Best Campgrounds near Boulder, WY

Stayed at site #5 on Sept 16, 2024. Paid $42.90. Made reservation over the phone. Normally don't camp in RV parks with our camper van, but it was getting late and needed an overnight place to stay with very few options available in the area. The stay was okay; probbaly won't stay here again. Sites were close together. The campground has water and electric hookups; worked just fine. No reastroom/shower house; told that these amaneities are planned. Campground is a typical RV park with sites close to each other with no privacy. It is in a large flat open field. Some young trees were planted. Campground road and site driveways were gravel. I believe all of the sites are back-in. A few long term residents appear to be staying there in their big rigs. One of these residents, who was close behind us, woke us up at 4:20am when he started up his loud pickup truck and let it run for several minutes before departing (IMO, not good campground etiquette). Other than that, no complaints. Being a van camper, I'm nuetral about this campground. It satisfied my immediate needs at the time (simple overnight stay).

Only stayed a night, got in at 9pm and left around 8am. Peaceful and quiet with no one else around. No mice, just some moths. Had some great views when the sun came up! Also great fishing at the reservoir!

Long dirt road with lots of trails leading to nice spots. The road and most of the campsites are fit for large RVs. Most spots have shade and fire rings. I came in late July and there were lots of motorcycles and ATVs. It was quiet from 7 PM to 7 AM.

This place was clean and leveled gravel parking spots. Very peaceful green grass. Bathroom is centrally located. Hot showers and nice size stalls.

Our site was amazing right by the river. Good hiking and mtb trails right nearby. Busy road with paving going on. Toilet was lesser well maintained.

This area is a wide open no shade glacial pothole lake. There are free designated, kind of, campsites around the lake. Couple places to launch a boat and four vault toilets scattered around. No trash dumpsters, no water, but fair to good cell signal depending on your location. Only a few miles outside of Pinedale on nice graded gravel roads. 14 day camping limit is posted.

Great free camp site. You’re allowed to stay up to 3 days at a time and have toilets right next to the site. Super close to the city and wild iris climbing area

We arrived at night and found a spot pretty easily. The next morning, we tried to venture outside and the mosquitos were coming in thick swarms. We ran back to the camper trying to avoid the ridiculous amount of cow patties. The dogs were snatching the dried ones up as we ran further exacerbating the trauma. 😂. Our one dog fell 10 feet into the Reservoir because the edges are not sturdy. We had a hard time getting him out as the walls are straight up. We were afraid he was going to get sucked into the spillway. Needless to say, go further than we did if you want to stay here. Not sure what it is like, but it's bound to be better.

The fishing is great up there. Just make sure u have your rez pass, cuz they'll hassle you about it when they're drunk and in a pack...

It took me about 90 minutes once I hit the unpaved portion of the road. Very rough. Averaged about 5 to 10 mph. I have a 4x4 van. I did see a Subaru coming the other way. Would not want to travel this road if it was wet and muddy.

However, the campground and surrounding area are beautiful. Lots of hiking nearby around the lake and into the Winds. The sites are fairly private and spread out. The clean vault toilets are like little log cabins. There was only a handful of sites occupied while I was there in mid-October.

We staying in Lander city park with many other travelers. The parking lot is large enough to maneuver a large rig. Nice walk to downtown.

The very long gravel road to get here is terrible but 100% worth it! Doable in a 2WD but recommend 4WD. The campsites are semi private and there is lots so dont be worried! The surroundings are beautiful and the lake is a short walk which is nothing less of stunning. Would definitely revisit.

Great alternative to Popo Agie state park just a mile up the road. We have a 24 ft class C and there were multiple sites that accommodated us. 2 trail heads in the campground and a bridge over the waterway, which is accessible.

This is a wide open dispersed location along the Green River. You might be competing with free grazing cattle, but they're respectful. It's a beautiful spot. The road in is washboard, so be patient.

We dispersed by boat launch. By ourselves on a Wednesday after labor day. Construction at east and west campgrounds. 5g cell T-Mobile. Roads only slightly muddy but after a rain. Yikes.

We got here late so it was dark and hard to navigate, our bad. The west campground had “road closed” signs and was blocked but looked like some rigs made it in. We headed over to the east side. Not sure if we stayed in an official spot or not but there was was stone fire ring. Quite a bit of trash left behind. We took it with us on our way out. Hard to find the facilities, there are many areas under construction. The view was beautiful. Lots of floating algae in the lake. Didn’t let the dogs swim just in case. Would come back in a pinch but with time, would plan to discover other areas.
Best part: the starts were amazing. There was a thunderstorm in the distance that made the sky look like a dance party. We saw an amazing moon rise!!! 😍
