Haycreek Valley Campground

SUMMARY PRESENTED BYT-Mobile

Reservations are available at Haycreek Valley Campground, a drive-in facility about ten minutes from downtown Red Wing along rolling terrain in southeastern Minnesota. Sites are level and described by reviewers as plentiful, with electric and water hookups on hand. One important note for RV travelers: despite what some listings indicate, the campground does not have sewer hookups at individual sites. A dump station is available, with pumping offered for a fee.

Site layout can be inconsistent. At least one reviewer found that the utility post was positioned on the wrong side of the rig, requiring a 30-foot extension cord and some maneuvering to make connections work. Fire pit placement has also drawn comment, with some pits positioned close enough to rigs to be a practical concern. Asking for a specific site at booking is worth the extra step.

The campground has a bar and restaurant on site, along with a pool. A paved bike trail runs directly from the campground toward Red Wing, with tree cover providing shade along the route. Horse camping is also accommodated, with electric and water hookups and overflow space available for equestrians. "The amenities are sparse and aged, but the sites are level, plentiful, and reasonably priced," noted one reviewer. Pets are welcome. Campers wanting a waterfront alternative can look into Island Campground and Marina or Moyer Bob Island Campground & Marina, both situated along the Mississippi to the north.

Beautiful surroundings

Red Wing, Minn might be the prettiest small town in the US. Rolling hills, greenery, the Mississippi River, and genuinely nice people in a small city with lots of attractions.

The campground is about a 10 minute ride from the city center. The amenities are sparse and aged, but the sites are level, plentiful, and reasonably priced.

Be aware however…..The Dyrt is wrong. There are no sewer hookups at this campground. They have a dump station and will pump for a fee.

There is a perfectly average pub on site. The food is okay, the price is reasonable.

Outside of City but Not Far for Access

Nice campground outside of Red Wing, MN with a bar/restaurant and other features. Access to trials for bikes and horses. I stayed in the horse camp without a horse but it was a nice area.

Good for biking

Our site was rather odd as the electric and water post was on the opposite side of our camper. Our standard water hose and electrical cord wouldn’t reach so we ended up backing up the hill to get next to the water and filled our tank for the weekend. Thankfully a neighbor had a 30’ extension that we borrowed. The fire pits were located in very odd spots too - basically unusable unless you wanted to light your rig on fire. We really enjoyed the bike trail that was so close, paved and had lots of tree cover to keep us cool. Very nice ride to Red Wing right from our site! Would probably stay here again but would definitely ask for a different site. Great for biking!

Our favorite campground

We have been going to Haycreek for over 15 years for horse camping. The trails are shaded, no bugs, friendly campers and staff. They have electric and water hookups for horse campers, and they have overflow for horse campers. The trails here are amazing.
