Platform on old building site

This site appears to have a platform that was built to set up a tent on where an old building used to stand. The fireplace is the only part that is still in place which would actually be kind of nice to use on a cold night. There are even metal rings installed on the platform that you could use to attach a rain fly. Overall this is very near to the Pinhoti southern terminus so you won't get much distance covered if you camp here but it could work for a late start. There is also a nearby shelter which is my preference but this could be a backup if that gets a little crowded. The other downside to this site is that there is not any water right here so you will either have to carry it in or hike down to one of the nearby streams to fill up. However, it is a pretty cool looking area and deffinitely worth checking out even if you don't stay the night.

Great place to go camping!

Awesome campground. If you look at the map you’ll see that some sites are full hook-up and some are not. We stayed in C section with full hook-ups. They have playgrounds throughout the campground, trails from 1 mile long to 15 miles long that can be utilized by horse, bike, or on foot. Boat rentals include two different places. The marina for motorized jon boats and pontoon boats. You can rent these for 4-48 hours. If you’re renting one of their boats then you need a vessel license. If you don’t have a vessel licenses then you can take the test at the marina. At the Creem Shop (they sell ice cream, burgers, etc) you can rent pedal boats and canoes. They have a zip line and tree line adventure course, mini-golf, a beach area for swimming, and plenty of fishing spots. They also offer church services on Sunday morning. Check in is at 4 pm and check out is at 2 pm. Spots are close together but I’ve seen worse. Campground is clean and wasn’t noisy. We will definitely be coming back for a longer stay in the future.

Beautiful and great cell phone coverage

We have been looking for a water view, with cell phone signal, in order to be able to work from the camper. Bingo! We are at camp site 35, which is in a cove and I’m not complaining of working from the hammock, overlooking West Point! I will say this particular site in a bit small, and you can’t stay hooked up to the camper… there’s not enough room. Site 36 is a better choice, but it was reserved. The pad is right off the camper and the few feet you walk to get to the lake is easy to access. We will be back!

Great Respite

Third time staying at Oak Mountain and it was great. Stayed in B37. A20-27 are better but our trip was short notice. Decent size and pretty quiet. Bathrooms could use some updating but still pretty clean. Great hiking trails and lots of stuff to do!

Military friendly

This place shows great appreciation for their military members currently serving with free entry to the regular park. This place is the perfect weekend getaway for any and all to just relax and enjoy the beautiful lake and abundant forests

So nice and renovated

We camped here May 2020 and it was our first trip in the new trailer. Arrived in the fog at night and realized we didn’t have cell service around our site but I was proud that we conquered the backing up and hooking up with no issues. We were impressed by all their new updates to the campground, and it was just a beautiful campsite where we were I believe it was S5 in the #1 campground loop. We were also impressed by the mountain bike trails. We heard they were updating the WiFi soon after we stayed, so looking forward to going back.

Add this place to your list!

What an amazing campground! Alabama knocked this one out of the park. From the first time you enter the park, which isn’t too far from BHam or the interstate, you’re transported to a different place where things move much more slowly just the way we like it. The campground is a 5 mile ride from the main entrance. A beautiful winding road takes you all the way, deep into the property. If you’re lucky, you will see plenty of wildlife (we saw 7 deer and one rabbit). The campsites are very spacious, we stayed in site A30 which was great! But if you want a view, try A26 which overlooks the lake. There is a general store on property that even has propane. If you’re active, they offer bike and hiking trails, horse riding, kayak and paddle boat rentals, and a couple of beaches. Don’t wait, book your stay here ASAP!

Hiking with the boys

After seeing so many massive mountains out west this was a little disappointing but still fun!

Great Park

Camped in upper level and found site clean, level and quiet. Good hiking trails. Great place in Spring and Fall.

One of the Best!

We really enjoyed our stay at Wind Creek. The lake is beautiful with plenty amenities. There are quite a few campsites on the lake, the rest still have lake views. Some slots are smaller than others, which is something you have to be cautious about when reserving your spot. Other than that, everything was amazing! Wind Creek is definitely a place we will return to in the near future and quite often! Check out the views from the Silo in the day use area! Amazing views of the lake!
