    Nice campground

This was the first time I’ve stayed in a campground that was split with Thousand Trails. The sites for KOA had mature trees and were of decent size. We reserved a back-in full hook up site and stayed for two days. Our site was level but not all sites were level as I watched my neighbor pull in. The campground had a very nice pool which was very clean and they have a private swimming beach which was also very clean and well maintained. The Thousand trails property was easily 6-7 times larger than the KOA portion of the park. All amenities are shared and it appears that at least one bathroom was being updated. The others look to need some repair and are dated but clean. Campground was very quiet at night with no rowdy or loud campers during our stay. I would stay again.

    August 2018: Meh

Please know this is mostly a mobile home park and long term rvs. It’s kept up decent but some shoddy add ons and sheds throughout. there are I’ve 900 sites and more than 95% are permanent. It’s between a very busy freeway and very busy railroad track. Cute little lake with lots of activities for kids and themed weekends. I was abke to run 3 miles aroind the park. Full hook ups are only up to 30 amps. Close to Chicago. We will not be returning due to noise but other than that, it’s ‘meh’.

    RV City

i have been to Thousand Trails in Indiana for 25 years and each time i visit i get more disappointed. its no longer a campground but an RV park. which makes me sad because tent camping is forced onto gravel or next to a septic tank hose from a neighboring RV.

however, the park is very large, has many activities such as swimming, fishing, arcades, cornhole, volleyball. you will need a vehicle to travel to activities because thry are far away. there is a general store that now serves breakfast so that is pretty nifty. it seems they are making improvements regarding grounds but i would not recommend tent camping. they do have cabins surrounding the lake.

Large property with lots of green space

Indian Lakes Campground is 10 minutes east of downtown Batesville, an hour to the east of Indianapolis and an hour to the west of Cincinnati. With over 1000 sites they offer a KOA section, year round leased sites, Thousand Trails sites and individual sites. We’re a married couple in our forties traveling with two dogs and a cat in our 37 foot motorhome and members of Thousand Trails. We arrived on April 3rd, the day prior to Indiana Covid-19 stay at home restrictions. The property owners were gracious enough to allow us to extend our stay beyond the normal 14 day limit for our personal safety. We were assigned a 50 amp site with water and sewer in loop 4B. This is an open loop with very few trees for shade. Immediately across from our site is a large field about the length of a football field. We can see the lake in the distance past the recreation and pool areas. During our stay we did not access the restroom, laundry, recreation or store areas as we were practicing social distancing. We plan to make many return trips to this campground in the future. Because we were the first to stay in our site since the campground closed for the winter season we had a little site maintenance/pickup to perform but nothing too out of the norm. The noise from the highway can only be heard about once a week. On weekends there’s an increase in golf-cart users and most neighbors are respectful during quiet hours.

    Swiss Haven RV Resort

Quiet Little Spot on the Ohio River

This was a great little find right on the banks of the Ohio River. Family owned operation…and just the nicest people you could ever imagine. Most of the little RV parks in this area are seasonal camper focused; and it shows. The owners here are focused on growing their business and have just completed a new building to accommodate a store and reception area, potential for limited dining, and activity center. They have also completed a new deck area that overlooks the campground and Ohio River. The park does have a large number of seasonal tenants however; they have reserved a number of great sites, even some on the river front, for nightly RVers(and have plans to expand that number). They offer both full hook-up and electric, 30-50 amp with water sites on a daily, weekly or monthly rate. The location provides easy access to both the communities of Vevay and Madison Indiana which are rich in history, unique architecture, dining, shopping and wineries. The location is just 20 minutes east of Madison on IN-56. Contact Tom Skojac at 317-902-4112 swisshavenrvresort.com 38.710849,-85.125427

    Glo Wood Campground

    Peaceful and serene

The owners are very nice and keep up the grounds well. Our spot, like all around us was very long and nice, wide space between campers. We camped with a 38 foot travel trailer and a 20 foot Ford F250, and still had room(about the size of a golf cart). Very peaceful and serene camping out on their farm land. Most our neighbors were contract workers, so staying monthly. You can see some long term RVs in the wooded area nearby. They also provide storage so you do see RVs parked around the perimeter. We didn't use the bathhouse at all, so cannot comment on it. We had 50 amp with water and sewer at every site. Gravel drive and sites, with grass in between. Each space has their own garbage can and picnic table. Everyone we met was very nice. If you want privacy and space for a good rate, this is the place. It's close to many amenities, so location was good for us too. If it bothers you to see long term campers with their plants and gardens, etc. then look else where. Long term campers don't bother us. So we would definitely stay again.

    disappointed

the good stuff peaceful ,friendly staff and campers, nice fire ring and picnic tables. the bad the online reservation can’t choose the sites or areas so I called the number that was listed for campground and was on hold at a call center somewhere . check in was nice you had to pick whether you were koa or thousand trails then go pick a spot they didn’t know what was available. that went pretty well it was hard navigating through the potholes and mud holes with being 62’ long the spot we found was 30amp with water no sewer at 50$ a night I was disappointed 25$ would have been more realistic

    Nice KOA

Shade, grass, and gravel sites. A lot better than most KOAs. They ask that you not put outdoor rugs on grass; no problem as grass is nice. Sites 1-10 are your best bet for Starlink if that’s what you have; best opening through tree canopy of the northern sky. Pet friendly; counted three cats and a dog in the office when I checked in. Was given the option of choosing my site out of the seven available for my reservation. A mix of long term residents and travelers; some of the long term resident sites were a little junky.

    Best Jellystone ever

Nice, clean, safe, and plenty to at this place!! Love the trash pick up service! This is how a RV Resort should operate. The extra cost for some of the activities are not terribly overpriced, but is overpriced. The multiple pools are excellent. Need to plan about 6 months to a 1 year ahead to get in.

Great Spot for Visiting the Dunes

I had a peaceful stay in a tent site here. I tried an RV resort park first and my site was right next to train tracks and packed in next to the other sites. This spot was more spacious and fairly quiet with good showers. A great place for a stop when visiting the dunes if the park campgrounds are full.

    Not what we expected

The electric and water hookups are not in standard locations for RV hookups. Make sure you bring an extension for your electric hookup, otherwise you might not be able to reach the post. Same for water hookup. We had a lakefront site, however it wasn’t lake view. Sites 12/13 do not have a view of the lake due to dense brush in front of it. All other lakefront sites have a view. There is not a camp store, so make sure you have all the supplies you need or you’ll have to make a trip to Salem, which is only about a 20 min drive. There’s excellent cell service, no WiFi. There are laundry facilities at the bath house.

    Great forest area

We called for reservations less than two weeks in advance, and they only had one site left. If coming from the north-west, try to arrive before dark as the road over the hills to this place is beautiful, but narrow and forested with some trees very close to the roadway. The entrance road to the campground is quite steep. We arrived after the office had closed, so they had left an envelope taped to the door with our name and a map to our site. We were in the full-hookup, back-in RV sites connected with the cabins but they are across the street so they’re not too connected if you don’t know who’s in the cabin nearest you. Most of the other rigs in this row seemed to be long-term. We were on the end opening onto trees and the gravel cul de sac. It’s beautiful.

Pads are gravel and we did need to use several leveling blocks on our site, which made for a doosey of a bottom step into and out of our trailer. This end of the park is very quiet, with dark skies at night for stargazing and lovely field and forest sounds. Even though the office had closed a couple of hours before, the owner Bruce came by after we had set up to make sure we were in ok. Thoughtful!

The “patio” pad for the picnic table is 12” concrete blocks. It was mostly level, but not near the edge near our tow vehicle. Tripped a few times; these blocks should be redone.

We needed some trailer work while we were here, so asked the owner for recommendations. The manager Ed then came by after the guy had come to be sure we were pleased with the recommendation.

Bathrooms were a short walk up the hill to the office. Pretty good, though they often needed supplies restocked.

We would definitely stay here again. We stayed in site 9.

    Elkhart County Fairgrounds

    Typical Fairgrounds Camping Experience

I have camped here a couple of times while visiting northern Indiana to have repairs done on my RV. Overall, I like this campground where for $30/night you can get a 50 amp full hook-up site or $23/night a 30 amp and water site. If you plan on staying longer weekly and monthly rates are really good. The campground sits in the middle of the county fairgrounds so there is usually something going on – either a fair, concert, horse event, or an RV rally. Depending on what time of year you are here and part of the week, the campground could be very crowded or very empty. The nice thing is the people in the office let you pick whatever site you want and don’t assign one to you. There are 275 full hook-up sites with 50 amp full hook-up and 30 amp water & electric only. There are no fires allowed and some sites don’t have picnic tables but you can request one and they will bring it to your site.

There is very little shade and during my last visit the late September fall temperatures climbed to nearly 90 degrees and was brutal. This campground is better suited for RVs than tents but you are permitted to tent camp. Bathrooms and showers are scattered about and I was amazed at always how clean they (and the grounds as a whole) are. They do offer WiFi which worked pretty well in non-peak hours like early morning but was not reliable and sometimes frustrating. Since many sites have a clear view of the sky, you most likely will get satellite television reception and a dozen or so antenna channels.

One of the things I like about this park is the vast expanse of grounds to wander about walking my dog. There is a trail system just outside of the park that allows you miles and miles of walking and biking trails. Downtown Goshen is less than two miles away and has some great restaurants (including Venturi Pizza, Maple Indian Cuisine – which has an awesome buffet, and Goshen Brewing Company). The Saturday farmers market is great with lots of produce, breads, meats, cheeses, and crafts.

The last time I visited coincided with the Mennonite Relief Fund which was a big fund raiser for their charity that packed the grounds with stuff for sale, food, and activities. It was fun to be there during the event but it meant the campground and grounds were packed.

Now for the bad about this campground. It is located right next to very busy train tracks that operate 24/7 and blow their horns quite often. They were really annoying in the middle of the night. Sites are close together so if it is crowded and you have a neighbor, you will be right on top of them. There is no shade which can be very miserable.

    Pros:

    · Price - $30/night for a 50 amp full hook-up site

    · Nearby downtown stores and restaurants

    · Sites are not assigned so you can pick where you want to camp

    · Grassy patios

    · Large grounds to meander around

    · Nearby biking/walking trail

    Cons:

    · Very noisy from nearby trains operated at all hours

    · Few trees for shade or privacy

    · Some sites are very tight and close to your neighbor

    · Can be very crowded

    · WiFi provided but not reliable

    Crawfordsville KOA

    It’s a KOA

It’s about what you’d expect out of a KOA. Easy to find, has a pool, showers, and bathrooms. Not all sites are full hook up but there is a dump station

    Shipshewana North Park Campground

Nice campground in a convenient location

We were passing through and decided to stop for frozen custard at the stand right next to the campground. The first review for this place did not seem very inviting but a more recent one was a little more positive. After checking it out, I thought it could use a little reinforcement of the positives! I’m not sure if there have been new owners since the first review but I received a very friendly greeting, and the office is open from 9 am– 8 pm and clearly marked as the place to check-in.

There are many options here: back-in or pull-thru tent sites, w/e sites, full hook-up sites, camper cabins, and fully equipped cabins. The campsites range from $32-$46 per night and the cabins range from $69-$144 per night. Sites 47-52 are close to the road so you will hear road noise, but Sites 11-35 are farther from the road and are more shaded. The layout is RV park style but there is reasonable separation between the sites.

The restrooms have a code for entry, and I did not see the inside of these.

    Amenities include:

    - a community fire pit

    -  game room with television

    - guest laundry

    - dump station

    - gift shop

    - pet friendly options

     -WiFi

    - There is, of course, an ice cream/frozen custard stand that I dare you to resist.

While we would not consider it a destination, we would definitely consider camping here en route – the price is reasonable, and the staff is friendly and welcoming.

    Crawfordsville KOA

    Quaint

Really cute little park with lots of shade and convenient access to Crawfordsville. We were here for a quick stopover, but made friends with several locals spending time here. It seems like a short vacation spot for locals and long term residents. Pretty basic pool and playground, but really nice landscaping.

    Glo Wood Campground

    Good Location

We stayed here for 3 nights with a 33 ft. 5th wheel.  We had 50 amp/water and sewer. We attended 2 concerts at Ruoff Music Center.  Campground was clean and quiet, although needed to be mowed.  Sites are gravel and fairly level with a firepit and picnic table.  Not much shade at the sites and there are several long term campers.  Owner was very nice and helpful.

This is a great option for concert goers.  It was literally 10 minutes from the venue/Noblesville.

Very large KOA. They have all different types of sites. Pull through back in. Super deluxe, deluxe, full hook ups etc. Love the pool if you have kids this would be a place to stay for a few days. We ordered pizza for dinner they deliver to the site which is nice. Ice cream available a lot of flavors and real ice cream not just soft serve. One of yhe nicer KOAs we stayed in.
