Thousand Trails Sturbridge

Thousand Trails Sturbridge operates as a seasonal resort from April through October, accommodating RVs up to 70 feet with full hookups alongside tent camping options. The campground sits on expansive grounds that include a lake for swimming and catch-and-release fishing, plus an extensive trail system through wooded areas for hiking.

Cell service proves spotty throughout the property, as multiple campers note. "Cell reception is not great," reports one visitor, though paid wifi service provides an alternative for those needing connectivity. The campground's size works against intimacy—reviewers describe closely spaced back-to-back sites that maximize capacity over privacy, though end sites offer pull-through access.

Amenities include an indoor pool with lifeguard, dog park, arcade, and community areas. "I was probably the only person tent camping in the entire resort," notes one camper who received a hillside site away from RV sections. The facility maintains clean restrooms and showers, though some find them adequate rather than exceptional.

The location provides convenient access to Old Sturbridge Village and hiking trails throughout central Massachusetts, making it a practical base for exploring the area's historical attractions and outdoor recreation opportunities.

Many campers appreciated the extensive recreational amenities like the pond activities, pool, and dog park, along with family-friendly facilities. Common feedback included concerns about poor cell reception and cramped site layouts prioritizing capacity over comfort.

Small quiet campground

We had a great time relaxing around the campfire with another family. The playground was a hit for our kids!

Meh

It wasn’t too loud here in October. Had site B1, which was water and electric. Close to the pond. Not directly at the pond, though. There is a huge area of woods with a walking trail starting at the edge of the campground. I enjoyed stretching my legs. Cell reception is not great. Camp link Wifi for a fee is workable unless you need to do zoom calls. Lady at check-in was nice.

Not my favorite place.

Nice, yet cramped and no cell reception

I really wanted to like this place. It's in a very cool area that I didn't expect to be so awesome. First main issue was how bad the cell reception is. Normally, I'd day that's a perk for camping but we're full-timers and work on the road so it is important for us. Next, the place is massive and they are more about make money than making people comfortable. What could easily be a very nice and spacious pull-thru spot are 2 back to back back-ins. Unless you're lucky enough to get an end spot, those are pull-thru. Pros: awesome dog park, great office with laundry, activities, arcades, adult only room, community campfire, indoor pool with lifeguard, the staff is nice, there's a lake for swimming, boating, catch and release fishing. Their basketball court is on a shuffleboard court, playground is nice though. Close to Old Sturbridge Village and many cool hikes and MA cities.

Campsite

I was probably the only person tent camping in the entire resort. The manager was able to give me a great campsite away from all of the RVs and cabins. It was right at the entrance however you did have to hike up a short 50ft hill to get to the site. It had a great new fire ring and the campsite was very clean/cleared. Running showers and flushable bathroom was very close. I dinged a star from this review because I have seen campgrounds with cleaner bathrooms
