      Super campground!

Great location close to many things yet far enough to feel quiet and peaceful. Great owners always have fun stuff going on for everyone and our dog loves the dog park!

      Wisconsin Dells KOA

Good campground for families with kids

A central playground and pool are the biggest draws for families with kids. There's also a prospecting 'sluice' that you can buy for the kids to look for 'fossils' and interesting rocks.

The campground is located just north of the main attractions of Wisconsin Dells.

Campsites are not overly generous in size -- typical KOA, where some are 'stacked like cordwood'. Don't go there if you want any privacy from your neighbors.

Cabins are available for those wanting to 'camp' without a camper.

      Very small dog park area.

Friendly check in staff. However, we were given a map with our campsite noted and told to wait for a person driving a golf cart to escort us and help us get situated. We waited...and waited...and waited...golf carts came and went, but passed us by. We finally gave up waiting and found out site by ourselves.

      Ho-Chunk RV Resort & Campground

Convenient RV Stay Near the Dells

Ho-Chunk Gaming Wisconsin Dells RV Park is a nice option if you want an easy RV stay close to the casino and Wisconsin Dells attractions. I like that it feels convenient and low-hassle, with full hook-up sites, Wi-Fi, showers, laundry, a playground, pet area, and access to some hotel/casino amenities.

Pros: great location, full hook-ups, convenient amenities, close to entertainment.

Cons: it is more practical than scenic, and it is RV-only, so no tent camping.

Overall, it’s a good pick if you want a comfortable RV base near the Dells instead of a rustic campground.

      Glacier Valley Campground

      Fun place

Nice, clean, well maintained campground with something for everyone. Swimming pond is huge with toys for everyone. You can bring your own pool toys. Sites are decently spacious and decently level with some gravel and some grass. Bathhouse is nice & clean. Office/store has some logo goodies as well as any necessities you may need. They had a beer tasting going on, live music at the pavilion- both on a Saturday during our stay. A couple trails around for walks with dogs & a dog park. Lively campground during the day but nice & quiet at night with quiet hours being 11pm-8am.

      nice clean quiet

My first time at a campsite and new to the rv life. This campground is nice and so are the employees grass gets cut every week, the pool is clean, so is the dog park, my husband likes going to the camp bathroom for a hot shower because our rv only has 10 gallons of hot water. We did 3 months at the camp!

      Rocky Arbor State Park Campground

Wooded, beautiful, and secluded but nearby the Dells!

This park gives the option of both tent and camper sites. Many of the sites are separated from others by some space and numerous trees, tucked back away in the pine forest. The secluded nature gives it the feel of a National Park with beautiful stretches of pine and rocky ledges. Most sites are quiet, with only the slightest hum of the interstate in the background (although a couple may be loud, so beware which site you book). Staff is friendly and helpful, firewood is available at the park. Many pit toilets are available, as well as running water/showers. Playgrounds are also in the park, a pet area, water fill up station, some trails (nothing much for hiking). Very very close to the Dells as well! Mosquitoes are terrible during the summer, but that’s to be expected anywhere in Wisconsin.

      Duck Creek Campground

      Great place for the kids

The staff here was extremely friendly.  We did not spend a lot of time at the campground since we were there for the Dells on a long trip from Atlanta, GA to Duluth, MN.  The kids did have a blast in the pond and there is a really nice dog park that our pup enjoyed.  There is also a restaurant on site and a small bar down by the pond that were both closed while we were there (we came in after 4th of July weekend and they were taking some time off after the holiday) but seem like they would be great amenities.  We would definatley stay again if going to the Dells (about 30 min away).  Also, do yourself a favor and stock up at the Lodi Meat Market!

      Cute campground - near Madison

We were in Site# B1. We had Full hook- up with a gravel pull-thru. We travel towing a 14 foot trailer and were able to fit both in our pull through site. My jeep though did not fit. The site was easy to level.

Our site was shaded with lots of trees. This was a larger sized lot with our neighbors not too close (but we did choose a premium site with a patio and paid extra to be on the end).

This specific lot comes with a concrete patio The lot comes with a picnic table and fire hole in the ground.

They have a community Outdoor kitchen-y area with picnic tables.
They do not provide garbage service at your site so you must walk to garbage dumpster.

You are allowed to ride personal golf carts. There is really not a need to have a Golf cart because it is a smaller campground.

They do have a Swimming pool.
There is a Playground. They also offer horseshoes and a volleyball court.

They have a great general store.

The streets are gravel so not great for riding bikes but there are great places to ride bikes outside of campground, especially around Middleton and Madison.

They have cabins for rent and tent areas.

They have one shower house. The shower house has the typical stalls. These are kept mostly clean.

There is a laundry facility. It is a cash only facility, but they have a change machine.

They have a fenced in dog park and many grassy areas to walk dogs.

There were no trails to hike in the campground.

Some fun things to do outside of the campground are the Saturday Farmer’s Market in Madison and multitude of bike trails.

    Guide to Montello

Nestled in the central Wisconsin region, Montello sits amidst glacial lakes and wooded terrain with sandy soil at an elevation of around 800 feet above sea level. The camping season typically runs from mid-April through mid-October with summer temperatures averaging 70-85°F during the day. Thunderstorms can develop quickly in summer months, requiring campers to secure equipment properly.

    What to do

Fishing opportunities: Buffalo Lake Camping Resort provides access to fishing on Buffalo Lake where campers can catch a variety of fish. "Boats are allowed for easy access at the public boat launch," notes reviewer Kim L.

Visit local Amish communities: Local Amish businesses offer unique shopping experiences within short driving distance. "A lot of Amish in the area with greenhouses (we got all of our summer flowers from them). A few bakeries-go early! Wood working stores, buggy shops and etc. Search Amish greenhouses on the web, you can print a map of all Amish in the area," shares Tammi J.

River adventures: Indian Trails Campground offers kayak and canoe trips down the Fox River. "They do kayaking or canoeing down the fox river. They will drop you off and pick you up," explains Mikala D., highlighting their shuttle service.

Mini-golf and arcade games: Several campgrounds provide onsite entertainment options beyond swimming. Indian Trails has "plenty of activities for kids and adults galore" according to Lynn N., including mini-golf and arcade options that provide entertainment during inclement weather.

    What campers like

Clean facilities: Wilderness Campground maintains high standards for bathrooms and common areas. "Lots to do- swim in ponds with floatables, heated pool, jumping pillow, playground, great organized activities! Strict with rules, as a good thing," explains Gayle S.

Swimming options: Glacier Valley Campground features an impressive swimming area. "Swimming pond is huge with toys for everyone. You can bring your own pool toys," notes Annette I., with Heather H. adding it has "a huge fresh water pool with inflatables!"

Seasonal activities: Campgrounds in the Montello area host themed weekends and special events. Indian Trails provides "fun outdoor movies for the kids" according to Mikala D., while another visitor mentions their Halloween weekends are particularly popular.

Pet-friendly amenities: Dog owners appreciate the pet-accommodating facilities. Glacier Valley offers "a couple trails around for walks with dogs & a dog park," according to Annette I., making it a standout among dog friendly campgrounds near Montello.

    What you should know

Campsite selection matters: Choose sites based on your needs for shade, size, and privacy. At Lake Arrowhead Campground, Kevin C. recommends getting "a corner site close to showers and bathrooms" for convenience with families.

Quiet hours: Most pet-friendly campgrounds in the Montello area enforce quiet times from 11pm-8am. Annette I. notes that Glacier Valley has a "lively campground during the day but nice & quiet at night with quiet hours being 11pm-8am."

Local treats: Sunday morning donut sales are popular at several campgrounds. At Indian Trails, they have "amazing homemade donuts Sunday mornings" and "a cute little penny candy shop" according to Mikala D., providing special treats for families.

    Tips from RVers

Site dimensions: Most pet-friendly campgrounds near Montello can accommodate mid-sized RVs, though site sizes vary. At Wisconsin Dells KOA, Jeff G. notes it's a "small clean park" with "super tight sites" but they're well-maintained.

Hookup access: Check hookup locations when booking to ensure compatibility with your RV setup. "For a family with a camper, there are full hookups or water and electricity with flat gravel pads," explains Kim L. about Buffalo Lake Camping Resort.

Leveling considerations: Many sites require minimal leveling. "The sites are very small, but overall paved and level so you will have a quick set up," notes Kim L. about the Wisconsin Dells KOA, which is convenient for RVers wanting an efficient setup process.

Access roads: Some campgrounds have narrow access roads. Consider your RV size when booking at smaller, wooded campgrounds to ensure you can navigate turns and site approaches.
