Bennett Hill Campground — Glendo State Park

Boaters and anglers heading to Glendo Reservoir will find Bennett Hill Campground positioned along the lake's shoreline with direct water access. This Wyoming state park campground accommodates RVs up to 275 feet across 43 sites, with three offering electrical hookups. The boat ramp provides easy lake access, while a fish cleaning station serves those targeting the reservoir's walleye and trout populations.

Sites spread across open terrain with minimal shade, giving campers unobstructed views of the water and surrounding hills. Each site includes a picnic table and fire ring, though fire restrictions may apply seasonally. The campground provides vault toilets, potable water near the facilities, and an unusual amenity—loaner life jackets for water activities. A few covered shelters with grills offer protection from Wyoming's frequent winds.

Access requires navigating what reviewers describe as rough roads, and some visitors report confusion finding the campground initially due to limited signage. Site boundaries can be unclear, with Matthew J. noting "there was no pull through, carve out or any other markings other than a sign." Maintenance standards vary, with some visitors encountering cleanliness issues while others find adequate conditions.

For those exploring the broader region, Waters Point — Glendo State Park sits less than a mile southeast along the same shoreline. Bennett Hill works best for self-sufficient campers prioritizing lake access over polished amenities.

Many mentioned poor maintenance with overgrown weeds and dirty facilities overshadowing the campground's spacious sites and basic amenities. Several guests observed management issues including inadequate directions and unclear site markings.

Recommended for boating only

We stayed here one night on our way home from a long trip.  Potable water is avail close to the latrines if needed.  When we got to our site, BH-15, but we were confused b/c there was no pull through, carve out or any other markings other than a sign that said BH-15.  Many other campers just put their rigs wherever they wanted.  Our site had ankle deep weeds throughout.  4 dumpsters were actually overflowing with garbage and smelled awful.  The latrines were in as bad of a shape as the dumpsters, flies and filth everywhere.   We've stayed at many WY state parks and this was the worst.  Will not be back.  I'd rather Walmart 'camp'.

Convent and near boat ramp

Bennett Hill Campground has 3 electric hook ups and 40 non electric sites. The campground has a water spigot, a fish cleaning station, 2 vault toilets, a few shelters with grills and a boat ramp. Each site has picnic bench and a fire ring even thou there is a fire ban at the moment. Sites are spread out so you don’t feel like you are on top of each other. One unique thing is they have loaner life jackets to use for boating or swimming or water activities.

Not a Good Experience

By far the worst run state park we have visited in our 70k miles of RVing. The greeter at the front gate gave us no directions & no map. We wasted an hour looking for the elusive Bennett Hill campground. Finally got a park ranger in the phone and he directed us back to town. Once we finally found our spot, we found it soiled with someone’s dog poop. Really? The one dump station for the whole park is across from the ranger station which means back tracking several miles. The spot we were in, BH02, is listed as electric only, but in fact has water as well. Just another example of how poorly run this park is. It’s very windy, dirty, lacks privacy and we definitely are checking it off as a one time visit place. Disappointing as we love to camp near water which is what drew us in.

Bennett Hill

we stayed in a 36 foot 5th wheel in site 1. It is only one of two sites in Bennett Hill with electricity. Nice, roomy pull through site.

Frequently Asked Questions

What amenities are available at Bennett Hill Campground in Glendo State Park?

Bennett Hill Campground offers a mix of electric and non-electric sites. The campground features 3 electric hookup sites and approximately 40 non-electric sites. Amenities include potable water spigots near the latrines, two vault toilets, a fish cleaning station, and a boat ramp for lake access. Each site comes equipped with a picnic bench and fire ring (though fire bans may be in effect seasonally). Several shelters with grills are scattered throughout the campground. Limited electric hookups are available, so reserving early is recommended if you need electricity for your RV or camping setup.

Is Bennett Hill a good camping location in Glendo State Park?

Bennett Hill offers a mixed camping experience. The campground provides spacious sites including some pull-through options that accommodate larger RVs (up to at least 36 feet). The campground's proximity to water activities is a plus for boaters and anglers. However, navigation can be challenging as some visitors report difficulty finding the campground due to limited signage and directions. Site identification can also be confusing as some spots lack clear markings. For those seeking electric hookups, options are very limited with only 3 available sites. Overall, it's best suited for self-sufficient campers who value space and don't mind basic facilities.

What does Bennett Hill Campground at Glendo State Park look like?

Bennett Hill Campground features a spread-out layout with sites distributed across the area, offering good spacing between campers. The sites are fairly primitive in appearance with limited development – many don't have clearly defined parking areas other than a numbered sign. Each site includes a picnic table and fire ring. The natural setting includes some shelters with grills scattered throughout the grounds. The campground provides lake access via a boat ramp. Facilities are basic, with vault toilets rather than flush restrooms. The overall aesthetic is rustic and typical of a state park camping experience with minimal infrastructure but access to natural surroundings.
