Nice spot, if you like mice.

Nice area if you like mice. I always set traps out everywhere we go, caught 4 the 1st night, 7 the next. We’re leaving this rodent infested place!!

Cool view, under construction

We got here late so it was dark and hard to navigate, our bad. The west campground had “road closed” signs and was blocked but looked like some rigs made it in. We headed over to the east side. Not sure if we stayed in an official spot or not but there was was stone fire ring. Quite a bit of trash left behind. We took it with us on our way out. Hard to find the facilities, there are many areas under construction. The view was beautiful. Lots of floating algae in the lake. Didn’t let the dogs swim just in case. Would come back in a pinch but with time, would plan to discover other areas.
Best part: the starts were amazing. There was a thunderstorm in the distance that made the sky look like a dance party. We saw an amazing moon rise!!! 😍

Remote and perfect!

If you are wanting bare bones this is it. There are toilet facilities which is nice, but it’s private, spread out, yet easy to access off the main road. The lake is beautiful as well. There are lots of bugs, but overall it was still a great spot for the night.

Super private and great access to the water

Super private area with great access to the reservoir. We swam most of the afternoon. My car battery died while I was there and there was absolutely no one around - thank goodness for a man named James who worked in the area. He had jumper cables and got me out of a tough situation. There's also service by the road, just not at the individual sites.

Beautiful and bugs

Amazing spot just 5 min off the main road. Sunset over a vast flat lake with expansive flat landscapes. A beautiful horizon of the mountain range. But 24 thousands flying bugs around the car. Definitely doing car sleeping and not tent.

Kiteboarders Dream

I love this spot. I live in Jackson, WY, and come to kiteboard here all the time in the summer.  Good thermal wind you can rely on in the afternoon, wild horses, and a view of the Winds. Pretty remote and I am usually the only one here. If you are a kiteboarder and want to ride look me up!

Okay Pit Stop

The road to get out there was washboard. There was an active construction site around the reservoir and parts of the road were closed. We saw a handful of other campers and the construction workers stretching in the morning. Tons of bugs. That said, sunset was pretty & there was a lot of space!

Great for a quick stop

This site is conveniently off of 191, and was just what we were looking for as we stopped for a night on our way to Yellowstone. Gravel road was in good shape - a little washboardy in places, plenty of level sites, some with fire rings and tables. A few vault toilets that were clean and well-stocked. The sunset was great! As other reviewers have said, it is buggy. Nothing that bites-just make sure you keep your tent or vehicle closed for a more enjoyable experience. Right by the water, too!

Loved this spot so much! Sunsets!

Endless camping opportunities here. Before you cross the bridge there is an opportunity to turn left and camp on the west site of the reservoir. We cross the bridge and continued past the campground entrance, if you keep driving you will find spots along the reservoir with fire pits and tables and bathrooms. If you are over landing there are entrances to drive down to the beach where you can set up wherever you want. Very quiet, beautiful sunsets. Lots of small bugs and moths but nothing biting.

Beautiful sunset

Seemed like there were plenty of spots for campsites and RVs. The gravel road was well maintained. It was EXTREMELY windy but it had calmed down by the time the sun had began to set. The walk along the water was beautiful and we had found some incredible rocks. The sunset and the stars at night are definitely the worth the visit.

Beautiful

There are many types of camping areas with a variety of ground. This beach area was beautiful. We were greeted with a huge herd of sheep one afternoon. Lots of wildlife. Very windy but it’s Wyoming; about 11am-dusk. Lots of great rockhounding in the area. BLM land; so 14 day limit. Would definitely return.
