Tucked into the Lower Hillsborough Wilderness Preserve just outside Tampa, Oak Ridge Primitive Campground sits within land managed by the Southwest Florida Water Management District, accessible via Morris Bridge Road (Highway 568). Reservations are required to receive the gate combination, though walk-ins can park at the lot and hike roughly three-quarters of a mile to the sites. Three campsites with picnic tables and fire rings share a pavilion, a non-potable water pump, and an ADA-accessible toilet. Deer and gopher tortoise have been spotted along the trail in. The campground connects to miles of trail, including routes used by equestrians, and campers looking at places to camp near Oakridge will find several other preserves in the same corridor. Bring water treatment. Cell service is available on site.
