Cowskin Bay South

SUMMARY PRESENTED BYT-Mobile

Waterfront sites at this free Army Corps of Engineers campground sit close enough to the lake that campers have parked directly beside the water. Sites vary considerably: some face the water with open sightlines across the lake, while others lack shade entirely. The clay banks are muddy but accessible. Cell service is reliable here, and a dumpster is on-site. The pit toilets have no doors and reviewers note they run full. Flies have been reported as a persistent issue. Bring a canopy for shade and expect the pit facilities to be basic. Nearby alternatives include Walnut Creek State Park Campground to the east and Osage Point Park to the northwest. The campground runs May through September, with RVs limited to 30 feet.

Free is free

For a free spot not bad. Dumpster, pit toilet that is a bit too full. Very oddly set up half sites don't have shade. On 4-5 water front. The view is outstanding. Good breeze. And for some reason the flies are out of control. Muddy clay banks but you can get to the water easy enough

Lakeside

I really wasn’t expecting too much from this free campsite, but I couldn’t have been happier with this location! The spaces are spread out, so you don’t have neighbors super close by (although I could hear our neighbor blasting classic rock at 7am lol). There is two bathrooms, they were both pretty gross and they don’t have doors. Still nice to have as this campsite isn’t private enough to dig a hole. The views of the lake were nice. We parked right next to the water. I had great service at this location.

I have seen negative reviews on other apps/websites saying that there are nails and glass everywhere. This was not this case with the campsite I stayed at. I also have seen a review saying this isn’t the correct location and is not open to the public. I didn’t have any issues and seemed open to the public to me.
