Caboose Lake Campground

Water activities take center stage at Caboose Lake Campground, where most sites sit directly along the shoreline of a private lake in Remington, Indiana. The campground accommodates RVs up to 75 feet with full hookups and offers both drive-in and boat-in access options.

The lake serves as the main attraction, with clean water and a sandy beach area that draws families. Riley J. notes the "super clean water and beach area with inflatables" along with daily wristband access ($10) that includes bumper boats and unlimited paddle boat rentals. Kayakers can launch from the campground, and fishing is available though catches tend to be small according to recent visitors.

The campground's location near the intersection of Route 24 and I-65 creates steady road noise that carries across the property. Several campers mention this affects sleep quality, particularly for light sleepers. However, the convenient highway access makes it popular with travelers as an overnight stop and workers staying in the area for extended periods. "Almost every spot has a waters edge," reports one reviewer, though the proximity to major roads means constant traffic sounds.

Sites include full electric, water, and sewer hookups, with drinking water, restrooms, and showers available throughout the facility. The campground allows pets and offers reservation options. WiFi is available, and cell service works well for most carriers. Hickey Homestead provides a quieter alternative just over two miles southwest for those wanting to escape highway noise.

Many campers appreciated the lakeside sites and family-friendly water activities, with staff receiving consistent praise for helpfulness. However, road noise from nearby I-65 significantly impacts sleep quality for many visitors.

Worst place to stay at

Highway is louder than you’d think. No good night rest had. People spy on you just to report you. Main office head woman will not work with you and just give you a flat no when you ask about a refund.

One of our faves!

We love Caboose! If you have kids or teens this is your spot. Super clean water and beach area with inflatables- so fun! They do require wristbands which cost 10$ a day but that includes bumper boats and unlimited paddle boat rentals, for us it’s perfect! Fun to take out the kayaks too. We will be back!

Great spot just off the main road

Great spot to pull off the main road and let the kids out and burn off some energy. Beautiful lake! Just what we needed on a long road trip. Stayed again on the way back home. Will def go back!

Convenient

Where Route 24 and I65 meet near Remington. Loud road noise. Planted trees around pond have grown up to provide more privacy. Not my ideal location.

Felt Empty

We booked CLC as a short stop inbetween our trip. Arriving, the entrance was nice, the front office staff were friendly, young girls training. Our site was right by the front office, so we thought it'd be a busy area considering all the rvs we saw, but no. obly workers. To me this campground felt empty like we were the only family there. We soon found out that most people there were working on wind farms around the area. The lake was clean, none of the other water things were on but thats because no one was around using them. To me it's a pass thru the night have to get some rest campground.
