Two Moon is Glendo’s oldest campground, and can be accessed from I-25 by making your way through town to Glendo Park Road, and following Glendo Park road for about 4 miles, until you see the signs for Two Moon Campground. There are three entrances that will take you into the campground. It is situated within a pine forest, on a bluff which overlooks the lake. While there is no direct water access from Two Moon Campground, the Marina Boat ramp is a short 3/4 mile jaunt away and there is a small, but popular day use beach near the Marina, which can be accessed through Shelter Point Campground. Two Moon does have a trailhead, which gives hikers and bikers access to a large section of our non-motorized trail system, including a fairly easy-going trail which encircles the campground, and provides some beautiful views of the reservoir and dam. Two Moon also has three yurts, which are available for reservation year-round. Please check out our page on the yurts here for more information. Because of its age, much of Two Moon is built to accommodate smaller camping units (27 feet or less) and tents. We encourage visitors with larger RVs and fifth wheels to use the campground’s electrical sites and/or most of the campsites along the side of the campground closest to Glendo Park Road; the access road to the campsites farther back is narrow and winding, and most of those sites are too small to accommodate such camping units. Because Two Moon has such extensive amenities, and is relatively close to the park entrance, it is our most popular campground during the Spring, Fall, and Winter, though it recently has been an immensely popular summer destination as well.

CAMPSITES AT COLTER BAY ARE AVAILABLE ONLY ON A FIRST-COME-FIRST-SERVED BASIS. CAMPING IS ALLOWED AT DESIGNATED SITES ONLY.

Colter Bay is a small campground, which is situated in a stand of Cottonwood trees just off of Lakeshore Drive. With only seven individual campsites, it is an ideal spot for you and your family to have some space to yourselves. The campground is largely undeveloped, with only a dirt road for access; six of the campsites do not have any established camping pads. Site 5 has an ADA compliant concrete RV pad. Colter Bay also has decently close access to the water on a seasonal basis. Normally, from May through early-mid July, the bay has water in it, and the campsites have very close foot-traffic access to the water. The water access, and sheltered nature of the cove make Colter Bay a very popular campground during high water. During the rest of the year, the bay drains out, and this campground becomes one of the farthest from the water. All campsites in Colter Bay are potentially impacted during high water flooding.

To access Reno Cove from the I-25 exit, make your way through town to Glendo Park Road, and turn south towards the main fee booth. Just after the Main Fee Booth, turn left onto Lakeshore Drive, and follow Lakeshore Drive for about 3 miles; the campground will be on your right. Reno Cove follows a hillside which slopes towards the lake, and culminates in a long, low water boat ramp at the end. It is largely situated in a stand of small ponderosa pine trees, and is a campground with 22 campsites, spread over three separate areas, each of which has a nearby vault toilet. Sites 1 through 11 are all large sites with well-established camping pads, and electrical hookups. These sites will accommodate large rigs, and for the most part have little to no shade. Sites 9, 10, and 11 are partially shaded. All but one of the other campsites in Reno are undeveloped, with varying degrees of rougher terrain. Sites 2 and 18 have large, cement ADA compliant parking pad, although the access road to 18 is undeveloped. The other sites are better suited to smaller camping rigs and/or tent camping. Reno Cove has one water hydrant, which is located on the western side of the high water boat ramp parking lot. The campground also has two boat ramps: one for high water, and one for low water. This makes Reno one of two boat ramps which are reliably available year round.

Amenities: Electricity (at select sites), Drinking Water, Day Use Group Shelter, Seasonal Boat Ramp and Courtesy Dock, Vault Toilets (3), Fee Canister, ADA accessible camping pads (3)

Bennett Hill is a wide open campground with 44 campsites, and can be most easily accessed from I-25 by turning north on Highway 319 in the town of Glendo, and then turning right onto Lakeshore Drive. Bennett Hill is about a mile down Lakeshore Drive, and will be on the left. The campground is spacious and has plenty of area for you and your family to enjoy the sun and some extraordinary night skies. Most campsites are exposed, with little to no shade, and are situated in a prairie of native grasses. The only exceptions are sites 11 through 20, which are up against a line of cottonwoods. All sites, except for 11 through 20 have large, established, gravel pads for RVs. Sites 11 through 20 are potentially impacted by high water, though trees prevent them from having direct water access. All other sites are a good distance from the water, though many have a decent view of Airport Bay. Sites 3,4, and 6, along with sites 26 through 29 are group sites, which will accommodate up to three camping units. The boat ramp is available seasonally, with the courtesy dock becoming usable in early Spring, and coming out of the water in late July to early August. The day use shelter is reservable from May 1 through September 30.

Sandy Beach is a large, white-sand beach on the eastern side of the reservoir. The beach provides a spectacular view of the reservoir, and Laramie Peak to the west. The wide open sand and gradually sloping shoreline give plentiful opportunities for swimming and water recreation, which makes Sandy Beach one of our park’s most popular summer destinations. Campsites at Sandy Beach are divided into two campgrounds: Sandy Beach Dune and Sandy Beach Willow. There is a fee booth at the entrance to these campgrounds as well. To access Sandy Beach, follow the standard directions to access the Glendo State Park Main Fee Booth. However, once you are headed south on Glendo Park Road, follow it past the main fee booth and over the dam. After you have crossed the dam, stay on Glendo Park Road for another 8.5 miles, until you see the large sign for Sandy Beach. Turn left, following the signage until you see the Sandy Beach fee booth; go through the booth entrance to access either Dune or Willow Campgrounds.

Cottonwood is a campground on the northeastern shore of the reservoir, and can be accessed by turning north, just before the Sandy Beach Fee Booth and following the gravel road for a half mile. Largely situated on the sand, Cottonwood provides excellent beach access for most of the summer, and is mostly situated in a cottonwood grove, which provides excellent picnicking opportunities. The campground has 14 sites spread across three separate areas. Sites 1 through six are clustered together underneath a stand of cottonwood trees. The campground’s only toilet and water hydrant are near these sites. Sites 7 through 13 are further east, and are situated against a stand of Cottonwood trees; these sites are all at least partially shaded. Site 14 is further east, and sits just over a hill away from the main campground. The level camping area at site 14 is fairly exposed, but trees surround the campsite. From mid-May to mid-late July, the campsites at Cottonwood are a short walk from the water’s edge, with cottonwoods and a sandy beach in between. During the rest of the year, Cottonwood Cove is drained or in the process of draining, and the campground becomes farther away from the water.

Reno Cove — Glendo State Park

    Clean and beautiful park

The park was a great place to stay. Our spot was clean and level with electric. It was a convenient bike ride to the water. A vault was at the entrance of our particular site that was clean, well stocked and had a night light inside and out. The dump station is near the park HQ, as is potable water to fill your camper. There is no water at any of the sites.

    In the pines

Spent two nights here. Some of the camp spots had electric, but the ones that were in where the trees were were all dry camping. Lots of great hiking trails though. High above the lake so no lake access here but boat ramp was maybe a mile down the road. Paid $94 for two nights which was for out of state visitor included electric and car permit. Had a fun looking playground for the kiddos.

    Well Spaced Sites

No need to print receipt as the email says but if you don’t print it, call ahead. Also if you plan to use the lake, call ahead. It is drained once per year, usually in July. It’s only empty for about a week to ten days. We stayed at Sandy Point. Close to the lake, provided there is one. Also close to the train tracks. I like trains so it wasn’t an issue. Also they are going slow and are pretty quiet for freight trains. This is a great place to base to see numerous historical sites.

Lovely Vista from our campsite; friendly staff

We arrived on July 4 for an overnight stay.  Great staff, we were taken to our site by a staff member and assured that if thee was anything we didn't like, we could change.  It was quiet, even for a holiday, and the fireworks were a couple miles away, so we could see them but not hear them.  A plus for our super anxious pup who doesn't like thunder or fireworks!

    Stunning park

There are 8 spots. We chose 1. 2/3 have a light on a pole close. 4-8 all super spots. It’s like a private resort once the gates close at 8. There is a playground, horseshoes, volleyball court, shelter with electricity, creek, drinking water spigot, nice outhouse potty. We saw rattlesnakes which was a plus for me. Caretakers are lovely. We rode our motorcycles here no problem. This is the most beautiful park I’ve ever stayed in . Stunning red rock cliffs and creek under a natural bridge. OH fairys too, and lots of bunnies. Oscar the Grouch trash cans. Clean, adorable, breathtaking camp.

    Great Location

Beautiful tree lined park in the center of town. Borders the North Platte River and a main city street. Traffic noise? Yes. But it wasn’t bothersome. Local folks driving through to see what’s going on and who’s visiting? Yes! And why wouldn’t they? Clean restrooms and showers? Yes! Picnic tables…Grills…Green grass…Beautiful trees…Water? Yes! And free for up to 2 nights! Douglas is a great community and there is a ton to see and do nearby.

    Group Camping Trip

It was a weekend trip with a few of our friends. 6 Adults and 5 children. Three Rvs ranging from 16 ft to 35 ft. We got the group camping sites at Fish Canyon Campground 200A+B and 203A+B. We had planned on spending most of our time at the water but didn’t do much research. This was not the campground for that. Highly recommend going to Sandy Beach or any of the cove campgrounds if you plan on swimming. Watch out for high winds.

    Can’t believe this is free

A full campground with spots, tables, trash, pit toilets, and water spigot all free. Gate is open 8am to 8pm, despite what it says online there are no reservations, just first come first serve. I called to check availability, but we were one of the only cars there a Monday night in June.

I had a great overnight stay.

There are only a few places to stay in this town and I was relieved on how safe and clean this facility was. Very nice pull through sights and the bathrooms were extremely clean. Dog park right across the street and big rig friendly. This is a smaller place but very easy to maneuver around no matter what size. Loved the grass at each site. Well taken care of and they paid attention to details making it perfect to stay. Definitely a great place for family or Solo Traveler.

    A bit noisy, but convenient

Well, the traffic was noisy, but the bathroom was clean. There are picnic tables and little grills situated for public use which was nice, and a grocery 3 minutes away. However, there seemed to be lots of local use of the park, which wouldn’t bother me normally, except for the lack of consideration that people may be trying to sleep in their vehicles. As of my stay, camping was prohibited on the grass due to a drought, so tent camping was out. But it was free with a two-night stay maximum, and some trees even provide shade!

Not bad for a Free spot in Town

Arrived and was the only camper there until after dark. Gravel parking lot with access to the river, but in a built-up part of town. Restrooms were clean, but we're apparently locked at some point at night as I couldn't access it in the morning. I think homeless folks may go there for showers, etc.

Ok if just want a place to sleep for a night

Staff is extremely friendly. I took a shower immediately upon arrival and it was not a good experience. There were 3 stalls for women with no shower curtains covering each stall. Only 1 stall actually worked (barely). It took up to 7 minutes for the water to get warm and the pressure was a trinkle at best. I could not wash my hair because I would never get the soap out. Parking pad is dirt and weeds. Limited picnic tables. No fire pits. No propane. The train is across the road and loud horns. The last train we heard was 10p and it rain approximately every 40 minutes. Cash only to pay for site-$45 for 30 amp. The sunset was beautiful.

    Small campground for the night

Not the best campground we’ve ever been to, but seemed pretty quiet with only 3 other spots taken while we were there. Fairly close together if you’ve got neighbors but also some walk in sites for tents which were a little further down from the main sites. Small creek closeby on the trial about 2 mins from the campground so we were able to wash off. There was a spigot in the campground but you pump it, it came out yellow at the beginning so make sure you pump it well before using - we boiled it when it became clearer anyway just to be sure. Would not recommend getting to this campsite from the south roads/ unpaved if you have anything less than a 4WD. We nearly didn’t make it to tell the tale with our 2WD. Dirt & paved roads from the north were better but still keep in mind they’re dirt/ gravel.

The perfect stop on our way West

A great place for a night or two on your road trip. Gravel parking area with water and electric hoop up. $17 for electric and $34 for water and electric. The plug-in is at the front of the site, so our cord did not reach if we backed the camper (33ft) and truck all the way in. The shower house is nothing fancy but was clean (aside from all of the mosquitoes). Staff were very friendly.

    Nearby city park

The office building has convenient amenities, boasting well-maintained men's and women's bathroom/shower rooms, as well as a set of 4 washers and 4 dryers- all of which made my stay even more comfortable. The camper hook ups were a breeze, with flawless water, electric, and sewage connections.

I especially appreciated the concrete slab next to my camper, perfect for grilling, playing bag toss, or simply relaxing in chairs. The location couldn't have been better- nestled right by the city park, I felt the location was perfect.

Being close to Deer Creek added a touch of nature to the experience. I noticed ongoing improvements, such as the replacement of gravel sites and the addition of new cement slabs, truly showing a commitment to enhancing the RV park. The presence of shade trees was nice, and the adjacent city park, complete with a dog park, was a fantastic bonus.

    A bit tight

Although it was affordable for our 25 foot 5er, we barely fit in our assigned spot length wise. We parked the truck beside the camper which took up most of the outdoor space. The water tastes a bit funny even after our filter system. We stayed twice, coming and going so not a horrible place but also not a destination campground.

    Wet trip

Campground is a 5. Experience was a 3 due to rain 75% of the time I was there. No one else there first night. 2nd night was a young man who was trying to get out before dark. He got stopped by herd of cows and returned. Dirt road in is mostly sand, but several sections get muddy and greasy with rain. It has been abnormally wet this year and it looks like most people are skipping this campground due to accessibility. I would not recommend a sedan when wet. Vault toilet was clean and well supplied. Forest road trees were being trimmed back.

    Recommended for boating only

We stayed here one night on our way home from a long trip.  Potable water is avail close to the latrines if needed.  When we got to our site, BH-15, but we were confused b/c there was no pull through, carve out or any other markings other than a sign that said BH-15.  Many other campers just put their rigs wherever they wanted.  Our site had ankle deep weeds throughout.  4 dumpsters were actually overflowing with garbage and smelled awful.  The latrines were in as bad of a shape as the dumpsters, flies and filth everywhere.   We've stayed at many WY state parks and this was the worst.  Will not be back.  I'd rather Walmart 'camp'.
