Super clean grounds at the south edge of the Pisgah. Friendly hosts, and great hiking all around.
If you are feeling adventurous and don’t mind a dirt road, leave the campground and go north, up the hill. Five miles of gorgeous mountain switchbacks along the creek. And just when you think the road doesn’t go anywhere, you turn onto the Blue Ridge Parkway.
The sites are very clean, but the standard and RV sites are not private. If you want some privacy right on the creek bank, get Primitive site 1.
Stayed here for the weekend and Emberglow hosted a 5K. It was a great time. Great family campground. All camping sites are gravel so make sure you have some leveling blocks. They also have yurts and tree houses that look like a blast as well. Definitely will be back.
So the reviews were so amazing we had to stay here, also there weren’t a ton of availabilities in Gatlinburg. We chose a river lot that is directly in front of an arcade place and near an apt/condo building. Not a nature retreat-the pictures did appear misleading. We were able to do some laundry for about $6. WiFi never worked. Lots are very close together. Pretty expensive for what you’re getting. We paid $80 for one night.
We spent 4 nights there recently. So much to do yet so little time to get it done. Being near Gatlinburg, Pigeon Forge, The Great Smoky Mountains, Knoxville etc. , it makes for a wonderful centralized place to stay so that you can do activities to your hearts contents. Zip Lines, Shopping, Hiking, Dollywood, Kayaking. One day while there we took a 1 1/2 hour drive to Ashville NC to tour the Biltmore estate. We planned on posting some photos but quite honestly we didn't have time because of all of the other activities we had going on.
This is the highest elevation east of the Mississippi. Very great views with lots to do. Hiking, camping and more. Great place to watch the sunset and sunrise.
Nice clean rv park. Very easy to get to from I40.
Some sites are pretty close together. The sites closer to the lake have more privacy-without direct lake views. Lake is underwhelming-but still nice. Bathroom and showers are cleaned well everyday-and are heated. Book ahead-the guy said they'd been completely full since June.
The only reason for the four star rating is due to the highway noise from I-40, which is located adjacent to the campground. Otherwise, the campground is very well-kept with friendly staff and our site (deluxe pull-through with patio) was large and mostly level. Very convenient to Asheville, Waynesville and Brevard. Go see the waterfalls near Brevard, you will not be disappointed!
We loved our stay here! Highly recommend a trip here during late fall season, the weather was perfect and it wasn’t crowded. Bathrooms were very clean and easy to access.
This is a great Campground if you're not looking for a bunch of frou-frou amenities. The road is well maintained but can be very steep in places so make sure you have some tread on your tires. No garbage cans so pack in and pack out. No generators allowed. But clean campsites and plenty of toilets. There's even a primitive hot shower. The people are very friendly both the campers and the people who operate the camp. Wood is available on-site $5 for 10 pieces or you can pack your wood in. I will definitely be back.
