Perry Township Park

SUMMARY PRESENTED BYT-Mobile

Sitting right on the Lake Erie shoreline in Perry, Ohio, Perry Township Park is a small municipal campground where water access is the central draw. The park sits roughly 35 minutes east of Cleveland, with easy highway access, and several sites look directly out over the lake. Site 23, in particular, draws repeat mentions from visitors for its open sightlines toward the water and a cinder block windbreak built up around the fire pit.

The campground runs small and fills with seasonal campers for much of the summer, which means the number of sites available to transient visitors is limited on any given night. That said, walkers and late arrivals have found spots by calling ahead, and the camp hosts have a consistent reputation for being responsive and accommodating. Julius noted that hosts Rich and Deb "let us have fun with their jet ski and kayaks all for free," which speaks to the informal, low-key atmosphere here. The park also includes a playground, pickleball courts, and a pavilion where burgers and hot dogs have been available during summer visits.

Sites are tight, and tent campers should know that most of the non-RV spots are uneven. Electric hookups are available, and RVs up to 50 feet can be accommodated. A boat launch sits nearby, and the adjacent beach is accessible, though there is no lifeguard on duty. Showers and bathrooms are consistently described as well maintained. As Stacey puts it, the park is "a treat to enjoy the lake views and shoreline towns."

The campground operates from early May through late October, with nightly rates running $25 to $45. Reservations are available and worth making on summer weekends, though the park does not always fill on busy June weekends based on past visits. The nearby town of Geneva-on-the-Lake adds a destination for an evening out, and Lake Erie Bluffs sits less than two miles to the southwest for those looking to extend time along this stretch of the Ohio shoreline. Campers who appreciate direct water access and a community-park setting will find this a worthwhile stop.

Great view of Lake Erie!

Gated and private campground. You can come and go as you please 24/7 with a gate card. Secure and clean bathrooms. Laundry room. Camp store and more. Wi-Fi is available. But the view on being right on lake Erie is the best. It's a must campground, at least once.

Perry Township Park and Campground

Another pleasant stay at this campground! We had made our reservations online prior to our stay and the process was super easy. And as always, the campground host was very friendly and helpful. Unlike a lot of city parks I've been to, this one is behind a gate and the showers/restrooms have codes you're provided with during check-in, so that helps keep things safe, quiet, and clean. I still haven't used the showers here, but the separate restrooms were spotless. The park itself is nice and was busy with families enjoying outdoor activities. Everyone was also respectful during quiet hours.

Beautiful

There are many sites taken by permanent campers for the summer. There are pickleball courts in park. Right on Lake Erie, nice hot showers.

Wish we could have stayed longer!

Stopped through for 1 night with no reservation. Called and the camp host was super helpful and friendly! Got in after dinner and luckily we were just car camping, because we got (in our opinion) the best site there! 23 has a great shot of the lake, nice cinder blocks built up to block any wind from the fire pit. Didn’t use showers, but the bathrooms were well maintained! The lake view was amazing! Very quiet and small location…perfect for what we wanted for the evening. Would highly recommend!

Cozy paradise at the lake

We enjoyed the place very much. The place is managed by fabulous couple Rich and Deb. They let us have fun with their jet sky and kayaks all for free.

The place is clean and has nice playground for kids too.

The place gives off laid back atmosphere. The time goes very slowly just watching the sunset over the lake.

We spent there 3 nights (just didn’t feel like we would like to leave at all)

Can’t get any closer to Lake Erie

Small regional park on the shore of Lake Erie in a local park. The sites are tight but the location overrides being close. Electric hookup with water hoses to fill your tank. About 35 minutes east of Cleveland with east highway access. Many sites are seasonal so there isn’t s a tight community here. A treat to enjoy the lake views and shoreline towns.

Nice little spot

We arrived on a Friday afternoon and stayed 2 nights. We were a little worried about getting in on a June weekend, but surprisingly, it did not fill up. $15/night for a tent site with showers and it was a great site along the woods with a nice flat area and could still see the lake.

Best Hostess

As the others have said, this is a true hidden gem. There are very few sites that are not seasonal, but we were able to call an hour before arrival to get a site that night. There is so much here to keep you happy. Not a bad view to be had, easy access to the lake, and burgers and dogs at the pavilion.

Hidden Gem

There’s only a few sites available. The rest are seasonal sites. The campground is adjacent to the small community park and baseball fields. Very well maintained and quiet. As an added bonus it is right next to Lake Erie.

Truly a Hidden Gem!

Perry Township Park campground is exactly what campground should be: great accommodations, beautiful views, tremendous service, and easy accessibility to a lot of fun stuff :-)

Most of the tent sites (there are only a few), are pretty uneven. But the views are incredible! You are just a stones throw away from Lake Erie, a boat launch, and a private beach. There’s no lifeguard on duty, so it’s definitely everything “at your own risk.“

Quick tip: make time to swing by the nearby town Geneva on the Lake. plenty of touristy kind of stuff for those interested!
