Nice spot nearby

Tons of hiking trails, summit trail was nearby our spot in Juniper, no water available when we went, gates are closed sunset-sunrise, all around a cool spot and its nice how close it is to home. Seems pretty difficult to get a reservation, but its worth it if you can get in

Large and well-maintained with excellent nearby hiking

Great campground, stayed 4 nights in December. Highlights include sunrise views over the lake and hills with rolling fog, wild turkeys everywhere, smell of eucalyptus, warm showers, and scores of dedicated staff who genuinely care about this place. Sites are also nicely-spaced apart. (Though this…

3 campgrounds, Juniper the best, but sunset lock-in

Mt. Diablo SP has 3 campgrounds: Live Oak, Juniper, and several first come first serve sites at the junction of South Gate and North Gate roads about 2000ft up the mountain.

Live Oak is the closest to the entrance (and town), and features some cool rock formations to explore, but it's colder,…

Way better than the bad reviews say!

If you want a great little place with quick easy access to San Francisco that has a great view of the ocean this place is great! And affordable! It's a little extra on a Thousand Trails membership... but the area is just so crazy expensive I can understand the need. The staff was welcoming on the…

Awesome spot!

Awesome campground right by the beach in beautiful Half Moon Bay. Enjoy the sound of the ocean waves all night long. Sites are spacious, level and have picnic tables. Electric hook up is available but no water or sewer. They have a dump station for $10. Bathrooms have toilets on one side,…

Craggy Meadow Urban Hideout

Let's just call a spade a spade here, alright? This campground isn't going to be one that you look back at and fondly recollect a surreal experience in the middle of nature with all of the rustic touches one might come to expect when camping in NorCal. And while the Redwoods and Sequoias will steal…

Campground Cul-de-Sac

This site is a nice hidden gem that many won't know even has a campground. While tiny and available only for a small number of campers, if you can get a spot booked well in advance, you'll have the place nearly all to yourself. Located just off of 680, you'll take Bollinger Canyon Road where you'll…

  • From the parking lot, you'll walk 100 paces to come to this gate, push and enter
  • Looking back at the parking lot (where there's a solid 70 or so parking spots) - careful, on the weekend, this place gets crowded!
  • Keep this gate shut, otherwise we'll have cows on the highway!

Fantastic

Got here on a Sunday night, and even though online they were full, they only had a dozen campers. At least 70 spots here, nice tent areas. Dispersed and lots of views. Bathrooms were ok, showers hot, but they were spread out. No generators allowed. Actually allowed pit fires, which surprised us…

Top-Notch Group Campsite in Marin County California

Per my rating system, I usually reserve 5 stars for those parks that are worth traveling to from long distances (i.e. out of state). While Marin county CA is definitely worth traveling to, it's the region that's 5 stars, not necessarily individual campsites in the many state parks worth visiting in…
