Horse trailers and RVs navigate a well-used access road to reach this Forest Service campground, where equestrian facilities share space with standard car camping. The road sees regular evening traffic, as one camper noted, creating a backdrop of passing vehicles during prime camping hours.
Five to six primitive sites spread across the area, each equipped with fire rings, picnic tables, and gravel parking pads. A pavilion anchors the central area, while vault toilets serve both male and female campers. Fresh water comes from an on-site pump located near the restroom facilities. Michael U. describes it as a "secluded camping area with horse hitch" that accommodates "tents and vans only."
The campground fills quickly during organized trail rides but otherwise remains lightly used by hunters and hikers. Wildlife includes active chorus frogs that call through the night, and horses appear on weekend trails. A hiking loop connects directly to the camping area. Sites offer minimal privacy between neighbors, with generous spacing but little natural screening.
Located five miles from Paoli, the campground provides convenient access to town supplies including a Walmart. For those exploring the broader region, campsites near Paoli offer additional options beyond this horse-friendly Forest Service site.
