    Mountain Bluebird RV Park

    Van camper overnight stay

Stayed at site #5 on Sept 16, 2024. Paid $42.90. Made reservation over the phone. Normally don't camp in RV parks with our camper van, but it was getting late and needed an overnight place to stay with very few options available in the area. The stay was okay; probbaly won't stay here again. Sites were close together. The campground has water and electric hookups; worked just fine. No reastroom/shower house; told that these amaneities are planned. Campground is a typical RV park with sites close to each other with no privacy. It is in a large flat open field. Some young trees were planted. Campground road and site driveways were gravel. I believe all of the sites are back-in. A few long term residents appear to be staying there in their big rigs. One of these residents, who was close behind us, woke us up at 4:20am when he started up his loud pickup truck and let it run for several minutes before departing (IMO, not good campground etiquette). Other than that, no complaints. Being a van camper, I'm nuetral about this campground. It satisfied my immediate needs at the time (simple overnight stay).

    Lander City Park

    thank you Lander ...

... for this just wonderful spot! Clean, shady, and quiet next to a small river and within walking distance to the downtown district with great restaurants and bars. And it's free for 3 nights (donations welcome). Flat gravel spots for several even large RV's, most with picnic tables, restrooms, and huge grassy areas for tents as well.

Popo Agie Campground — Sinks Canyon State Park

Riverside nooks in a state park adjoining national forest - a hiking and cl

I was looking to avoid Yellowstone because I’m traveling with a dog. I looked for national forest land that would take me around. Sinks Canyon State Park was perfectly placed so we headed here. The visitor center was very helpful and pointed us to a few camping options. I asked which one the ranger preferred and he went to Popo Agie right away.

The campground is right on the road - 20 feet over and 20 down. However the road only goes to the state park and into national forest. The roar of the river (20 feet to the other side) masks the minimal vehicles.

Augie, the camp host, immediately waved me over. We talked about my teardrop and his bus conversion. He pointed to the last two spots with shade. One was taken so I took site 5.

The site is a straight paved line. There is a wood chip square for a tent. The fire pit and picnic table are on a gravel pad. Just beyond that is the river. What a wonderful sound to relax to!

There is a group camp closer to town and another state park campground further down the road. Is those are full, national forest campgrounds are further on but the pavement ends. There are yurts interspersed with the campsites. Vault toilets and garbage/recycling bins are nearby. Water is down the entrance road in one central location.

Hiking trails start across the bridge in camp. You can also drive down the road and find more challenging routes. A playground is by the group site.

An interesting discovery is to see where the river sinks into the ground and then reappears a quarter mile down the mountain. Dye tests show it takes 2 hours to go the distance - leaving speculation as to what happens in between. The heat was in during the day - 97 in town and a few less in camp. It cools down to the 50’s overnight. The sites have diverse configurations. This is a great place - just get a site with some shade.

    Fremont Lake

    Beautiful views and aimple facilities

This was a basic campground with access to hiking trails and also not far from the ski resort where there are downhill mountain bike trails. Pit toilets and no running water. Very little verizon service

    Boulder Lake

    End of the Road

Literally the end of the road. Near a lake, The sites are surrounded by aspens. There is no water but there is a vault toilet. Even though it is near a small lake it is quiet, There are pull through and back in sites for RVs. Sites are good size. Fire rings and bear storage boxes are available.

Sinks Campground — Sinks Canyon State Park

    Winter Amazing

We have stayed in the Sinks yurt system many times, but winter is our favorite. There is electricity, spotty internet and a heater you can turn on. 10 below zero outside and we keep it at about 45-50 deg inside. Super clean, very well maintained. You are required to clean well before you leave. Sleeping on mattresses/bunks or fold out futon mattress. Also inside is a small table and chairs, pine carved furniture. Broom, mop, cleaning supplies are provided. When we have stayed in Winter, no other soul is there. The park plows and shovels before your arrival. The Milky Way is spectacular on a clear night. Photos below are both winter and summer. In the summer, you can hear rocks and boulders rolling in the Popo Agie River (Pronounced "Puh- Po Shuh" (two words). There are 4 yurts that sleep up to 6, and one very large yurt that sleeps 12. Picnic tables, pit toilet, fire ring, trash bin nearby. In the winter, bring your own wood. Many good hikes in summer and a few trails to XC ski or snowshoe in the winter.

You can shower at the city pool on 9th Street for a small fee.

    Elkhorn RV Park

    No dump station

We stayed one night. $50 Didn’t realize it was electric only. No full hookup. No trash dumpster available. Water was where you had to haul to camper. The area around store and bar was very cluttered and unkept. The scenery around the mountains was gorgeous and it could be a nice place! The spaces were gravel we had plenty of room for our fifth wheel RV 3 slides but if it would have been full not sure our truck would have fit in our space. Our TMobile worked well there but we also use Starlink for internet and TV which has been great!

    Half Moon Lake Campground

    Love this place!

This is an absolutely beautiful place to camp. Sites are reservable and it does fill up. They have both pull through and back in sites. Sites have picnic tables and fire rings. All sites are close enough to walk to the lake. You will need your bug spray. There is a boat dock just up the road from the campground. The lodge has cabins and a bar/restaurant but you can’t count on it being open. The campground provides toilets and garbage. It is just close enough to town that it isn’t a big deal to run and get what you need.
