      Osage Hills State Park Campground

They let us in for free!

We arrived here later in the day. We were here and it was chilly in November. Apparently the person working didn't anticipate any body showing up so late in the season. They were surprised and let us in for free. Its a pretty sweet camp right on the lake. 20-30 tent sites. As well as full RV hook ups.

Theres hiking, biking, and fishing in the area. We weren't really sure what to think about camping in Oklahoma and the camp site and people blew our expectations.

      Cheers!

      Riverside RV Park

      Stayed for a month

Great location, friendly staff, and very reasonable pricing. $395 for the month + electric. Laundry room on site is nice, inexpensive, and includes plenty of washer and dryers. There’s a paved walking trail right next to the campground that is well maintained and leads to the campgrounds dog park. Dog park is clean and spacious. My only thing to note is that the campground is all rock/dirt so it is very dusty, however the staff to a great job of keeping up with the area and making it a nice place to stay.

      Tulsa NE-Will Rogers Downs KOA

      Nice clean campground

Spent one night at this campground. Grounds were clean, restrooms and showers were also clean. The check in office was inviting and pleasing. We didn’t use the laundry facility while we were there, but they are available should the need arise. Bathrooms were locked and secure and passcode was required to enter. Passcode was provided upon check in. Our site was a pull through level gravel pad with full hookups. The off leash dog park was a small fenced in area with a couple of benches. Horse track and casino were well within walking distance from the camp sites. Quiet location, just off the highway. Highway could not be heard from inside our camper.

      Claremore Expo RV Park

      In town Rv lot

I wouldn’t say this is camping. The people that usually stay here are in town for events at the Expo or driving thru. There is a lot to do nearby. TWithin walking distance there’s the expo center (you can go in and pet horses) and a Rec center with a pool. You can go to Will Rogers Museum, JM Davis fun museum, RSU has a nice little hiking trail as does the Lake.

      Nice

This Campground is close to Mannford and is well-maintained. We like it because there is a marina next door that has a restaurant and a nightlife.

Dog Iron Ranch & Will Rogers Birthplace

      Gorgeous place

I grew up in Oologah and frequented the birthplace often. There’s lots of animals to pet and lots of history to learn. You can tour the birthplace for free, there’s an old barn to explore, you can go hiking, there’s horse trails as well. It’s very close to Oologah lake so you could go swimming for the day, rent seados or a boat etc. You can rent a spot for $25 to RV camp with a maximum of 3 days. You have to apply for it as well. No smoking is allowed and you can only drink past 5 pm (wine and beer only) if that’s your thing. It is such a beautiful place, rich in history and I highly recommend visiting at least once!

This campground is so beautiful. I have to be honest, we’re traveling the country and I didn’t have high hopes for liking Oklahoma. This campground has changed my mind. We haven’t even left and I’m already writing it down for us to visit again. It is beautiful here.

    Guide to Mannford

Mannford sits along Keystone Lake in Oklahoma, offering water-based recreation opportunities with over 330 miles of shoreline. The lake was created by damming the Arkansas River in 1964 and maintains consistent water levels throughout most of the year. Campsites around Mannford range from primitive lakeside spots to full hookup RV parks with varying levels of accessibility and amenities.

    What to do

Water activities at Keystone Lake: Yogi Bear's Jellystone Park features water recreation beyond standard swimming. "The wibit is extremely fun even for adults. The pool areas are very nice very clean," notes Julie H. The inflatable obstacle course provides entertainment for all ages.

Hiking trails: Around Heyburn Park, visitors can explore nature paths suitable for different skill levels. "The lake is small but great for hiking, nature watching, fishing, boating and swimming," explains Melanie W. Trails range from short lakeside walks to longer routes through wooded areas.

Fishing opportunities: Fish at Lake Sahoma, known for its trout fishing. "Lake Sahoma has very few spots to camp and they are right off the main road so cars drive by often. If you love fishing, this is the lake for you," Jennifer D. explains. Remember that specific fishing licenses may be required depending on location and species.

    What campers like

Lake views: Tall Chief Cove campers appreciate the waterfront settings. Randy S. recommends specific sites: "The best sites need to be reserved as many as 6 months in advance. Our favorite is A22 since it's right on the water with a place for a boat and great area for swimming."

Clean facilities: Campers at COE Lake Skiatook Twin Points mention the well-maintained facilities. "Bathhouse was updated and clean with individual shower stall in each of the 4 areas," notes Craig E. The upkeep makes a significant difference in comfort during stays.

Dog friendly campgrounds near Mannford: Multiple camping areas welcome pets, with Appalachia Bay offering spacious sites. "Safe, spacious, with amenities," writes Ren Q. When bringing dogs, check each campground's specific pet policies regarding leash requirements and restricted areas.

    What you should know

Reservation timing: Popular campgrounds fill quickly during peak season. For Tall Chief Cove, Randy S. advises, "The best sites need to be reserved as many as 6 months in advance."

Water hookup challenges: Some campsites have unusual water connections. At The RV Park at Keystone Lake, Neda H. notes, "The water hookup is under the ground like a water meter location, and both my husband & myself have physical limitations that prevent us from getting on our knees to reach under the ground for hookups."

Seasonal closures: Check operating dates before planning your trip. Heyburn Park operates from "April 1 to September 30," while some facilities remain open longer or year-round with reduced services.

Weather considerations: Oklahoma summers can be hot and humid. "We spent four nights here in the heat of the summer. The lake has a great swimming beach area," shares Megan B. about Sheppard Point. Spring and fall offer milder temperatures.
