Free camping at elevation near Paradise Divide requires a vehicle with 4x4 or solid clearance. The road up includes exposed, narrow sections. Dispersed sites are now regulated and marked, each with a fire ring, and weekday arrivals have a better chance of securing a spot than summer weekends. The area sits close to the 401 and 404 mountain biking trails and high-elevation hiking. Snow can linger into July, so August is the most reliable window for access.

This area is closed to dispersed camping as of 2024. Fines will be enforced - please camp at the designated campgrounds in the area.
