    Great campground

Good level site water and electric (full hook ups also available) electric box a little far from parking site had to use an extension cord. Plenty of activities and friendly staff. To early in season to use pool. Conveniently located to Boston about 30 minutes. Bring bug spray especially if it’s humid or raining

    Epsom Valley Campground

    Great private campground.

Lots of good things to say about the campground. Slow river runs by the property, big pine trees throughout, store with reasonable prices, electric and water at all the sites we saw plus for those that want it, sewer hookups. It is also only a mile from the highway. We were happy to find it and it was the other reviewed that convinced us that this was a nice stopping point on the way to Acadia NP. Owner was great, showed us our campground and ready bacon for our slot. This campground also supports long term camping and those trailers seem to be mostly in the center area. We didn't use the shirts as our trailer is self contained, but we did walk into the bathrooms and they were spotless. There are kids games and a putt-putt course.

    Nice, small campground

Pros- warm clean bathrooms Warm cinnamon buns in the am Great playground, pool and pirate ship. We were there with the Scouts and took up a huge grassy area with tents. Looks like a lot of RV’s for the long term, some pop ups, we were the only tents. Went river rafting so super convenient.

    Pillsbury State Park Campground

Very nice dog friendly state park

Pillsbury resides in a very pretty spot nestled around a lake. There are campsites that are car accesable and remote campsites only accessable by boat. Canoe rentals are available at the park. The nearest town is close enough that the first one up goes and buys Dunkin Donuts for the rest each morning.

Pillsbury Campground is described as primitive which means no hot showers, RV hookups and stuff like that. It is a perfect place to get away from all the stuff I don't really need and get a little closer to the stuff I do.

I have stayed at Pillsbury on several ocasions going back year after year.

    Pout and Trout

    Beautiful and family oriented campground

This campground is located near two beautiful disc golf courses and the reason we stayed. The campground itself was fantastic, the owner at the front building was very helpful and so sweet. Most of the residents were long term sites but very friendly. Got to talking with an employee who'd worked for 5 years there and the rules and regulations in place here keep the campground clean, friendly, and safe. They provide water, electric, showers, and septic pump trucks that come to you. The shower house was a bit old and dirty, but honestly that's the only thing I could complain about.

    Spacious Skies French Pond

Comes with a surprise French Pond

The campground has a gravel area at the sites where the fire ring and picnic tables are. Where we parked our trailer was some gravel sand and dirt. We were at the end of a lane, backing in was fine we are small, 21 feet including tongue, we fit fine. Great site across from a beach, on French Pond I’m guessing is at least 25 acres. Most of the sights are long term. Camp was pretty much full, even then it was quiet. Restroom closed to covid, some campgrounds kept them open and just cleaned more. Well no complaint here we’re self contained. Some areas could use some tidying up. Still I would gladly stay here again.

    One of the nicest

Chuck and Laura are wonderful hosts and always available to help. The campground is clean, quiet, with plenty of open sites as well as sites in the woods. Sites big enough for our 42’ 5th wheel and 2 cars. Sites in the woods have water and 50 amp service, no sewer. Most of the open sites have 30/50 amp service with full hook-ups. River view sites available. Canoe rental available. Clean bath houses, laundry, dump station gameroom, and camp store. One of the best in the area!

Quiet, friendly staff, 1pm check out

The lady that checked us in was easy to talk to, explained the campgrounds then we were escorted to our site. The site was small but a pull thru, no problems at all, full hook up. There is a nice pool just getting ready to open we are here mid, May 14th we leave. There is horse shoes, shuffle board, basketball, play ground, swimming pond, fishing stream and fishing pond. Would recommend to my family and friends gladly. Beautiful area was once a large farm. Nicely kept grounds, dry stacked stone walls can be seen though out the campground. Yes, we would stay here again.

    Keyser Pond Campground

    Not for us

This was our first time out with a camper after tenting for decades. As soon as we saw our site my heart fell. We were literally surrounded on all sides with no privacy at all. The site was small and across from the basketball hoop( not great if you want to sleep in). We walked around the campground and there appeared to be some nice tent sites, but a majority of the full hook up sites were seasonal and some looked to have been there for quite awhile and they appear to have squeezed in as many sites as possible.Lots of activities for kids. A pond that many used for kayaking and canoeing. Dog friendly, nice enough staff. The one time I used the bathroom there, it was clean and functional. I just felt like the whole weekend we were being watched and won’t go back. Others love the campground, but we like some privacy.

    Spacious Skies Seven Maples

Clean, friendly staff and fun for the kids!

We had an awesome stay at Seven Maples with our family of six and dog.

We have a 25 foot trailer and stayed in the Grove area. Our site 19 was spacious and wooded. There was a lot of poison ivy on both sides of us but the kids kept away so we weren’t worried about it. We loved being next to the large field and basketball court where we watched the kids play without having to worry where they disappeared to. The Grove and Hemlock Heights are particularly nice areas with more spacious, wooded and quiet sites. The Safari Field and more central full hook-up sites were pretty crammed. We definitely would have wanted to know our neighbors in those areas!

The campground, pool, playground and bathrooms were very clean. The pool is amazing for kids of all ages with water slides and a splash area. There’s no life guard or staff monitoring the pool area so it did get a little too crazy at times for my little ones. The playground is really big with plenty to do. There’s also a fishing pond and short hiking/biking trails.

There weren’t any extra activities for the kids as some other family-friendly campgrounds have but they did have a reasonably priced Father’s Day breakfast that was outstanding!

This is definitely a place we will return to!

    Pawtuckaway State Park Campground

    Something for everyone

Lovely wooded campground where you can swim, hike, kayak, bike, canoe, fish, boulder, geocache and explore to your heart's content. Generally large and level sites, many with water access, Make your reservation well in advance if you're planning to visit during peak season or if you want a prime waterfront site. Sites on Horse Island will cost you $5 more than those on Big Island, but many of the sites are directly on the water, making it easy to slip your boat into the lake from your site. There's a campers only boat launch on Horse Island. Much of the lake is better suited to paddle craft rather than motor boats due to it's shallow nature and rocks. The an expansive beach as well, a camp store and boat rentals.

I've had a weekend when my neighbors were playing loud music all afternoon and stumbled drunk through my campsite after dark and other weekends when it was hard to tell there was anyone around.

Driving around this past weekend I did notice that some of the sites had damp spots; site 71 was the worst with deep mud on the long approach. Site 73 is near the bath house, but it has a long approach that provides a little privacy and it's higher than the surrounding sites with water access. Sites in the 3-15 range are waterfront, but they're higher off the water. Site 43-45 are great. Those along the southern edge of Horse Island offer a more level entry. Roads are narrow and many of the site entrances are narrow with rock/tree obstructions in places that may make backing in more of a challenge to thsoe with trailers or RVs. No hookups.

The bath houses are tired, but they offer free showers. Would love to see them renovated and brightened up. Big Island also has cabins available. Phone coverage is poor (Verizon); can usually get texts out. If you want to geocache, download the info for offline use!

If you are used to camping with pets, you'll need to visit outside of peak season as they are not allowed in the campground Memorial Day to Columbus Day and never on the beach.

It has a longer season than many campgrounds in New Hampshire, running to the end of October, and you can generally get a site last minute if you're waiting on the weather and don't need/want a water site. Its proximity to Boston makes it great for a quick getaway.

    Delightful

This place is pretty awesome. They have an ice cream shop attached to their office/store, mini golf just outside of it too. There is an amphitheater for concerts and shows throughout the summer. RV Spots, tent camping spots, a dog park, badminton, basketball, horseshoe, shuffleboard, the works. The bathrooms are beautifully redone and clean. The laundry room is pretty good too. Its close to Brattleboro and Putney and just across the border to New Hampshire. I'd most definitely stay again when I'm in the area. The other guest were very nice and we could also have packages delivered.

    Good Camp ground

Mostly seasonal with a back row for short term campers. Used by a lot of offroad bikes on weekends. Great swimming pool! Spent a week plus there and had no problems with the dirt bikes and loved the pool. All sites are full hookups with several primitive tent sites.

Friendly staff, helpful, great 24' rv site

Staff assisted to guide us into our space. 25' travel trailer, full hookups. Lot 6, backs onto a little creek. Some old campers onsite that look to have overstayed due to condition. Nice to be at a non corporate campground, a few bruises, but overall great experience. Dog friendly, relaxed environment.

    Hidden Valley Campground

    Not too bad

Quick review on Hidden Valley RV Park/Campground —

Owner, I believe her name was Donna, was wonderful, welcoming & very accomodating! Pros: friendly staff, wknd campground activities to do if you’re looking for some socializing/mingling, a little pond for fishing, a pool, a bigger pond that had a little beach, quiet at quiet time (minus saturday night karaoke running a little late but it wasn’t like annoyingly loud), large campground, if you golf there’s a golf course, they have a restaurant & a nice little camp store, bathrooms were decent & free hot showers. Little swimming beach located on the grounds.

Cons: quite a bit of trash throughout the campground on the sides of sites, picnic tables were ready to fall apart, many of the tent sites had little to no separation without trees in between the sites (note-we asked for the most secluded tent site & was given a site that had a little separation), only one main bathhouse with porta potties spread out throughout campground.

Overall, a nice little spot to go camping.

    Perfect Weekend

We stayed here for two nights. It was very busy but so peaceful! Hubby and I stayed in a grassy site up against a wooded area. The sites along the river were more private and wooded but they didn’t have full hookups, water and electric yes. Very clean, friendly helpful staff. We didn’t use the bathrooms but our neighbors said they were very clean. There is tubing (bring your own) canoe and kayak rentals. Not much of a store but it does have essentials. Very pleased and can’t wait to go back!

    Seasonal or RVs only

We made reservations to hammock camp at a site here. Received confirmation of everything and was told I didn’t need to put money down. We drove all the way from Massachusetts and arrived to find out that our reservation was canceled! The lady at the counter was nice and trying to figure out and had the owner come down who turned out to be awful. He said that he was the one that canceled it because I didn’t return his phone call and didn’t put money down. When I tried to explain to him that I talked to someone on the phone two different times about the reservation he claimed I was lying! The site was open so he gave it to us but then sold us wet wood. Got to the campsite and the couple next to us said they had to sleep on the ground because the owner wouldn’t fix the electrical box that night and wouldn’t let them move to the next site over that was free. Def a campground for RVS and seasonal people only

Camp Coldbrook Golf & RV Resorts

    Worst I’ve Ever Seen

I’ve been RV camping for 5 years and this is the worst campground I’ve ever seen. We reserved it months ago and should have suspected something when they demanded payment in full up front. After a 1-hour drive, the first impression was terrible. We saw poor landscaping, the “kiddie” pool empty and in disrepair, and a golf course that looked like a cow pasture with a couple small circles mowed in it as greens. Despite our uncertainties, we checked in and we’re given site Tulip 8. We tried to follow the map that bore no resemblance to reality and could not find our site. Along the way we experienced terrible roads and saw that the park was full of 20-year old seasonal trailers covered in mold and a hodge-pudge of add-on structures. We called the office and they sent a guy to guide us to the site. He could not find it either so he led us to Tulip 3. It had a broken picnic table and a fire pit near a wood cutout of Susquatch in a nearby seasonal site. There were barking dogs penned up in front of the camper across the road. We told the guy we were leaving. We went to the office and were told there were no refunds for early departures. When we asked for a way to contact a supervisor to ask for a refund, we were given an email address that ended up being fake. Nobody who cares about their family should even consider this campground.

Hidden Valley RV and Golf Park

Family-owned campground with lots to do

This campground is 1300 acres owned and operated by the Simonsen family in Derry, NH. The main attraction of this campground is the golf course of 9 or 18 holes. There is a pro shop, golf cart rentals, etc. There are 300 camping sites with full hookups. Very reasonably priced at $40 per night. A lot of the campers are seasonal which is May - October each year. I did not see any tents there, only hard-sided units. The amenities are state of the art, clean laundry center, restrooms, bath house, grocery store, bar & grill, playground & 2 swimming beaches. We had interactions with both Drew & Lauri Simonsen (brother & Sister) during our 2 night stay. Our generator was down and we needed to pick up our friend at the airport. Lauri loaned us her minivan to go to the airport and Drew loaned us some tools to work on the RV. They were so helpful and treated us like family. The kids were given a lot of grace and hung out in the grill/game room area for hours on end to use the wi-fi. I can't say enough about the customer service here. Anyone in this area should check it out.

The campground offers RV sites, some with hookups, as well as more walk-in secluded tent sites as well as one yurt tent. The campground is peaceful and quiet, although adjacent to a very busy AFB. Proximity to the base provides access to the base exchange and other facilities, but the quiet location is a recreational retreat centered around several indoor and outdoor gathering spaces such as basketball and outdoor sports, and an indoor game and recreation room complete with crafts supplies for the kiddos and tourism info for the lical area. In the immediate vicinity are the villages of Lexington and Concord as well as the Minute Man National Park and Walden Pond, so the campground makes a great basecamp for exploration of the area’s rich culture and history. You are also not too far from Cambridge, and can easily access Boston from there if you like.

There are several clean modern bath houses, with hot showers and flush toilets. The office staff is very helpful and friendly!

    Dogs are welcome too.

    Epsom Valley Campground

    Total Gem!

In a last minute attempt to get some camping in we ended up at this little spot. First of all, as we were driving we were passing all these other campgrounds that looked pretty run down and trashed. Enter Epsom Valley. What an awesome spot!! The owners were so relaxed and friendly, the spots were pretty spacious and the rules were very relaxed.

My friend and I wanted to do a sunrise hike up in the Whites, but due to work schedules could only get a start up after 6pm. My parents were able to set up the RV and we came in around 9pm, no problems and no extra charge for me, my friend or my dog.

Our campsite was nice and level, right next to a river (with free canoe use!) and even had hammock trees.

The facilities were beautiful and clean. The only thing I would have to say is their “playground” needs a little work. I don’t have kids but I don’t think I’d let them go there if I did. It looked a little sketchy.

But my FAVORITE part was what was called the “wilderness area”. AMAZING little tent sites! They were secluded but still had full hookups. This campground truly has something for everyone and we will be back!

    Spacious Skies Minute Man

    Beautiful camping

Very easy to get into Boston by train. Level sites, quiet, and very clean restrooms make this a perfect spot for touring historic Boston, Concord, & Lexington.

    Pine Acres Family Camping Resort

    Nice resort

The good.....nice level site w gravel base, pea stone around camp, friendly staff, lots to do, clean all around. The not so good....A lot of sites are tight to get in. The lake beach could use a dredge so there is more sand (weedy). Mini golf course needs some upkeep. Overall a nice campground.

    Pawtuckaway State Park Campground

A vast sprawling forest supports 3 campgrounds

Pawtuckaway State Park has three sections: Big Island has a few good sites along and above Pawtuckaway Lake. Otherwise the Big Island campground is a ramble of inconsistent quality with many sites lacking grading and site preparation. A flat site? Dream on….One risks flooding the tent in so many of the sites.

Horse Island probably has the best sites with water views and better shore locations except for a stretch of sites such as 44; 45; 46; 47; 56;54; 53; 58; 60; 68; 62…that seem to face a residential neighborhood across a narrow cove. A very good site on Horse Island is site# 1…but, there are several reasonable choices…if you disregard level site prep.

Neals Cove has an extremely rough access road throughout the loop that needs A-Z maintenance and grading. What happens to vehicles on this road in wet seasons?

Throughout the park be wary of sites with steep driveways both up and down and poor leveling and lack of grading. My site was# 90 on Big Island; and, it was so steep that I dared not put the car on the slope when rain was threatening. I noticed that site 156 was a good ADA site and since it was vacant overnight, I parked the car there.

The campground was only about 10% full when I camped there in late September. This is a deep forest so all sites are shady.

Only 2 stars because of neglect and poor engineering throughout.
