RV camping near Abingdon, MD ranges from full hookup campgrounds with 30-amp and 50-amp service to year-round parks with more basic amenities. Bar Harbor RV Park & Marina in Abingdon offers 91 full hookup RV sites with water, electric, and sewer connections. The park features both 30-amp and 50-amp hookups on paved sites that accommodate big rigs. Aberdeen Proving Ground RV Park, also in the area, provides year-round access for RVs though with more limited amenities. Elk Neck State Park Campground in nearby North East, Maryland has electric hookups and can accommodate RVs with some waterfront sites available. Sites at Bar Harbor are positioned close together, particularly in the waterfront section where RVs have prime water views. "Sites are on top of each other. Water hookup access was on the ground. It was raining and the area was saturated with no where to drain."

During peak seasons, waterfront sites at Bar Harbor command premium rates, while off-season visits offer better availability and lower pricing. The campground entrance requires navigating through a residential neighborhood, which may present challenges for larger motorhomes and fifth wheels. Full-service dump stations are available at Bar Harbor and Elk Neck State Park. Many RV sites throughout the region feature picnic tables and fire rings, though alcohol policies vary by park. Cell service is generally reliable in most parks, with Wi-Fi available at Bar Harbor though reviews indicate inconsistent performance. Pet restrictions are enforced at several parks, with Bar Harbor providing a designated pet exercise area. Most parks in the region remain open year-round, though seasonal rates apply.

      Country Acres Campground

      Lovely campground!

Country Acres is a lovely, well maintained campground. Sites are level and bath house facilities clean and modern. Friendly staff in the office. Dog friendly. Local to all the Lancaster attractions. A complimentary farmland tour is offered by bus and it was great. They take you out into an area of Amish farms and shops and make a stop at 2 of these. The fresh Amish pretzels are amazing!

Greenbelt Park Campground — Greenbelt Park

Close to washington as we could get. Could also park our skoolie bus which was nice and had plenty of close by shower with bathrooms. Keep in mind only one shower per restroom house. We stayed at a pretty slow season so it wasn’t bad. Would recommend if visiting DC! They also have a dump station and water fill up.

      Codorus State Park Campground

      Hurricane camping

You just can't beat a pennsylvania park. This one is not an exception. Nice clean restroom, plenty of room. Now, what cost a star. Yes, it rained like hell. When we broke camp and go dump. The dump station was overflowing with sewer. Go to the guard shack to tell them, and find another site. None there. Can I go to an unused full hookup to dump? No! I would have to pay for the site. Two hours later, we found a place to dump for $10.

      Old Mill Stream Campground

      Never Again

The advertisements for Olde Mill Campground were disingenuous. The campsite was 20 yards from a roller coaster. The NOISE of the roller coaster and children on it screaming was as relentless and unnerving as any train we have ever slept near. There was no quiet until almost midnight. The “pull-through” site left my truck almost in the road and our 25’ Airstream slightly over the road on the backside. The site was not level. The sites were close enough to hear a neighbor’s snoring.

      Beacon Hill Camping

      Great location

We stayed here to go to the Hershey RV show—about 55 min drive. Right in the center of Amish country. Campground is adults only. It was very clean. The bathrooms were very clean with great water pressure. The roads are tight for getting into sites. Site 5 was not level side to side. We met great people there.

      Country Acres Campground

      Excellent But.

The campground is in excellent condition. The facilities are top notch. The excellence and care of the campground is evident. The 4 stars is only due to the road noise and many of the sites are on top of each other. You feel like your neighbor is at your camp fire.

      Redemption Springs

      Pleasant Stay and Hosts

We stayed at Redemption Springs to get relatively close to Baltimore without bringing our 30ft travel trailer into the city. Seth and the other gentlemen I spoke with were all extremely accommodating. Enjoyed learning about their approach to restorative farming and purchasing a variety of treats at the farm store. Beef, pork, chicken, seasonings, baked goods, and more. We booked on Hipcamp and recommend following his driving instructions. Our rig fit fine by tuhe main barn and they kept an eye on us going in and out to make sure we didn't have issues making any of the turns. Lots of farm life!

      Annapolis MWR Academy RV/Campground

      Great spot for Retirees/Active

If you want to be near Annapolis, right on the Severn River...this is it. About 15 RV spots nestled in the woods...with full hook ups. A couple of primitive spots as well. Just a quick 5 min walk to the river...right across from the Academy. NEX, gas within 10 min walk, and 15 min drive to downtown Annapolis. Staff is always great here, and the park is clean....for a park on the woods.

    What to do

Water activities on Bush River: Bar Harbor RV Park & Marina offers direct water access for fishing, kayaking and canoeing. "Camped here at the end of summer, really loved it. Had our kayaks with us and the water wasn't but a few steps away. Some sites you are right on the waters edge," notes Janet P.

Visit historic Havre de Grace: Located 15 minutes from Camp Ramblewood, this waterfront town offers shopping, dining and water views. "Water Street Seafood is a great new place with water 'front' views and outstanding food. There are trails in Havre de Grace as well. Canoe or kayak the Susquehanna River from the boat launch in town," recommends Laure D.

Hike to Turkey Point Lighthouse: A short drive from Abingdon, this trail near Elk Neck State Park Campground provides spectacular Chesapeake Bay views. "The light house and the view are definitely worth it," says David G., while Jalissa Y. adds, "the lighthouse trail is a must. What campers like

Waterfront camping sites: Many RV parks near Abingdon offer prime water views with fishing access. "Beautiful water front sites and good location right off 95. Cute little dock, fishing from your campsite if waterfront and an area to put in small boats or kayaks," shares Casey L. about Bar Harbor.

Farm experiences: For a unique camping experience 90 minutes from Abingdon, Thousand Trails Gettysburg Farm offers interaction with farm animals. "We came amidst COVID-19, so the many activities and events this location usually holds are down, BUT there is still fun to be had here! We've enjoyed mini-golf, feeding the animals, 'hiking' through the cornfield, fishing, and campfires," reports Kasey M.

Clean facilities: Several campgrounds in the region maintain well-kept bathhouses and amenities. "Bathhouses were open with hot water. Nice clean bathhouses. Sites were level, spacious, spaced apart, with packed gravel surface," notes Laure D. about Elk Neck State Park Campground.

    What you should know
