Best Dog-Friendly Camping near Rockaway Beach, MO

America's Best Campground welcomes pets at all accommodation types including tent sites, RV spaces, and cabins. Several pet-friendly campgrounds near Rockaway Beach provide designated dog areas for exercise and play. Cooper Creek Resort plans to add a dog park in summer, while Branson Lakeside RV Park offers walking distance access to both fenced and open dog park areas. Hide-A-Way Campground features a dedicated dog run area that receives positive mentions from guests staying multiple months. Most campgrounds enforce leash policies outside designated pet areas and may have restrictions on number of pets or breed types. The strict pet policy at Branson Treehouse Cabin & RV Park receives occasional criticism for lacking off-leash areas where dogs can play and expend energy.

Waterfront camping options with pet accommodations include Branson Lakeside RV Park along the river and Edgewater Beach Resort with lakefront RV sites. Many campgrounds provide easy access to water recreation while maintaining pet-friendly policies. Bull Creek RV Park combines 400 feet of creek access with a dedicated dog park area. Walking trails around campgrounds offer exercise opportunities for both campers and their pets. Some facilities include pet washing stations, particularly valuable after water activities or muddy conditions. Campers report that most sites have adequate space for pet containment, though spacing between RV sites can be tight at certain locations. Springfield Route 66 KOA features both a standard dog park and an indoor pet play room, providing options for pet exercise regardless of weather conditions.

Branson Treehouse Cabin & RV Park

    Quiet, Centrally Located, Large Sites

We really enjoyed our stay here! It was the week after Labor Day and was mostly vacant, making for a quiet stay. Love the amenities for kids! The only reason I give 4 stars is the dog policy— it’s very strict, and there isn’t a dog park type area to let pets off leash to play & get energy out.

    Cooper Creek Resort

Sugar Camp Lookout Tower Dispersed Area

    Peaceful Retreat

My husband and I rented our first camper van to see if short trips meant to create memories are do-able in a camper van, for us. 1000% yes.

This was our first experience and got exactly what was described. The road was bumpy but we had zero problems with our 4x4 rig.

Sunsets and sunrises were stunning!!! Great fall retreat. We even met a stray cat we wish we could have taken home with us. Poor thing is starving. She will come if calls and purrs when petted. We named her “Sugar” after the location.

There seems to be a private off-road recreation area that provided moderate traffic. We were kind of tucked back a bit from the road and it didn’t bother us.

    Branson Lakeside RV Park

Great RV park right on the river

Great atmosphere and sooo close to the Branson landing for dinner/shopping but also right on the river for a great day on the boat. Just a bit down river from Lily’s Landing (bait shop and a fun stop in for the kids to grab a snack). Walking distance to a park with play ground and two separate dog park areas (one fenced one open). Definitely an “RV PARK” nothing secluded about it if that’s what you’re looking for... very close to neighboring site and even in off season it was packed full the weekend we went. The sites along the river side had great big fire pits too.

    Springfield - Route 66 KOA

    Great Service But Smaller Sites

Of all the KOAs I have visited I was very eager to check out this one.  Close to Springfield and not to far from the turn off to Wilson Creek Battlefield this one just kinda made sense for a visit.

When I ventured to check it out I quickly noticed that the site spacing was not the best when it came to the RVs, it looked claustrophobic.   When it came to the tent sites I felt a bit more like I could breathe and stretch out.   Kind of strange that this was the case as usually the RV section at a KOA is more accommodating, in my own personal experiences.

The staff was very friendly and helpful and the overall amenities were pretty inclusive.   Some of course obvious upgrades coming at additional charges while others were standard.

In true KOA fashion there is WIFI, which I personally always welcome because I work remotely and sometimes do not have the best of signal.    Additionally they had standard features such as a dog park area, playground for the kiddos and a pool, although the pool is not open year round like some.

A few things that were a bit less common however, they had a pet play room which was pretty cool and though I don't travel with my pets found it to be a very friendly touch.    I also noticed that in addition to snacks you could pick up in the store they also had pizza during certain times if you were not wanting to use your own kitchen or the common space camp kitchens.

I was pretty impressed overall but with all the good there were those claustrophobic rv sites I just couldn't get past and the pricing of a KOA always hurts the pockets a bit more even with them being nice and the common kitchen area I was attempting to use and had a few issues, this could have been just when I was visiting so I don't want to completely hold that against them but it was having issued.

    TIPS:

    * Visit Wilson's Creek Battlefield to explore, learn and hike.  When you come to this KOA it obviously does not have any hiking, but the battlefield offers a lengthy system of trails .* Bass Pro's home is Springfield, MO so you will not only find the largest Bass Pro there but also a unique museum of all animals which is quite spectacular.

Shady Oaks Campground & RV Park

    RARE FIND - Beautiful Park

RARE FIND Such a BEAUTIFUL place! I love all the oak trees and the sounds of nature are so relaxing. They offer a spacious dog park, which the dogs are currently playing at while I relax and take in nature. If you are looking for a small piece of nature where you can get way from it all but still be close to town, this place is it. Everyone here is friendly and the shared spaces are always very clean.

They offer great rates and a Military Discount too!!

    Enjoy your stay!

    Eureka Springs KOA

    Super clean! Great place!

I couldn’t get over how clean this facility was. Very kind and accommodating staff. We stayed in a Kamping Kabin with a bunk bed and a full size bed and it was sparkling clean. The pool was sparkling clean as well. Great dog park and children’s park.

Guide to Rockaway Beach

Lakeside camping options near Rockaway Beach provide year-round accessibility with seasonal considerations. Located in the Ozark Mountains along Table Rock Lake, the camping elevation ranges from 700-900 feet above sea level, creating cooler temperatures during summer evenings compared to surrounding areas. Many campgrounds remain open during winter months with reduced services, though water hook-ups may be disconnected from November through March due to freezing concerns.

What to do

Boat rentals and fishing access: Edgewater Beach Resort offers direct lake access with boat slips available at reasonable rates. "Very spacious campsites, level gravel sites with plenty of room for rv and tow vehicles and boat trailers. Sites are on the Lake Taneycomo and have full hookups and internet. You can also get a boat slip at a reasonable price and there is a fish cleaning station at the end of the dock," notes Teresa S.

Swimming opportunities: Mill Creek Campground features designated swimming areas with additional amenities. "Mill Creek has been one of my favorite places. It's absolutely beautiful here, almost if not all of the sites have a lake view. The bathroom/shower house are very clean!" shares Brent M., highlighting the water recreation options.

Hiking trails: The area surrounding Old Highway 86 Campground provides multiple hiking options with lake views. Visitors appreciate the natural setting, with one camper noting, "Old Highway 86 is a very nice campground conveniently located to Branson. All of the lots are nicely paved and level along with many waterfront sites! Kick back, relax and watch the boats go by!"

What campers like

Private camping sites: Cooper Creek Resort offers secluded camping experiences despite proximity to attractions. "This is an amazing campground in Branson. Once you get there does not feel like Branson at all. Tucked back on Lake Taneycomo. Love this campground," says Robin R.

Year-round accessibility: Several campgrounds maintain winter operations. America's Best Campground receives positive feedback for off-season camping: "Quiet in December. Good shower and laundry facilities," reports Linda C., highlighting the benefits of winter camping.

Multiple pool facilities: Some resorts offer dual swimming pools for guest convenience. "Two pools in campground which is awesome if one is crowded go to other. Can fish off of dock for trout. Nice laundry area. Very family friendly," mentions Robin R. about their stay, emphasizing recreation options beyond the lake.

What you should know

Campground terrain considerations: Many campgrounds feature hilly layouts that may affect site selection. "Musicland has a pedestrian gate that dumps out on the strip right between titanic and a steakhouse right across from Hollywood wax museum and mini golf course. We stay on Memorial Day and Labor Day weekends and this park is close to everything, but still is easy to get in and out of town," explains Michael G.

Site sizing variations: Campgrounds often have diverse site dimensions requiring advance planning. "The campground is on a peninsula with waterfront sites all the way around. Every waterfront site has great views! The interior sites are ok. Some still have nice views but they are a little too close together for my taste," explains Natalie C. about Indian Point Campground.

Storm shelter access: Some campgrounds provide emergency facilities. "The thing that really struck me as a huge and unique offering was the storm shelter. The shelter is marked clearly on the map and explained when you check in and it is something I have never seen at any other park or campground I have stayed at," notes one reviewer.

Tips for camping with families

Family-oriented dog friendly campgrounds: Several pet-friendly campgrounds near Rockaway Beach cater to families with dedicated spaces. "The Wilderness at Silver Dollar City has a shuttle to Silver Dollar City. The site we had was small, barely enough room to park your car and tent. But the campground and bathrooms/showers were exceptionally clean," says Wilma S.

Playground facilities: Many campgrounds maintain play areas for children. "We try to be right by the playground and our kids always make lots of friends at The Wilderness. Clean bathrooms, nice store, great pool and shuttle to SDC are all nice amenities," shares Sarah C.

Swimming beaches: Designated swim areas provide safe water access. "This is a favorite campground and swimming hole! It is close to Silver Dollar City and other Branson activities. The swim beach is nice and has picnic tables for use. No alcohol or pets allowed in the beach area which I appreciated. Family friendly!" mentions Natalie C.

Tips from RVers

Full hookup availability: Most campgrounds offer complete utility connections. "We stayed in site 131. They pack them in tight on the back row. Not a lot of room between rigs but they back up to a Community fire pit area. We have a toy hauler so it was perfect for us to put the party deck down," reports Andrew S. about their stay at Branson Lakeside RV Park.

Private RV sites: Some dog-friendly campgrounds near Rockaway Beach feature privacy barriers between sites. At Edgewater Beach Resort, "Loved the solitude of being by the water. We had another RV next to us for a few days, but with the privacy fence in between you would never know it," explains Phara Q.

Site leveling considerations: RV campers appreciate well-maintained parking areas. "The campground is beautiful and has one of those mountain settings you will not forget anytime soon! The sites have a quality to them which I wasn't expecting. Pulling into a site the drive is lined in pavers which create this almost platform which makes leveling a dream," shares one reviewer.
