Camping near Cape Canaveral, Florida ranges from oceanfront tent sites to full-hookup RV parks, making it one of Florida's most distinctive camping destinations. Jetty Park Campground stands as a popular option with access to the Atlantic Ocean and views of cruise ships and rocket launches. The campground provides tent sites, RV hookups, and cabin accommodations. Other options include Manatee Hammock Campground in Titusville and Sonrise Palms RV Park in Cocoa, both within a short drive of Kennedy Space Center. Most developed campgrounds in the area offer water and electric hookups, with many providing full RV services including sewer connections.

The campground infrastructure throughout Cape Canaveral varies with most offering basic amenities like picnic tables, fire rings, and restroom facilities. "We stayed at Jetty Park for three nights in December. The weather was gorgeous. We were in the inlet sites with just water hookups. Loved watching the cruise ships pass by!" notes one visitor. Weather considerations are significant, as Florida's summer heat and humidity can be intense from June through September, while winter months offer milder temperatures ideal for camping. Hurricane season (June-November) may affect travel plans, requiring flexible itineraries. Most campgrounds require reservations, especially during winter months when seasonal visitors arrive from northern states, and during launch events at Kennedy Space Center.

The proximity to beaches and waterways characterizes many camping experiences in this region. Several visitors mention the unique opportunity to view rocket launches and cruise ships from their campsites as a major highlight. Campers appreciate the beach access at Jetty Park, where the fishing pier and protected swimming areas appeal to families. A camper remarked, "Sites are a bit small, but wow, it's got everything. Breakfast/lunch place, a restaurant with bar within walking distance. You can see space launches, close to KSC, beach, jetty. Spectacular." Some developed campgrounds report tight spacing between sites, though the prime oceanfront location compensates for the close quarters. The Cape Canaveral camping area is especially known for its unique combination of beach access and space program proximity, making it a distinctive camping destination in Florida. Seasonal patterns show highest occupancy during winter months and during major launch events, when reservations should be secured well in advance.

      Enchanted Lakes RV Resort

      Horrible for the price

My husband and I travel all over the southern United States for work. We live primarily in our 43 foot 2025 Jayco Pinnacle 38FBRK 5th wheel that we take great pride in. We research RV parks in the area in which we are moving so that we can stay in a good place. When we found this RV park via the internet we were encouraged by the pictures shown and the fact that it was a 55+ community. My husband, David, called and spoke with Niesha who presented herself as the Property Manager. David had explained our camper and our requirements for a RV lot as far as the size we needed and that we did not want to be under any trees. Niesha stated that the RV pad was“brand new and had fresh, level gravel. There is a tree all the way in the back but it should not be over your camper”. We did our due diligence and looked at the pictures and read the reviews provided on their site. We thought that was perfect and booked our reservation for a year and a half as that is how long our current job is projected to last. We made our necessary arrangements and headed out from Bay Minette, Alabama to this above mentioned RV park on September 19, 2026. Upon arrival to Enchanted Lakes at 1830 on the 18th of September, there were no signs directing us where to go for the RV spots, so we had to drive around the whole complex until we found our pad; and I use the term“pad” loosely. As we looked at this half a pad with a flooded out grass“driveway”, we were not sure that we would even be able to get the camper up on the pad. We did finally get it up there but it kept sliding off the side because this is the way the pad sloped. We tried to call the office but they do not work on the weekends and there is no emergency number to call should anyone have an issue. Our camper was leaning so badly that we had to leave it hooked up to David’s truck and took my truck to the local Home Depot for concrete bricks so we could set up for the night. After spending another$100, wewere finally able to finish at 2300 that evening and we were able to go to sleep for the night with the camper set up enough to do that and that alone. The morning of the 20th, we were back outside at 0830 to fix the pad. The process of fixing the pad consisted of shoveling/shifting gravel, placing concrete blocks and pavers under our outriggers and tires so that we could achieve a level and safe set up. All the while, we were being attacked by ants and other assorted pests as the grass had not been properly maintained, cut or treated. We were able to finish and call it a day at 1530 that afternoon. Never in our lives have we ever had to work so hard to ensure a proper set up for our rig. On the 21st, we again returned to Home Depot for bug treatments, ie…granules, spray, etc. When spraying the area under our camper, dozens upon dozens of roaches started to scatter. I had never seen so many roaches in my life! We were able to treat the whole area around our camper with the hopes that we treated it in time to avoid an infestation. Monday the 22nd, we went to office as instructed to sign our paperwork. My husband was extremely upset but agreed that we needed to keep level heads when talking face to face with Niesha. Our first attempt to get the paperwork done as dismissed by Niesha because she had interviews to conduct. She asked that we come back at 1400 which was more convenient for her and we agreed. When we did return, our paperwork was not even completed. She inquired about the site and I told her that we were not happy in the least with the pad. I explained what all we had done and she didn’t seem surprised. She just kept pointing to a printed email on her wall that showed which sites were newly graveled and leveled. I told her that someone was lying to her and that she should go out and look at the site. She replied,“That is above my pay grade and I don’t leave the office”. We explained that we have an acorn tree over the back of our camper that constantly drops acorns on my roof. She said,“I didn’t realize that your camper was going to go back that far”. We again stated what we told her over the phone prior to booking to which she assured us that the tree was not going to be a problem, so yes she should have known. Niesha then stated,“Well, I really don’t know anything about campers so I don’t really know what to tell you. You wanna move to another site?”. I explained that after all the work we have done to this site that I had no intentions of moving my camper anywhere else in this park. My husband then asked if she could provide more gravel for the end of the driveway as our trucks are sinking and rutting the grass to the point that we have to put our trucks in 4 wheel drive just to get out. She again stated,“Well that is above my pay grade and I don’t have anything to do with that. You can just tear up the grass. No one else complains about it so I’m not sure why you are. No one else complains about the pads and I don’t know anything about campers and what they need.” At this point, my husband and I signed for the month and just left the office because we knew we were not going to get anywhere with her. Her condescending tone and attitude was more than enough for us at this point. During all this weekend mentioned, we have had several of the neighbors stop and talk with us. They have all given us basically the same message,“Run!”. We have heard horror stories from them regarding the office’s indifference to any concerns or general maintenance of the park. We were warned about ant and roaches, mice and rats, and the fact that the maintenance man cannot perform the most basic of tasks. We were warned not to sign a lease. We were warned to make sure we had a surge protector, which we always use, because the electric poles are poorly done and have already burned up several of the residents surge protectors. These power pole incidents left residents without power for several days. We were warned that we need to make sure that we have extra water because when the water lines get hit, we could go as long as 24 hours or more without water. We were warned to keep an eye on our electric meter ourselves because they do not always read the meters as they should and will just charge what they charged the last time they read it. The water is for food human consumption and we have a state of the art three part filter system.

There are other parks that charge you the same amount but all utilities are included, the pads are actually pads and they have amenities.

      Donald MacDonald Campground

      Great primitive camping

Lots of sites in a ring around the bath house, which has hot and cold water running. Spigots at every site and a fire ring, very secluded and I’m the only non-RV here. Dock leads out to a wonderful view of the river, gorgeous. Publix and Walgreens à ten minute bike ride away.

Lots of palmettos so the bugs are out full force with huge stick bugs and palmetto bugs. Mosquitoes galore, bring spray.

      Buffer Preserve RV Park

      Fresh and Clean

This park sits just off of I95, so it is convenient but not particularly quiet solely based on proximity to the highway. The RV pads are very wide and each has full hookups. There isn't a ton going on at the park directly, but the pool is nice and the amenities (shower, laundry, etc) are all in great shape. The camp host was really friendly and proactive.

      Sebastian Inlet State Park Campground

      Waterside Park With The Basics

This campsite has a lot to offer for those who love the water and outdoors. Endless opportunities for fishing/kayaking, but not a ton outside of that.

During my visit, the beach access was closed for construction, but the next access point is a short drive away. As expected during the summer...hot, humid, and "buggy". Side note, its a bit of a drive to the nearest grocery store, so come prepared.

      Manatee Hammock Campground

Busy Park on the Indian River

Some campsites are close but the nice dog park and the location near Kennedy Space Center made me not mind so much. Great place to watch launches. Staff is friendly and park facilities are well looked after. The tent sites are on grass but close enough to the river to get cooling breezes in hotter months.

      Camp Kennedy RV Resort

It’s very family and pet friendly! Clean!

The only reason I gave it 4 stars was for lack of security. It’s not a gated RV park. Everything else is wonderful. Very friendly and accommodating staff. Love the trees and concrete drive thru spaces! Large spaces for your car and bikes. For the fur babies they have lots of disposable spots with bags for clean up. Nice size pool shaded by the trees in the evening from the West Sun. This is our first stay here and it’s been extremely great and quiet. Much more peaceful than we initially thought.

      Palm Shores RV Park

      Hidden Gem

Very convenient location right off US1 and directly across from the river. Quiet park, friendly neighbors and very clean facilities. Sites are leveled with concrete patios. The manager is a nice young man and was very helpful with helping us get our RV backed in and he assisted us when we had issues with getting one of our RV stabilizers down. You see him around cleaning and taking care of things in the park. Parking is a little tight, as it’s a smaller community, but we’re happy and looking forward to our stay here.

    Guide to Cape Canaveral

Cape Canaveral's camping areas sit on a barrier island between the Atlantic Ocean and the Banana River, with elevations rarely exceeding 10 feet above sea level. The region experiences strong coastal breezes throughout the year, creating cooler conditions than inland Florida camping sites. Summer thunderstorms develop almost daily between June and September, typically in the afternoon hours.

    What to do

Rocket launch viewing: Find prime viewing spots at Manatee Hammock Campground where you can see Kennedy Space Center across the water. "This is a nice campground that's located right on the intercoastal waterway right across from Kennedy Space Center. We saw two rocket launches while here," notes Dave D.

Fishing from designated piers: Access fishing opportunities at parks with waterfront locations. A camper at Manatee Hammock mentions, "We watched the manatees and dolphins swim right by us on the real nice fishing dock." The jetty and ocean piers provide additional fishing access for campers.

Beach exploration: Many camping sites near Cape Canaveral, Florida offer beach access within walking distance. "Great location, good sites. Easy access to restaurants/bars. Good beach biking, fishing, watching the cruise ships come and go," reports Angela S. about Jetty Park Campground.

Wildlife observation: Look for manatees and dolphins in the Indian River at multiple campsites. "With so many gorgeous water birds and trees. The park sits off the Indian River and is the perfect place to catch a launch," shares one visitor about the natural surroundings.

    What campers like

Waterfront views: Many campers appreciate sites with direct water views. At KARS Park, "Located on the river across from Kennedy Space Center, it's a great spot to view launches with 20 or so spots along the river," according to Eleanor.

Clean facilities: Campers consistently mention bathroom and shower cleanliness as important factors. "Bathrooms are basic but clean. Staff is wonderful," notes one camper at Jetty Park Campground.

Shade options: In Florida's heat, tree cover becomes valuable. At Manatee Cove Family Campground, campers find "Nice wooded lots... nice change of scenery here on the Florida coast. Quite and Peaceful."

Dog-friendly areas: Many campsites welcome pets with dedicated areas. "There is a large fenced Dog Park on the riverfront," mentions Dennis J. about Manatee Hammock, while another camper notes Sonrise Palms has a "Gated dog park with lots of toys."

    What you should know

Site spacing varies widely: Some campgrounds offer more privacy than others. At Sonrise Palms RV, campers appreciate the layout, while at other locations, "sites are a bit small" according to visitor feedback.

Military base access restrictions: Some campgrounds require military credentials. At Manatee Cove Family Campground, "Only available to KSC/NASA employees and military though (and requires an annual membership of $15-20)."

Seasonal population changes: Winter months bring significant increases in campers. "Very busy in the winter," notes Donald M. about Jetty Park. Summer brings fewer campers but much higher temperatures.

Train noise at some locations: Some campgrounds experience railroad noise. At Manatee Hammock, one camper warns of "freight train noise every night in the early morning hours and traffic noise, specially with campsites near the busy US-1."

Fire restrictions: Rules about campfires vary by location. At Manatee Hammock, "no fires unless you bring your own fire pit and must be at least 6" off the ground," while some prohibit fires completely.

    Tips for camping with families

Look for protected swimming areas: Families appreciate designated swim zones. "The beach is also a short walk away. The pier and protected swimming areas appeal to families," mentions one camper about Jetty Park's amenities.

Consider sites with playground access: Several campgrounds feature play areas for children. Wickham Park Campground offers "lots of bike/walking paths and wide open, quiet spaces" with a playground nearby, according to Jeff F.

Pack for afternoon thunderstorms: Summer brings predictable afternoon storms. Plan morning activities and have indoor options for afternoons, especially with children.

Try disc golf courses: Some parks offer additional recreational options. "Disc golf, food trucks, farmers market, playground the list goes on!" shares Mikella about Wickham Park's family-friendly features.

Book weekday stays when possible: Campgrounds report quieter environments midweek. "We stayed here with a tent in mid-June, during the week. The campground was quiet, with about two-thirds of the sites unoccupied," notes Denis P.

    Tips from RVers

Check site dimensions carefully: RV sites vary significantly in size. "Any one with a 42 footer or more might struggle in a few spots. Call the office, they'll let you know the better lots for the big rigs," advises Melissa B.

Concrete pad availability: Some sites offer concrete pads, which RVers prefer. "The sites were clean with concrete slab," mentions one camper about their experience.

Plan for summer heat impact: High temperatures affect RV camping without full hookups. "Being prepared for the rustic setup" is important, as one camper notes that shaded sites can limit solar panel function while making summer temperatures more bearable.

Storage options: Some campgrounds offer RV storage for long-term visitors. "On top of that, they provide onsite storage options," notes one camper about the convenience for seasonal RVers.
