Within Glendo Reservoir State Park, Two Moon campground sprawls across hundreds of wooded sites, making it the largest camping area in this Wyoming state park system. The Wyoming Department of Parks and Cultural Resources manages this established campground, which sits elevated above Glendo Reservoir on forested terrain. Paved roads wind through the sites, though access can be rough depending on conditions.
The campground's massive scale creates a distinctly different atmosphere from smaller park areas. johny R. notes it has "a very nice nature feel to it" despite being the most populated option, while other reviewers describe walking the expansive grounds. Sites tucked among the trees offer dry camping, while others provide electrical hookups. The elevation means campers look down at the reservoir rather than having direct water access, though a boat ramp sits about a mile away.
Multiple hiking trails branch out from the campground into the surrounding landscape. Mountain biking opportunities abound, and the elevated position provides expansive views across the water. Lisa M. found "lots of great hiking trails" during her stay. Cell service reaches 1-3 bars for Verizon users, and multiple restroom facilities serve the large camping area.
The $10 nightly rate includes access for out-of-state visitors, though additional fees apply for electrical sites and vehicle permits. Reservations are available through the state park system. The campground accommodates RVs up to 200 feet and provides ADA accessibility, dump stations, and allows campfires at designated sites. A playground serves families, though some reviewers note its condition varies. For those preferring smaller, less populated camping experiences, Shelter Point — Glendo State Park and other park campgrounds offer different atmospheres within the same recreation area.
Description
Two Moon is Glendo’s oldest campground, and can be accessed from I-25 by making your way through town to Glendo Park Road, and following Glendo Park road for about 4 miles, until you see the signs for Two Moon Campground. There are three entrances that will take you into the campground. It is situated within a pine forest, on a bluff which overlooks the lake. While there is no direct water access from Two Moon Campground, the Marina Boat ramp is a short 3/4 mile jaunt away and there is a small, but popular day use beach near the Marina, which can be accessed through Shelter Point Campground. Two Moon does have a trailhead, which gives hikers and bikers access to a large section of our non-motorized trail system, including a fairly easy-going trail which encircles the campground, and provides some beautiful views of the reservoir and dam. Two Moon also has three yurts, which are available for reservation year-round. Please check out our page on the yurts here for more information. Because of its age, much of Two Moon is built to accommodate smaller camping units (27 feet or less) and tents. We encourage visitors with larger RVs and fifth wheels to use the campground’s electrical sites and/or most of the campsites along the side of the campground closest to Glendo Park Road; the access road to the campsites farther back is narrow and winding, and most of those sites are too small to accommodate such camping units. Because Two Moon has such extensive amenities, and is relatively close to the park entrance, it is our most popular campground during the Spring, Fall, and Winter, though it recently has been an immensely popular summer destination as well.
