Well Run Campground

The campground was easy to find off I-70. If it is your first time, follow your GPS through two traffic circles then back around to the campground(CG). Check-in was super fast and we were escorted to pull through site 48 with FHUs. As we've stayed here before, We liked this site as there are trees but they won’t get in the way of parking maneuvers. Some of the other sites in this CG, not so much, so look up and watch your turn into the pull-throughs. No issues with utilities as they are smartly placed on the pad and work to include decent water pressure. The Wifi was above average for this type of private CG, but there were not many people here near the end of April. Water pressure is decent and we got 3 bars on Verizon. Along with saying hi to the goats again, this CG was once again a good choice.

Not big Rig Friendly

Cost was$60 a night for a full hook up site. You pay for your whole site cost at the time of the reservation. Most sites are gravel. The campground had WIFI that was fast enough to stream. When I made our reservation, they were given the type and size of our RV and truck. When we arrived, we were told that we would not be able to get into that site due to the turns(too tight). They were able to move us to another site. What was the purpose of asking at reservation time the information about our RV and truck if you are not going to use it? We had to unhook and was not able to park our truck on our site. We had to leave it in the parking lot. There is only water hooks on every other site so depending what site you get, you might have to run your water hose under your RV to hook up. Sites are very close together. I would concern if our neighbor had a fire in their fire pit as it was under our bedroom slide. Our firepit had cigarette butts in it. There is an enclosed dog park. Many areas for children to play– bounce pillow, playground, gem mining, etc. I would not stay here again as they cannot handle large RVs and the sites are too close together. Due to the small site, as we were hooking up to leave, we blocked the road. This meant others had to drive through other sites to get around.

Great spot

This campground was an easy place to stay for a night while on the road. It was clean and well-cared for and everything was as advertised. We’d stay there again and recommend it to anyone else.

Nice campground for a short-term stay

This review is based on a short-term stay versus a destination campground(CG). It was an interesting drive to the CG off I-70 through 2 traffic circles and into the CG as it's close to I-70 but not right off the highway. There was good signage to the CG. The office was closed on a Monday at about 5:00 PM but our paperwork was in the slots outside the office. We followed the provided CG map to pull through site 51 with FHUs. On our second stay two days later we were guided into site 47 with FHUs. Two sites share utilities. This was a nice CG for an overnighter on the way to and from Elkhart, IN for RV maintenance. They have a good-sized dog park. We got 4 bars each on Verizon and T-Mobile. There are mature trees in this CG, but you should not have a problem getting a satellite signal. We got a lot of OTA channels as the CG does not have cable. WiFi performed well for a CG this size. The water pressure was decent. For site 47, watch the tree to the right as you turn in as we brushed our awning. They have tent sites and cabins. There were permanent/transit/seasonal parties here and their sites for the most part were well maintained. The goats and donkeys were a pleasant addition. If you're active or retired military, you should call versus going online to make a reservation to get the military discount. We found out about the discount after we arrived and were supposed to get the discount applied to both stays, but that never happened.

Campsites hard to find!

I arrived at 8 pm & filled in the $ info & put the envelope in the slot. I picked out campsite #29 - randomly - there were many campsites available. I drove around for 15 minutes looking for #29 & finally, out of road fatigue, went back to the entrance & grabbed the card for #27 because I knew where that was! Getting back onto route 70 was really difficult. Some guidance at the campground would be helpful. Also - “wifi” doesn’t mean internet service. I didn’t have access to the internet at all. Not even google maps!

Surprise Find Last Minute

This is our first official stop with our new No Boundaries trailer. Our kids were restless in the truck and driving a minute more would have been torture. The Terra Haute Campground was perfect! We arrived after the office closed. But checking in was a breeze! We chose our site off the map and place cards for spots still open. Filled out the form and put the fee and form in the provided envelope which we dropped in the designated slot. Then off to set up. This used to be a KOA campground. So it was easy to maneuver through the campground. Our spot was easy to find. Set up and hook up easy. Once set up, we explored! My 5 year old loved the playground and peddle car track. He played my 15 year old in a giant game of chess(life size pieces!). The community areas were nice. A pavilion around a large stone fire pit with bench swings for relaxing and gathering. An outdoor kitchen for use looked great for groups. The pool was well maintained too. A little arcade/game room with a pool table was a hit. Dumpsters for trash were well kept and easy to access. For our first stop, we couldn’t have found a more perfect spot. A surprising gem unexpected in Terra Haute. We’d recommend it!

Very Nice Campground

We stopped for one night on our trip from DC to southwestern CO. We pulled in there at about 11pm. The ofc was closed, but the instructions were clear enough that we found our site (We’d booked online on our way there) and quietly set up. We woke this morning at 8 to donkeys braying which was cool. The area is clean, well-managed and has the look of a nice neighborhood of campers in the trees. Lots of kids and activities. The staff we interacted with were very friendly. It’s definitely a great place to stop on the way along RT 70 (easy off and on) for a night. It looks like some folks have settled in for the long haul with flower gardens and lawn furniture.

Perfect for an overnight along the way

Just stayed the night on our way through. It was good enough. Level sites, clean pool and bathrooms. Our site was the pits - the very first one upon entrance so every car in the place had to pass us. Had we stayed more than the night we would have asked to move. And they have donkeys that are cute.

Needs a good cleaning !

We stayed here one night as part of a cross country road trip. This KOA was more expensive and less cared for than the many KOA’s we hit. Needs some attention for sure. Just simply cleaning up the trash strewn around the dumpster would be a start!

Great facilities but owner does not seem to like kids..

Nicely wooded KOA. Sites are level and clean, with nice touches like colorful Adirondack chairs and decorative live plants at many campsites. Roomier than most KOAs we have stayed at, with small privacy fences and patio tables to enhance the space. Also have some fun features for kids such as large chess set, pedal cars, a basketball goal, lIve anImals, and a swimming pool. Unfortunately it does not seem that the owner likes children, as he is inappropriately hateful to them. We have stayed at this KOA three times & 2 of the 3 he has yelled at kids & parents in a hateful & condescending manner about behavior in the swimming pool. He could have handled in a much more professional manner. He is rude & angry. We won’t be back.

Great location to I-70 and Terre Haute

This campground is great proximity to I-70 for an easy on/off the interstate and just outside of downtown Terre Haute (approximately eight miles). The park is nice and shady with large trees. When we were there in November, there were very few other campers and most appeared to be transients there for just one night. With all the amenities in this place there is probably a lot going on in the summer. Downtown Terre Haute has plenty of activities including live music, sporting events, museums, restaurants, and historic sites.

RV sites are pull thrus and back-ins that vary from 50 amp full hook-up with deluxe patio to 30 amp water/electric. All sites were level. There are definitely sites big enough for big-rigs with tow vehicles so you don’t have to unhook if you are just stopping for a night. Water, sewer and electric hook-ups were well-placed and easy to reach. In addition to the RV sites, there are kamping cabins with deluxe accommodations (including air conditioning, kitchens, and bathrooms) capable of sleeping up to 6 people to rustic cabins without bathrooms. Tent sites are available as is a “teepee.”

Amenities at the park include: swimming pool, camp store (with fire wood), full service restaurant (May – November), propane fill, bike rental, basketball courts, playground, horseshoes, petting zoo, and coin laundry. The restroom and shower house was clean. There is a dump station located at the exit of the park. Our Verizon 4G phone and hotpsot had great service. Our antenna picked up about two dozen television channels

If you have a dog, there is an off-leash dog park and you are free to walk dogs around the property and there is a long road leading into park. The only problem we had with the park was that some of the trees were not trimmed and the roads where narrow and would rub against our RV.

Our site was semi private with a porch swing and grill. We had such a fun stay here. Not only do they have a pool and playground, they run a small train every evening for the kids to ride. There is a snack bar/grill at the office and ice cream every evening! Convenient to town, this campground is one of our favorites!
