RangerRight off highway about a mile from lozardhead dispersed. Zero verizon cell. The road is VERY rough and rocky. I bailed out going up the hill but people were pulling trailers up there so its possible with a truck. There appears to be a second road in about 200 yards south of the first one. Maybe try that. But to bumpy for me.

GuideSites are real tight. Like less than 5 feet apart. I lucked out and there we only 3 campers during my stay. So we had our space.

Bugs werent as bad as most of the Colorado sites I’ve been to.

ScoutStayed at the first site off the dirt road through the parking area to the left of the main dirt road. High clearance needed for sure; but made it up the road in a stock Subaru Forester. Camp ring. Leave no trace; pack it in, pack it out. No amenities. Less than 30 minutes to Crested Butte.
ScoutBased on reviews we knew you wouldn’t come here for privacy but for cool views. There’s a couple with a tent, canopy and chairs spread out across several years. We set up our tent like 2 yards from them. AFTER we set up our tent they asked us to move so she had privacy to pee (um dispersed camping??) and were rude when we moved as we did not want to be next to people like that. This really soured what could have been a nice experience. Here today 7/4.
Side, yeah you super need AWD or 4WD but fun drive to get here.
ScoutAround 10 spots. Have neighbors, but pretty private and spread out. Right on the creek for a nice ambient noise while sleeping. Need high clearence. 4x4 is good to have.
