About

KoA

Santa Cruz North-Costanoa KOA, nestled near Pescadero, CA, is a gem for those looking to camp with a touch of comfort. This place is open year-round and offers a variety of accommodations, from tents and RVs to cabins, yurts, and even glamping options.

One of the standout features here is the cleanliness. Visitors consistently rave about the immaculate grounds and ultra-clean bathrooms. If you're traveling with kids, they'll love the playground and the bike rentals. The campground also has a market, so you can grab essentials without venturing too far.

For those who enjoy a good meal, the on-site restaurant, Cascade, is a pleasant surprise. The food is top-notch, with fresh vegetables straight from the garden and expertly prepared dishes that rival some of the best restaurants in San Francisco and Oakland. The cocktails are equally impressive, making it a great spot to unwind after a day of exploring.

The campground is big-rig friendly and offers amenities like electric and water hookups, showers, and a sanitary dump. Pets are welcome, and there's even a fire ring and picnic table at each site. If you're planning to stay, consider splurging on a site with a patio for a bit more space and comfort.

While the Wi-Fi can be spotty and cell service limited, the natural beauty and serene environment more than make up for it. The sunsets are breathtaking, and a short hike will take you to the beach, perfect for a peaceful stroll or a bit of exploration.

Overall, Santa Cruz North-Costanoa KOA is a fantastic spot for families and anyone looking to enjoy the great outdoors with a few added comforts.

No rooftop tents allowed

Just a warning that apparently this is a franchise KOA and by "owner decision" no rooftop tents are allowed. So if you go there with a rooftop tent on your rig, I guess you will need to bring a ground tent too

Adventures with Memaw and Papa

We arrived on Sunday and left on Tuesday, so we didn't get to experience the weekend activities. We will be back for that! We got to camp about 6, so it was dark. It was a little confusing as we couldn't see exactly where the camp check in was as compared to the resort check-in. Once we figured it out, the late check in paperwork was detailed on how to find our space. The spaces are tight - (I'm a reformed back Packer and tent camper) but ample for Stella (our 26-foot type C RV) The grounds are IMMACULATE! Plenty of bathrooms, back-in spots had cute little decks nearby, a fire ring, and moveable picnic table. People were courteous. Sunset was amazing. Took a short hike to the beach. Had dinner at the Castanoa restaurant. Beware of the kid's pizza, it is huge! Grandkids wanted to ride the bikes before we left, kiosk wasn't open yet, but the gentleman at the camp kiosk helped us. They are harder than they look. Overall a great visit. Recommended to friends already.

Upgrading to five stars

I’m taking this up a notch to five full stars because I don’t think it’s fair to compare it to a national park anymore. It’s its own thing and it’s very successful at it. It’s fantastic at catering families with kids. This is our second stay at this particular KOA and we found the campground to be super clean the bathrooms to be ultra clean. The restaurant at the lodge, the Cascade, was phenomenal. This is coming from someone used to San Francisco and Oakland restaurants. The vegetables were all grown in the garden and the dishes were expertly executed, and so dang fresh we could not believe we were at a KOA.The cocktails are equally impressive. The bike rentals were a hit with the kids and I know they were lots of activities. We missed out on due to time a crunch. Once I accepted that we were actually Glamping, I had a great time and stop being such a snob.

I do recommend paying a bit more for the more spacious sites. Next time I’m going for the ones with the patio, those people looked quite happy.

So far so good

Seems nice and clean AND I have a great site. Easy to find. Wifi like always is iffy and ATT is limited. 1 bar at site 30. Lots of children running around so if kids aren’t your thing this is not the place. Remember to go to the market before arriving. It’s relatively close…say approximately 10 miles away. I must say I do enjoy being nestled in the trees.

Not sure it’s camping!

This is only our second KOA experience. Pretty posh in comparison to the other one in South Dakota with the exception of not having a pool. Spots are very close together but the neighbors are very polite. There is a nice playground next to an equally nice café called the pinecone. The weather here is cold just a heads up be prepared for wind and overcast weather. Bathrooms could be a lot cleaner I was glad we had our own bath and toilet in the RV. The nights were pretty loud but the management made sure that everything was shut down by 10 PM. And I agree with the other reviewer is the Wi-Fi is virtually nonexistent from the RV back in spots at least and our AT&T had zero bars for most of the trip. Back in spots have far more space.

Expensive and noisy, terrible wifi

Lot of kids, and hence a lot of noise at our spot. Very expensive at 150 UsD. We had no choice late at night but would not recommend it for a couple. Prefer the State Parks. For families it might be great. Wifi is terrible and 4G as well.

Awesome Place

This is a great camp ground for families as well as seniors! We are seniors and stayed recently over a weekend when they have their most activities. We attended a presentation on the wild birds in the area that an employee provided, and then he took us on a hike through Costanoa and over to the ocean. He was awesome and the hoke was great! Came back and had lunch at the restaurant. Observed great activities for kids! This is a great place e!!!

Great if you know what to expect

We had a very nice stay for a long weekend. The pull through spaces are extremely tight to the point that our slide out was hitting vegetation and our neighbors awning was about two feet from our Rv. But, if you expect that, it’s a great place to stay. Very clean, well maintained, and about a 20 minute walk to the ocean. Decent takeout from the restaurant and great cocktails! Very convenient dog park. We had almost the entire row to ourselves after checkout on Sunday. We will definitely return for the full experience when all restrictions are lifted, but will leave our two big dogs at home as there wasn’t much space for them.

Fantastic (but pricey) KOA Experience

Yes, this is a KOA, so if you are into tent camping or an immersive forest setting, you might want to look elsewhere. But for a quick weekend jaunt for RV campers, this location slightly more than an hour from the Bay Area is hard to beat. Full hook-ups are available, there is an on site restaurant and outdoor bar, and there is close proximity to multiple beaches and tide pools. The resort also has great activities for kids that they occasionally bring on site, such as a climbing wall and nature talks with live animals. The sites at the bottom of the first loop with awesome sunset views are my favorite. Very grassy and “outdoorsy” for a KOA.

Expensive beautiful camping accords from the ocean

This place just has everything including always lit fireplaces at the bath houses. Very social camping place. So much to do. Great for families, but it was too much for my husband and I looking for seclusion.
