Sun Outdoors San Diego Bay

RV campers seeking resort-style amenities with bay access can set up at Sun Outdoors San Diego Bay, a full-service facility positioned on concrete pads overlooking San Diego Bay. The campground operates with keycard gate access and provides comprehensive hookups including cable television connections alongside standard electric, water, and sewer services.

Site layouts feature level concrete pads with privacy hedges, though noise levels vary significantly by location. Patrick J. notes that site #1 requires "a white noise machine" due to freeway proximity, while site #210 offers better views with less traffic noise. Elite sites include propane fire pits, Adirondack chairs, and dining tables, though campers must disconnect their own propane tanks since direct lines aren't provided.

The facility centers around an extensive pool complex with bar service, adjacent gym, arcade, and game room featuring pool tables and shuffleboard. A convenience store stocks snacks and propane refills, while the adjacent marina offers dining options within walking distance. Lance L. describes the amenities as "truly endless" with activities that "you can't even do all of it."

Check-in begins at 2 PM for RVs, with rates ranging from $150-280 per night depending on site selection and season. The location provides access to campgrounds around Coronado and connects easily to downtown San Diego attractions via Interstate 5. Bay-view sites fill quickly during peak periods, particularly around Fourth of July when many visitors return annually.

Campers preferring a more traditional camping experience might consider Silver Strand Southern Section - Silver Strand State Beach for oceanfront sites with fewer amenities.

Many campers appreciated the resort-style amenities, clean concrete sites, and professional staff at this premium San Diego Bay location. Some visitors noted freeway noise at certain sites, but most found the extensive facilities worth the higher cost.

Very nice...bougey even...

This was glamping compared to all other RV parks we've visited.  Our site was fully paved, had a gas fire pit and gas grill, outdoor refrigerator, and was on the edge.  The central sites also appeared to have gas fire pits but without a grill or fridge.  The pool was nice, and the showers were very clean and spacious.  The staff were very kind.  This was a pretty expensive site, but it delivered with respect to amenities.

Immaculate Site!

I was skeptical about the price of $125 a day but I've never been to a park with more amenities! They quite literally have everything to the point where you can't even do all of it. Sites come with a picnic table and 4 chairs around a nice propane fire tank. You do need to pop off a tank from your camper as they do not supply a direct line of propane. Super clean, friendly staff, pool, gym, arcade...it's truly endless. I think my favorite part was having key card access similar to a hotel room. You drive up to a gate and present the card to get in which is very nice and provides a secure site. They also have a convenience store which is nice for a quick snack!

Glamping for sure

We have stayed there twice. It for sure is glamping with all the amenities. Pool, places to eat and drink. The staff is always friendly.

Be cautious about what sire you select. We had # 1 and it is so noisy that we had to by a white noise machine. The freeway is close by and it seems having a really loud car or a motorcycle id a thing there in Chula Vista. You will hear it at all hours. We had site #210 and it is the best, view, reasonably quiet. With that being said, I would opt for the south side of the property.

Great place!

Great place right on San Diego Bay. Very clean and has everything you need!

Large pool area. Splash pad for the little ones, bar for the bigger ones, activities poolside and HUGE TV! Food service as well.

Adjacent areas has a nice gym that opens to pool area, game room with pool table, scuffle board and poker tables. An arcade for the kids. There is also a comfort station with a playground and horse shoe pits. There is also a nature center next to the campground that offers a discount to those who stay.

RV sites were very clean with propane fire pits. Bungalows looked very comfy. Great place with friendly people.

Nice staff, clean facilities and sites. Easy access… was able to get propane. Unfortunately I’m hearing they are closing this site in October. I hear they have a site not too far from here. Defiantly go to check it out.

Great place to stay

This is a very clean well maintained place to stay. We stay every Fourth of July for at least a week. The bay view spots have a great view of the water. The bay and the marina are within walking distance and there is a restaurant at the marina. There is water electric sewer and cable at each site. This campground is close to downtown San Diego, Sea World and the Botanical gardens. There are many good restaurants close by also.
