Ridiculous out of state markup

I don’t mind paying a little extra some places because of being out of state, but paying $54 a night for not even any hookups when MA residents pay $17 is insane.

Great job Massachusetts DCR

Nice campsites, nice facilities, nice forest!

Not sure I’d try a really big rig here, but our little 16’ trailer fit in great. I don’t see any pull through sites, but I didn’t seem them all.

Good campground with easy lake access

I tent camped here for a night in early July and enjoyed the stay. The camp sites were well kept though kind of light on privacy and space between campsites.

I was staying over on the way to some fishing so I didn’t full explore the park but there looked to be plenty to do.

There is a campers only beach on upper highland lake that was easy walking distance from the campsite and fishing opportunities there as well.

The main beach had a swimming area, facilities, and a trail around that looked promising for some fishing.

I’d stay here again when I have more time to explore.

Beautiful family friendly campground

Campground facilities are very clean.  Only 1 shower station which isn't always convenient. Staff is great. Something for everyone to enjoy. Wish all fellow campers with dogs would leash them at all times per the campground rules, and clean up after their dog(s).   Very family friendly. Most fellow campers respect the quiet hours, and each other.  This is our go to campground.

Quiet, wooded, SPACIOUS sites

We stayed here October 6-9 2021 as our third trip to this campground.

Site #44 is HUGELY HUGE. Seriously, you could put down three tents and a couple of campers and not feel crowded.

It's got three fire opportunities:

- Normal fire ring with adjustable grate for cooking.

- "Box on a post" style charcoal cooking device with an adjustable grate for cooking.

- BIG rock fire ring up off the dirt with a nonadjustable (bent-to-bits) grill

One of the places to setup a tent was sandy and flat. The other one had some pretty serious rocks sticking out, so we didn't use that one.

It's a bit of a hike to the bathrooms/showers/dishwashing station from this site, but we like it like that. It keeps the noise down from the slamming bathroom doors.

FREE hot showers! Only two showers for the whole camp, but there's almost no one camping in October, so there was never a wait.

Hot-water LARGE stainless-steel sing for dishwashing. NICE.

There might be bears, so there's a bear box to store all your stuff in when you are not using it. They do run dogs through the campground once a week or so to scare the poor critters away, but they say they have never had an issue in the last fifteen years, so I had zero concern about bears.

Hiking is pretty awesome from the campsite.

The hike from site 44 to the fire tower is only 0.6 miles and gets you a great view.
Hike back via the Long Trail and it's 1.6 Miles back.

Bobcat trail to the beaver dam is a great hike, but the dam is not really anything much to see, so just enjoy the hiking.

Sady, quiet with great hiking

We camped at the Daughters of the American Revolution State Forest in September of 2019 and we are returning in October of 2021.

We found the campsites clean, flat and plenty large for our camper, tent and car.

The grill grate in the firepit is ADJUSTABLE which I love for cooking over the live fire.

The bathrooms were clean and well stocked, but the hand driers were getting old and corroded, but they worked just fine for drying hands.

Hiking is beautiful and there is a fire tower you could climb to get a great view.

Great Geocaching!

We camped here as a group covering two sites. The lake was great for kayaking and fishing, although the boat launch is small and narrow so usually there is a wait to use it. The sites were a good size and in good shape. Very narrow parking areas on the sites. Rest rooms were well kept. We spent some time on the hiking trails and found plenty of geocaches, which was awesome.

FYI: This campground is in an area that has no cell reception for most carriers and there is no wi-fi.
