding arena and ample RV sites and cabins in the near the horse stalls and there is a hose wash rack.

Some of the things we liked about this park:

    • There is a big section of the park dedicated to horses as the National Riding Stables are located on the grounds. You can get guided tours of the battlefield on their rescue horses.

    • A 24/7 firewood dispensing machine– which we had never seen before• Catch and release fishing pond• Free putt putt golf.

    • Heated swimming pool

    • Clean, well-kept campground• Lots of activities for kids with playgrounds, volleyball basketball, game room, camp store, movies, pool, etc.

We paid $44/night for our full hook-up site (#45) which we didn’t think was too expensive or unreasonable. Luckily for us, nobody was next to us during our stay (in May) as the neighboring sites were pretty close and this campground probably feels very tight when it’s full. The close proximity to Gettysburg NHS was the biggest plus of this park for us.

    Lots of regulars

So this is my second time at Happy Hills Campground in Hancock, MD from June 25th-28th. It being relatively close to the home is the reason for choosing it because of doctor appts for the kids.

The site I was in (F1) was really small and very close to the neighboring site. We got lucky no one was camping next to us. It had full hook-ups (30amp/water/sewer) and a pull thru site with picnic table and fire ring. It was $40/night. This campground is mainly for monthly site rentals with more than 3/4 of them permanent sites.

Lots of golf cart and ATV traffic with no quiet hours that I am aware of. We weren't informed the pool would be open and you had to sign up for two hour timeslots to get in. This must have been information only available to the regulars here. Also cell service (Sprint roaming most of the time) is terrible and the campground wifi is spotty at best. The camp store was closed due to COVID so if needed anything you had to go to town.

Bathrooms were clean. Never checked out the showers but heard they were free.

    Overall, I wasn't a happy camper. I don't think I will be back.

More "glamping" than camping, but great for families!

This campground is huge, and very crowded. We were there in the days leading up to 4th of July, and there was not a single empty site. Our section had mostly pop-ups and mid-size travel trailers, so the sites were all grass and gravel. However, the area with pull-through sites for big rigs was just a huge RV parking lot. All roads were very narrow and winding. We did fine with the pup, but can’t imagine trying to navigate a large motorhome through there. Crowding/space issues aside, this is a really nice (albeit expensive) campground. Almost everything, from the grounds, to rec halls, to pool and laundry, was sparkling clean and beautifully maintained. Bathrooms were reasonably clean as well, although they could certainly use some TLC and updating (most MD state park bathhouses are nicer).Staff was very friendly, as well. Tons of stuff to do here, especially for families: arts & crafts, indoor movie theatre, games, civil war reenactments, wine tastings, etc. We were certainly never bored, and the kids thought they had died and gone to heaven. Our site was extremely close to our neighbor's site, but still surprisingly roomy and decently shaded. We were right next to the pancake hut (free daily pancake breakfast included during the on-season) and playground, and very close to other activities. Harpers Ferry National Historical Park is just a stone's throw away, with great hiking, sight-seeing, and cute little shops.

Overall, this is a really nice place, but much more of a resort than a campground in my opinion. The kids loved it, but I’ll always prefer the wooded seclusion of a state or national park. However, if I was looking for a more action-packed, activities-filled “glamping” experience, I wouldn’t hesitate to return.

    Beautiful and everyone is welcome

I’ve been camping at this RV park since I was a young child, and have watched it develop and become larger over the years but it certainly has not lost its amazing charm. There’s something for everyone, and where everyone is respected and appreciated by the local family ownership. If you haven’t been before, you should definitely check it out for an overnight or a longer stay if possible.

    Just a place to park

I’m local to Frederick MD, and this is a mobile home neighborhood, apparently with some new spots available for travelers — not an RV park. The location is awesome if you just need somewhere to park for a few nights while you go do stuff all day in the Frederick area. But its a tiny area wedged between the back of Lowes and a very busy road, so dont expect anything relaxing, or scenic, or anything for kids to do on the “park” grounds.
