Best Campgrounds near Ellerslie, MD

Terrible experience. Very, very noisy. So loud couldn't sleep. Just wanted to rest for a night. Was awakened by extremely rude staff when I just wanted to rest. All those bad reviews are true. Never had such a bad experience. As I was filling the fresh water for travel it overflowed and revealed the huge amount of septic black water which really smelled. Looked pretty but that revealed their true nature, turd with a ribbon on it. The staff was so rude and really had a mean demeanor, just as other reviews have stated. I will never stay there and though I usually only give good reviews, I felt compelled to warn others. This place has park nazis in golf carts that harass people. I saw it happen to others who cut their stay short. No wonder the park was almost empty.

There are no amenities here besides a picnic table and a fire ring, but the sites are so spread out that it’s basically like dispersed camping but on a paved road. Which is like the magic ticket to enjoyable camping!

I reserved site 125 which was right across from the creek. The creek had some pools deep enough to sit in and get fairly wet.

It was very quiet other than fireworks a couple times. We saw no wildlife until we left the site in the morning and saw some deer on the road. Though we did have a spectacular firefly display at night.

A lot of litter left behind by previous campers. No cell service. Beautiful forest. Be prepared for mosquitoes and gnats.

Stayed 3 nights in May with small 17 ft travel trailer. Beautiful, peaceful, immaculate campground- which now offers hot outdoor (enclosed) shower and hot water in the bathrooms. Everything looks new at campground.it looks meticulously kept. Bathrooms have very large, deep, generous stainless steel sinks with ample workspace.campground is dog friendly... Can access the river from campground - need to bring own water fun- kayaks/canoes not available to rent  very wooded all around .  Suggest a screen room - got buggy. We enjoyed our stay. All sites are basically waterfront, nice quiet campground with water access and a boat ramp, saying that be cautious of the water level because the week before we came the entire campground was under water making the sites smell of swamp and very muddy. The Western Maryland Rail Trail runs rite along the campground so if you like bike riding, take advantage. Most of the other campers were family’s with young children. Technically there was water available but it was questionable, only porta pottys available with the obvious odor that comes with it.

We enjoyed our stay at Middle Ridge Campground. The owners we're amazing family people who were so polite and helpful! They provided daily checks so see if we needed anything such as firewood, which they brought directly to our campground. We have three children who absolutely loved petting and feeding Mules and Donkeys! The pool is a nice amenity unfortunately the weather wasn't swimming weather when we were there. Short drive down the mountain to get to the ponds but my husband and oldest son had a blast catching fish in their ponds! Large campsites with good spacing between guests, which makes your site feel private. I called before booking and talked to the owner which helped us pick out the perfect spot! If ever in the area we would come back and camp again!
