Best Campgrounds near Stockholm, WI

Stockholm and the surrounding Lake Pepin area feature a mix of established campgrounds along the Mississippi River with varying levels of development and amenities. Stockholm Park Campground provides boat access to Lake Pepin with electric hookups and allows tent, RV, and glamping accommodations. Nearby, Hok-Si-La City Park offers tent-only sites and cabin rentals with water views. The region encompasses both Wisconsin and Minnesota sides of Lake Pepin, with options ranging from primitive tent sites to full-service RV parks with sewer hookups and showers.

Campgrounds along Lake Pepin typically operate from April through October, with limited winter availability. "Small nicely maintained campground along the Mississippi River with great views and boat launch. The town of Stockholm is an easy walk with restaurants, baker, gift shops, and art gallery," noted one visitor about Stockholm Park. Several campgrounds require advance reservations, particularly for weekend stays during summer months. Train tracks run adjacent to some campgrounds, including Stockholm Park, potentially creating noise disturbances. Most developed campgrounds provide drinking water and toilets, though shower availability varies by location, with Hok-Si-La requiring quarters for shower use.

The waterfront setting dominates the camping experience throughout the region. Lake Pepin, a naturally wider section of the Mississippi River, creates scenic shoreline camping opportunities with water recreation access. A camper described Hok-Si-La as "a great site a few hours outside of Minneapolis where 2 of my closest friends hosted their wedding. The campsite is really beautiful with lots of great walking paths and a beach area where you can swim in the river." While some campgrounds allow vehicles at campsites, others like Hok-Si-La require parking in designated lots, with walk-in access to tent sites. The mixed-use campgrounds typically accommodate a range of camping preferences, from primitive sites to those with electrical hookups, though many restrict generator use to maintain a quieter environment.
