Gator Hole

This section of the FT is quite a nice walk, and I assume that most individuals looking at a site on the trail, are looking at Gator Hole. As far as backcountry campsites go, you really can't ask for much better than Gator Hole especially as a beginner, or a more leisurely camping group. It is only…

As Expected.

HBR State Park is what it is, as far as camping goes. The car campground is as expected from places like this. Lots of RV campers, sites that are quite close to each other, and rock-hard ground from being packed down by heavy vehicles day after day. If you plan on ground sleeping in the campground,…

Florida untouched

We arrived at the gate! After hearing of the wilderness preserve we decided to go ahead and get the permit. You drive about a mile down the road from the main state park entrance to find the wilderness preserve entrance which is code protected. After driving back to the parking area, we realized…

Nice but wet.

This was a very nice swimming and paddle boat park on the Hillsborough River when I was a kid.As a family we visited many times. Now everything is closed down except camping, hiking, canoeing if you bring your own. But still a nice place to camp. Better if not during rainy season here in…

County parks

We love State and County parks. This is our favorite county park it is very clean and close to restaurants grocery stores. It has a nice spring to swim in. Several sites are on the river.

A Hideaway

First of all, locked gate. You have to make a free reservation to get the combination. I camped at the primitive side. At the fork bare right then immediately turn right. You'll see the Port-a-John. Port-John was clean with TP. But who doesn't carry TP with them. The grass needed to be cut, it was…

Spacious camp sites!

We loved the large sites. And pretty private. Wooded areas between sites. Nice clean restrooms and showers. Only 2 showers in the ladies bath house. It's old but clean. But it's sapose to be no pets. And a camper near us had a very large dog in a cage that barked all day. Very annoying. Bad area…

Isolated piece of heaven!

Hottest month in Florida but still we had a lovely time here at this park. It was our first time taking our 2016 class C out on the road as total newbies. We checked in at the office with Duane (very friendly) & all the signs are clearly labeled. #2 RV spot was a little small but #3 is lovely…

Best Campground in Florida

Every morning I drank coffee and watched dolphins play 10-15 feet away from me. Waterfront campsites are amazing. Tons of fish and Manatees. All the amenities you need plus spectacular scenario. Make a trip to Sandollar island, hike the fort or just find your own stretch of private beach. 4 days of…

RACCOONS BROKE INTO TENT!

Really nice campground, beautiful area with many hikes and easy walks, the beach, historic sites, really nice camp store and well maintained sites! But so many raccoons!! Oh my gosh like they are not afraid of people and will come and take the s’mores right off your plate! Late while our family was…
