Don't come here (LOL)

Don't come here, because it'll make it harder for the rest of us!

This is a wonderful, but maybe too small campground. The views are gorgeous especially in the morning and evening light. The customers seem very nice, and well mannered. The staff is just exceptional.

You can spend an afternoon on the deck with a beverage. There will likely be some folks fishing, and there's a good chance you'll see Dolphin, and maybe Manatee. If there is a launch from Kennedy Space Center you can see that too, although you're about 20 miles away, still really impressive.

This is just one of those wonderful places where you can come to relax and unwind. Unassuming, at the end of a dead end road. Just a little piece of paradise.

And of course it is a campground, so the sites are a little narrow, the wifi's not good, blah, blah, blah. So you know, don't come here. :)

Oasis on a Canal

This is my first time in this campground. It not very big, but gives great access to good fishing and fun family times.

This has been the rainy season this trip, but mornings until 12pm, the weather is great. The rain comes every afternoon and gives us an occasional break around break through the beginning of nightfall.

Small but Great Views

The campground is small and quiet. The sites are VERY close together. That’s probably the only thing I don’t like about this campground. It’s a little, out of the way, quiet spot to enjoy some incredible views.

The staff has been super friendly. The little pier is nice. Their office/bait shop also stocks a cooler with different beers, seltzers and ciders. I was impressed with the selection. We grabbed a couple and enjoyed them on the “tiki deck”.

We work remotely during the week and the Verizon signal so far has been fine. They have wifi, but we opted not to pay for it unless we have issues with work. It’s $10 for 1 device for 7 days, but I couldn’t tell you how fast it is.

We are in a 33 ft tow behind travel trailer and we have plenty of length to our spot, but it was a tight squeeze to park in between a palm tree and the site line stake. There are plenty of bigger rigs in here, but I’d suggest preparing yourself for multi point turns to navigate the park.

Canaveral National Seashore Getaway @ Indian Mound Fish Camp

I'm always cautious when I read or see 'Fish Camp' on any sign.  Generally, this can mean a number of things - 1) it's a fishing hole; 2) it's a restaurant that serves fish and typically some good local suds; or 3) it might actually be a campground (that usually has 1 or 2 of the aforementioned elements.  That said, I was pleasantly surprised to find Indian Mound Fish Camp offered all of these elements, so If you’ve got an RV, camper en tow or looking for a ready-made cabin on the water, then this particular RV location just off of Route 1, which parallels the Atlantic Ocean here in Florida just south of Edgewater and within a stone’s throw of Canaveral National Seashore, then Indian Mound Fish Camp may just be the perfect spot for you.

Quick point of caution: if you’ve got a tent you’re looking to set up and camp out in nature, then unfortunately, this location won’t accommodate your travel plans as there’s no tent camping.

With ample side-by-side elongated parking lanes for your parking pleasure, a good dozen or so of these slots plant you right in front of a gorgeous view of the intracoastal waterway, all of the sites come equipped with the typical 30/ 50 amp electrical hook-ups, waste disposal and water connections. There’s the standard picnic table, garbage receptacles and even a few community BBQ grills scattered about. The hosts are incredibly nice, are on-site and present and offer pricing by the night, week and month.

Overall, the community is inviting and friendly and there’s at times some planned activities throughout the week (check with the front desk), but the real gem here is the outstanding waterfront bar, which you can either purchase your choice of inebriation on-site, or bring your own to pop open and enjoy the sinking sun.

While there’s not a ton of amenities to pick and choose from, this location does come with BBQ, intercoastal front access for your kayak/ canoe, spartan bathing facilities and an on-site store that has everything for your fishing needs. Near this RV despot, you do have access to Turnbull Hammock Conservation Area, which is great for a long hike or even a dip in the water with your kayak (just bring your insect repellent!).

Insider’s tip? The big draw here on the central east coast side of Florida is Cape Canaveral itself, so if you time it right, you’ll have a spectacular camping experience, complete with a rocket or satellite being launched into outer space. Now that’s far out!

Happy Camping!

Very relaxing

Super friendly staff. The moment we checked in they greeted us with a complimentary beer. Our site had a great view of the lagoon. We spent most of the time fishing and relaxing. Very nice place to stay. The bait shop pretty much has everything you need and everything is clean and well maintained.

Little Piece of Paradise on the Intracoastal

We love this family owned and operated in the heart of Mosquito Lagoon! Awesome fishing and kayak rentals on site. Beautiful waterfront sites or quiet nature preserve sites on the back side! Clean bathrooms and a nice bait shop open everyday to use off their lighted fishing pier.
